They're not unattractive to eachother.

Why would you ruin a perfectly good friendship with celibacy? If you like eachother, I don't see why you wouldn't want to bang it out.

Unless you actually value that friendship and aren't just agreeing to be friends out of a desperately obsessive need to keep her around while you wallow in self-pity every time a conversations ends without her falling in love with you. Then being friendzoned isn't really a problem, because you end up with a friend and that's fun.

Depends on how attractive you find them. I don't really want to be just friends with a super hot girl.
Yes if one of them is gay.

Typically, no.
If they can take it further, they will. If they can't due to other issues, it won't stop them wanting to or one of the 2 pining over the other.
I'm sure it happens from time to time but a genuinely platonic relationship between 2 likeminded people of the opposite sex? Not the sort of thing I'd place a bet on.

I think if the man is virgin, it's probably a lot harder. I have plenty of female friends and it seems fine on my end.

You think? I mean I wound guess that those guys who have had sex would crave it more as they have already experienced what it's like. A virgin on the other hand can't miss what they have never had. Of course this could be subjective.

Well, based on personal experience, it became easier for me because I didn't care about getting laid anymore. A lot of the dudes who get smitten easily and stuff tend to be less experienced and probably just want their turn.

So you don't find any of them attractive at all-physically or emotionally-and if you weren't married/loyal then you'd prefer to stay friends with them and not take things further?

That's a)ridiculous because it implies that we either see women as objects or have them as platonic friends, nothing in between and b)sexist because who's to say a woman can't want more from a male friend? You'd never make that comment about a woman's intentions if she answered no.

I've been married for 11 years. I only think of my husband in that way.

Most women do believe they can be just friends with men. It's usually always men who say they can't be just friends with a woman.

I would argue that one of those groups of people aren't being honest with themselves and/or everyone else. The assumption that women aren't equally capable of having dirty thoughts about and attraction for someone they're friends with is not only incorrect but dismissive of women as well.

No it's not.

Your just trying to justify your inability to be just friends with a woman because of your inability to control your libido.

Fair enough. All I know is I don't want to hump every attractive gal I see into oblivion just because I've never had sex.

But you've also omitted women from your first statement and taken a different position on them in your subsequent replies because they apparently "all say they don't" so you clearly have some sort of fantasy about women being morally superior and yet disregarding the possibility of and therefore dismissing their sexuality-which is it?

I never said that I didn't have female friends that I've known for years or that the difference between thinking these things about women you know and acting on them are entirely different things, because the long term friendship can be worth more than the possibility of ruining it for sex. I simply refuse to take your faux feminist attempt at appearing above the fray seriously or to give you any credit for thinking you have some sort of 'woke' understanding of female motivations and urges while clearly having no idea whatsoever and treating them as chaste or dramatically different somehow.
This isn't about females having a better grasp on this situation or males being somehow out of control, it's just about humans and them all doing pretty much the same things when presented with the same stimulus or temptation. It's what you do with those urges that makes you a socially responsible adult.
Mod me? You don't even know me!
Yes, even if there is sexual attraction from one or both.
I'd say yes and hopefully both sides have enough mutual respect for one another to not try and take said friendship any further. Imagine having a good friend that you have no attraction or romantic feelings toward and said friend comes out and expresses his/her feelings toward you. Would you want to be put in a position where you have to either turn down said friend or worse, pretend to have interest so you won't hurt his/her feelings?

I kinda find it disrespectful to put someone in that position especially if it was already established he/she has no feelings toward you. Of course being friendzoned stinks but it just goes you show you care more for your own feelings than the wishes of your friend. At some point one must simply accept the reality of the situation and not keep pressuring said friend.

Granted there is that chance both friends do have some feelings for one another and are clueless to it but I assume this to be a rarity. At the end of the day, if you care for said friend and respect his/her wishes to just stay as friends, don't try and start anyway. Seems cowardly but it goes you show you care more how for he/she feels than what you want.

I skimmed your post.

You make assumptions.

The facts are clear. It's more common for a female to have many platonic male friends than for a male to have many platonic female friends. I'm not saying there aren't women who struggle with maintaining platonic male friendships but more men suffer from it than women, heavily, or that men with many platonic female friends don't exist.

You seem to be really insulted by my calling out males for over sexualizing females constantly and overtly. It's a problem females endure daily that men rarely experience.

Are you a female who has trouble maintaining platonic friendships with men? Or were you really hurt by a woman and hold a very negative view of the them? Seriously, while it may seem like your attacking me in your posts, it's seems like you are really upset at females for not "friend zoning" you while engaging in sexual activity with other men.

whenever i meet a woman at work or outside of an online social media site i never look for more than just friends. but when i meet someone on instagram or twitter or whatever, i always think more than just friends first.
