I keep getting wrecked in Dorter >.>
She/Her
Yes
Sack to crack, going to town
Dorter is notorious yes
The Legend is True!
Dorter is infamous for filtering 8 year olds yea.

Pro tip the enemies in story battles don't scale to your level so just do a couple random battles and it'll be a piece of cake.
Dorter separated a lot of people from continuing the game.
It all returns to nothing
It just keeps tumbling down, tumbling down, tumbling down. (NGE)
Outside of the first couple levels I remember it being very short and easy. First few where tough as hell though.
Bees
Yes. Make Black Mages and Monks to GGEZ Chapter 1.
Don't like it? Don't watch it. It's that simple
Dictator of Nice Guys
Early FFT is brutal in a lot of ways and very poorly balanced.

  1. Monsters all get counter abilities, while your characters have access to counter tackle early it's fucking garbage compared to just "counter" which you get from monks.
  2. Chemists can use guns but there are no guns until Goug so your only ranged attackers are archers which are not only terrible but their job skill is fucking useless literally just the same ability 8 fucking times. The game also puts mages in advantageous positions to cast spells down on you which you have no choice but to retaliate with archers.
  3. Early White magic sucks you end up having to spend a lot of money on potions for healing which hurts your ability to upgrade your characters other equipment.
Of course once you actually develop some good(ish) jobs like monk and geomancer the game mellows out to something reasonable. High level jobs like ninja and arithmetician trivialize the game. And after trivializing the game it fucking dumps Reis and Orlandu on you like gee thanks I needed this in chapter 1 not halfway through Chapter 4
It says right here in Matthew 16:4 "Jesus doth not need a giant Mecha."

Yeah, not much has changed, lol.

Algus and Delita are programmed to charge up the roof nearest to you and attack that archer, then they fan out from there.

Do yourself a favor and have everyone kinda follow them (or otherwise head up on their own) instead of just running forward towards that knight and wizard. From there, you'll probably be fine. you'll want some potions or Cure magic to sluff off the incoming black magic.
Remember that I won't rest, 'til we share the same tense
Just know, to me, you're better late than never again.
dorter is the early git gud moment yeah. also keep at least two saves. your game could get wrecked.

Dang it is like you know my life story. This battle was a BITCH for 8 year old me. The ones I struggled the most with by far though was Gaffgarion's 2 last battles, the execution place and castle. Wiegraf was rough but I mr magoo stumbled my way into speed up cheesing him so it wasn't too bad.
Lol, I had some friends (three brothers) that would keep saving over each others' saves and couldn't beat Dorter. They kept having me do it. >.>

Yeah, that's the first filter in the game. It's bizarrely hard for how early it is and how simple the stage overall is.

It is the first battle I think where you can't just steam roll with knights. The stage is too big, too much climbing, and the enemies start above you with some black mages mixed in so it is just the hardest counter to knights imaginable. Archers suck ass so they aren't useful either. Black mages get destroyed by the archer way above you on the roof, the only time an archer is useful. Unless you have been grinding squires and gunless chemists are your best bets and that is a tough spot to be in. And the problem for a new player is they have no idea what to grind or what they need to grind unless they look it up.

The execution site battle is pretty rough, I had to reset on that one a lot. You're just *so* outnumbered and the enemies start with a massive positional advantage. Plus by that point you've just recruited Agrias and Mustadio and they likely have pretty shit skills unless you did some grinding.
I cheesed the first Gafgarion fight. If you take off all his gear when he's still a Guest he will not have it for the battle. lol

There's an insane cheese strat for this, you can grind levels into the 90s and switch Gaf to a Ninja with throw Knight Sword, and he'll chuck Save the Queen/Excalibur/Chaos Blades at you. In the start of Chapter 2 lol. With Catch reaction and high brave you can be way OP for the rest of the chapter.

Dorter is pretty much a check to make sure you're using archers and healers
