I played FF3 famicom version recently, it was pretty fun.
Like it or leave it. Hey, where are you going?
PR. It is simple, looks great, and moves quickly. It also doesnt have that dumb problems of the 3d one where bosses are ultra buffed and no save points in dungeons.

If you ever do play the 3 D one, make sure it is on Steam, or the PSP version. It fixed a lot of big issues from the DS version.

It's still pretty crazy that the pixel remaster was the first we (legally) got that game in 2D in the US

They never made a PS1 or GBA version like they did for 2 & 5.

I guess it just wasn't a very popular installment.
It says right here in Matthew 16:4 "Jesus doth not need a giant Mecha."

Play the Pixel Remaster so you can appreciate this series as it grew. Then you can play the 3D version and probably accurately decide that it's the better of the two.

I feel like 3 was pretty popular in Japan. It always gets referenced. Same with 2, for some reason.

I think it just wasnt released in the west because the SNES was out at that point and people wanted new stuff.

FF3 is the best of the NES final Fantasy games. It's just afterward is when they start really getting good. Yes play it.

PR 3 was pretty much the reason I got the collection.

It wasn't, and the reason it wasn't brought over was because they thought it wouldn't do well here.

If you play the 3D version of FFIII go with the PSP version. It's the best version over DS, Steam, and Mobile.

One of the major ones is that the Onion Knight job and the Master Smith sidequest were locked behind online that no longer works.

Lmao DS wireless features being mandatory for things.

I get why but also no.

Anyways I haven't really made any progress in FF2.

I'm still just outside fighting and finding out where not to go because holy shit you'll just stumble into enemies that one shot you lol

Some early advice I can give is build up your offensive magic because there are a couple of early bosses that have ridiculously high physical defense and without magic you could softlock.

Avoid the Steam version of FFIII 3D if they haven't fixed that story progress reset bug.

I knew about those ones, was there any other problems the DS version has that the others fixed? Makes me glad I future proofed my copy by keeping a save at the start of the game with all wifi mails sent. I didn't consider the wifi being shut down, just that the more time went by the harder it'd be to find someone to send mail to.

The DS losing online thing also affected FF IV 3D with the Summoner sidequests. It was changed in the Mobile/Steam version.

I've played every game out of the first 13 except 2, are you enjoying it? I've thought about buying the individual pixel remaster from time to time

Its the most painless way. I got through it in about 10 hours. PSP version took me a lot longer.
Why be stupid? Does it make you happy to be stupid?

I've only gotten to the first dungeon.

I'm still grappling with the mechanics.

From what I can tell you can only raise your levels so far, at least against certain tiers of enemies and/or you're limited by the weapons you're wielding (ie a simple Bow can only get you so much skill in Bows)

Not sure yet. First trip to Fynn I didn't realize where the bar was so, unable to do anything and killing the Captains doing nothing, I turned off encounters and walked the map lol <_<

Then I went back, found the bar, remembered "Oh yeah the game mentioned the bartender" and now I'm story progressing, but honestly I'm probably just gonna use a guide for where to go.
