They got fined $9 million after making $418 million over the decade they implemented that.Sigh. The laws need reworked. Funny story, though. Nexon sounds like they deserve this, lmao.

Why is he playing it enough to be the highest level it if he thinks it's shitty
Why is he playing it enough to be the highest level it if he thinks it's shittyTo make money streaming it
Right at the end of the stream before he hits level 300 (literally at 99.993% of the way there), he stops playing the game and goes off at the company saying how shitty their practices are and how shitty the game is lol. Then just quits the game without ever reaching level 300. idk if the devs cut off the stream on their end or not during this but he was also streaming it on his personal channel too. There was an in-game banner urging players to witness him hitting 300 and MapleStory hosted his stream as well. There were over 20,000 viewers who heard his message. When Niru started saying things that Nexon didn't like, they removed the banner and stopped hosting his channel.

I played Maple Story from about 2005 to 2015 or so. I absolutely loved that game. The BGM was amazing. I played 6-8 hours a day for years.
I still play Maple regularly, but usually only for about 30 minutes a day, with more time on weekends. I haven't spent any money on the game in over a decade.I appreciate the timestamps. Thanks man!
If you want time stamps on the stream, someone on the Maple subreddit made a list in one of the discussion threads. I'll link to the discussion and post the time stamps here on things Niru went over.

Also, what's the significance of level 260? I keep seeing that number thrown around a lot, but I don't play the game so I don't know what the context is >_>
I can't believe that shitty game is still alive and that people continue to spend money on it.Nostalgia is a hell of a drug. People play old school Maple on private servers and pay them.

As you play the game, you get to advance your job (class) a number of times;
Your initial job starts at level 10,
2nd job advancement at 30,
3rd job at 60
4th job at 100
5th job at 200
6th job (the most recently added) at 260
Each job advancement gives you a bunch of new buffs/attacks/skills for whatever class you chose
Why not do that in a game that's actually goodWhy doesn't everyone have a job that they love
So what you're saying is, there's still a chance I could be the first.Legitimately no. The second closest person is still about 6 months (or more) behind.
It's over 1.7 trillion exp from 299 to 300, and the highest leveled monsters available only give exp in the millions.
Legitimately no. The second closest person is still about 6 months (or more) behind. How long was Niru playing for? How many hours would it take to reach 300?
It takes longer to reach level 300 from 285 than it does to get to 285 from level 1. It's over 1.7 trillion exp from 299 to 300, and the highest leveled monsters available only give exp in the millions.

>_> I think it's 1.7 quadrillion.Yeah, my bad. Thanks for the correction.

How long was Niru playing for? How many hours would it take to reach 300?I read he would play 12+ hours every day. I haven't watched him so I'm going off memory of what I've seen others say. He's also fallen asleep while playing.
How long was Niru playing for? How many hours would it take to reach 300?A ton of hours. Niru has been playing constantly and he hit level 299 on January 29th. So nearly 3 months of constant playtime to complete that final level up.
Legitimately no. The second closest person is still about 6 months (or more) behind.Imagine he gets close to 300 and this same thing happens again lol

Damn. When did the level cap get increased to 300?!When did you stop playing?
I have uh, a lot, of hours logged in MapleStory.
Imagine he gets close to 300 and this same thing happens again lolOn one hand, being the first to 300 is a great feat, but on the other hand, you're stepping on the body of the person who sacrificed their chance for glory in hopes to better the community. We'll find out what happens when it happens, though.
Oh and also, to the people asking why he wasted so much time playing, just to quit. He's using his fame as the highest level player as leverage. He didn't just criticize Nexon and rage quit. He listed a bunch of the problems with the game and said that he won't come back to the game until things change. And his complaints are all valid
When did you stop playing?
In 2013 the level cap raised from 200 to 250
In 2019 the level cap raised from 250 to 275
In 2021 the level cap raised from 275 to 300
I wouldn't be surprised if they increased the level cap again in the future.
In 2013 the level cap raised from 200 to 250Oh for certain. The highest level boss now is level 285 and she's just one of 5 known apostles of the main villain, and if Maple doesn't finally go belly up any time soon, level cap will easily go to 350 by the time that happens.

It's apparently been a fair bit longer than I realized. I did finally hit 200... When 250 was the capThat was still an accomplishment back then. Recently they had several events that helped players reach 250 pretty fast. I haven't touched the game in 3 months though.

First they built up to
Yeah, the story is really going the same route as Shounen anime.Fuck. You know, I never even really thought about it like that before. Here I've been wondering how people can stick with One Piece for such a long time when what I've been partaking in is much worse. Not only do I need to wait years for more story to be released, but it's also not available to everyone directly. I gotta learn second-hand any knowledge from where I currently am and most end-game boss lore. That's both funny and depressing to me.
