Maybe he will pick her, and then nobody will vote for Trump in November, because of this . Most Americans love pets. Even Republicans

Some people need to have that realization they shouldn't own pets if they're going to treat them so badly. I don't like animals either; dogs and cats included. Yet I have more sense then some people to not own a pet, and if other family members of mine want a pet, it's their responsibility to take care of them.

Though this is some straight up pyschopath Noem killing a puppy for not behaving the way she wants her to behave is straight fucked up. I've seen a similar situation where a neighbor's black Labrador dog got into the henhouse twice and slaughtered a bunch of chickens. It's part of dog's nature and they can't help themselves. You gotta know what might happen and have those chickens better fenced in or find a way to keep that dog from getting in.

It's really messed up killing an animal because you yourself can't train them the way you want them to behave. You can't train a dog to do and behave well in every situation. In a normal world, Noem should be investigated and charged for animal cruelty.

My german shepherd used to kill our chickens... I never once thought of shooting him.

We did have to install a hundred ft airplane cable run for him though.

After that we figured the chickens stupid enough to go over there deserved what they got.

I don't think this is going to cut through to a lot of Trump voters tbh. If you just hear the headline as a rural person you're like "Well yes, sometimes that's the way to put down your animal sad as it is, city slickers would never understand". It's not unless you go into the details (which they aren't inclined to do) that it's absolutely psycho behavior.

I think this is gonna kill any chance she had at VP.

It's one thing to hate dogs like Trump, it's another to murder them. That won't resonate well with a majority of Americans.
I see it the opposite way around -- Noem's a lock for VP unless one of the other deplorables in contention finds an even sicker way to get Trump's attention.

But this is a case where I'd definitely prefer to end up being wrong.

I'm more partial to cats than dogs, but I know I'm not cut out for it. The stress when animals behave in confusing or infuriating ways is more than I want to deal with.

It really was. And thank you. I cried for three days. The emergency vet wasnt in town that night and this poor girl crawled back to the place she knew was home. We thought she went missing. That was the hardest decision Ive had to make. And when I confronted the hick neighbor about it he pretended to know nothing, even though we knew it was him.

More accurately, "some people are defending/downplaying it"

Those people are definitely in the minority, even amongst Republicans.

i have to agree with this part. reminds me of the trauma that my grandfather did to my dog when i moved away for a few months. he took it out back and shot it with a gun after it attacked another dog. there was an easier way to rectify this (take it to a vet clinic to have it put down).

this didn't happen to my currently deceased dog, it was the one before it many years ago.

Only one side cares about "sticking it to the other side", the counter side to that wants to mitigate/prevent the harm that side seeks to achieve.

I think something both you and Alteres are missing is that her puppy killed other people's chickens (IE property), not her own. I feel like we all know of stories where one person's dog maimed/killed another person's dog, and the victim dog's owner had government authorities come to remove and put down the aggressive dog. That doesn't seem all that different from this to me. Not justifying her decision to put it down like it was some rabid problem and I agree she should have rehomed the dog instead of executing it, just saying the chicken story is like the most "justified" thing she talks about in regards to the puppy's behavior justifying her reaction in her mind.

Also, as I heard pointed out, it is her fault for even allowing Cricket the opportunity to escape in the first place, so first and foremost the blame lies with that and her intentions of training the dog to view birds as targets and prey.

That "counter side" is also complicit for the degradation of the system albeit differently from the lunatic side.

Instead of cutting it off at the head, they took a "wait and see approach" to something that snowballed beyond their control. That complacency didn't create the problem but it absolutely gave it the fuel to grow and their utterly stagnant leadership is doing it again.

As far as I'm concerned, they ALL need to go.

As true as that may be, it's not the same as the aforementioned statement. If anything, there are too many times when Dems in government should stick it to the other side, yet don't because it would mean hurting people and at least they don't care about Americans suffering from something like a government shutdown to play politics.

Spoiler alert: It wont go over well. And it shouldnt, because as we all know doing what she did is sick. As is proudly revealing it in her book.

Democrats def. should have acted faster-plenty of people were sounding the alarm that the GOP was becoming cult like in the 90s. But pretending these sides have equal responsibility is pretty ridiculous.

Our entire system of government for 247 years has been based on the unwritten idea that all involved are going to act in good faith. The GOP decided not to do this and break the system on purpose. The Democrat only sin was hoping too long that they would come to their senses to avoid the exact situation we have now: a broken government that doesnt work at all. This system cannot work when one side has decided to abandon good faith governing, no matter what the Dems. did or didnt do.

We can all regret that Democrats havent been more aggressive, but lets put the blame where it belongs. The GOP set out to break the system purposefully-a system that does not have many built in safeguards for bad faith actors.

The amount of people in the comments saying Thats life on the farm! Thats what happens on a farm! Are beyond sickening. I have two uncles that had a ranch (one whos no longer with us) and no it fucking is not. They have had to put dogs down but it was for extreme circumstances and one was a long time ago for rabies when that was more of a mercy. They *never* put a dog down because they didnt train it right.

All this is reminding me of a junior year history class I had in high school where when the Nazis were considering someone to be a part of the SS they would give them a puppy and task them with raising it. Once it had grown they were called back in and ordered to shoot the dog. If they couldnt kill the dog they didnt accept them into the SS. Like this is where were at; MAGAs have lost so much of their humanity in their blind hatred of liberals and democrats that theyve become incapable of understanding why people object to killing dogs in cold blood. Murdering animals is always a serious red flag of how badly someones lost the plot. Ivan the Terrible would drop animals as a boy from up high just to see the splatter when they hit the ground.

agreed, she did it in malice. Reading it, she was fed up with the dog not doing what she wanted it to do, so she just got rid of the problem.
