You and 6 random PotD posters are locked in 7 adjacent cells. You are all unable to see each other, but are within shouting distance of each other. Each cell has a button. The first person to press the button is immediately released while everyone else instantly dies.
If no one presses the button for 3 minutes then everyone is released.

That's... not how the game is supposed to go. There's no tangible benefit to one person pressing the button.
Make it so that you get a cash reward or something, like $500,000 if you press the button and survive. If nobody presses the buttons, nobody dies, but nobody gets the money.

tbh, the board has a few sociopaths which makes it a legit danger. Plus if you add a cash reward where everybody else dies, you now make people more worried about their survival. Where if you picked 6 random PotDers, there's probably a reasonably good chance that one isn't a complete sociopath who would kill for fun, you now increase the risk of somebody being tempted while encouraging pressing as a preemptive defensive measure because -- money or no money -- if I have strong reason to believe that somebody is about to press a button and kill me, I would press it in self-defense.

Considering the mental and emotional state some of the people here are in, I would feel compelled to push my button. The chance that one of the others would be sick enough to relish the chance to kill other people in a situation where it was "justified" is too great for me to risk waiting.

You would have to be human scum to actually press the button in this scenario. Sure, you might be scared that somebody else will press it and want to press it first, but that just makes you absolute trash that doesn't deserve to live.

Man 3 minutes is all this lasts talk about a pretty lame scenario. This is like the The Dark Knight situation but instead of having higher stakes and more lasting repercussions this is like 3 minutes and its over.
