Red bean spread? Isn't that an Asian thing? Pretty sure Brits are just dumping cans of Heinz beans on their toast, not using no fancy foreign bean spreads.

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/user_image/8/3/9/AABd5gAAExYX.jpgis that runner beans and sweetcorn in shepards pie? The fuck? That ain't no british recipe.
I think what's notable is the ratio. It seems like the British have way more bad food than they do good food. While most other places it's the opposite. Most of the bad stuff you see is either what poor people eat, dishes from the 18th Century that no one eats any more, or weird regional novelty food (that stargazy pie with the fish heads).
I suppose. I'm basing this off of my own experience in Ireland and England as a tourist. When we went to fine dining restaurants it was often food from other countries. There's a lot of Michelin star/fine dining places that do 'modern British'. But obviously, there's a ton of other cuisines.
Every nation has good and shit food. We deep fry twinkies and oreos ffs.In fairness, we got the idea to deep fry everything from Britain (specifically, from Scotland). In particular, deep-fried Mars bars (the "Mars" brand of candy is marketed as "Milky Way" here, in case you wanted to try it for yourself) originated from Scotland in the early '90s, predating both the deep-fried Twinkie and the deep-fried Oreo by about a decade. In general, much of modern America's obsession with deep-fried food in general stems from the South, which in turn got it from Scottish immigrants to the region throughout the 17th to 19th Centuries.
