We constantly complain about the lack of independence in young adults, but they were conditioned to lack independence.
Yup, I was going to say issue is stroads. It's also the lack of places for kids to hang out anymore, as lots of places disallow unsupervised kids--even teens--to be there. The video even cited an incident where a mother was arrested for letting her kids play alone in her own backyard.
I watched this video earlier, and I agree with everything as well.

As a result, video games and social media has become the last bastion of meeting grounds for kids to play together and socialize.
Didn't watch, but surely the question is "why don't parents let their kids go outside anymore?"
can I get a summary?

I'm not a kid anymore, so I don't really care. I bet child abductions were higher in the 50s as well. The video also mentioned that child abductions by strangers is actually rare, but when it does happen, it gets sensationalized by the media, which drives up parental paranoia.
Where are kids gonna play?
Especially when adults get pissy and get mad if those kids are anything besides what kids were 50 years ago,
What in the fuck is a stroadhttps://youtu.be/ORzNZUeUHAM?si=2oCvI9RwpyEHuhoS
Because our culture has transformed its perception of what a good parent is. Part of that is now that unsupervised play is seen as bad parenting. So it just doesn't happen anymore.
Sad, really. Us older Millenials were the last ones to play outside in the summer, unsupervised.
Along with us losing a lot of third spaces, this is just not healthy.

lawns every so often for when you want to sit downUntil you get shot by some MAGAt moron.
This just feels like another anti car video. The video is supposed to be about why don't kids go outside anymore, but most of the video is spent talking about how America is too car centric and how we need more walkable cities and proper bike paths.damn you almost figured it out
damn you almost figured it outlol

Didn't watch, but surely the question is "why don't parents let their kids go outside anymore?"Because they get CPS called on them for letting their kids play in the yard.
They don't give a fuck if kids develop and learn right.
Most people would rather not see/deal with the problem than try to help them or give them something to do.
damn you almost figured it out
Weird that anyone educated/knowledgeable on the subject always keeps saying the same things.I'm not saying that what he talked about wasn't valid. I was just expecting him to cover more issues than he did. Because there's a lot of different causes in there.
It must be the work of an enemy Stand.
When I was a kid in the 90s, my mom would let me bike around the neighborhood by myself or play basketball unsupervised with friends >_> Is that weird to do now?
