In my first battle and I can already tell you the game is a lot easier. You gain more JP and all of your squires have throw stone which I do not believe they had in previous games

Hearing all you playing this is just making me kick myself for holding off on buying a Steam Deck. TRYING to wait for Steam Deck 2 but the Steam Deck would be REALLY nice on my Japan trip right now.

It was RNG what your characters started with. Generally speaking in the original it was pretty common to have a squire with throw stone and one without.

Is this because of the Deluxe Edition equipment?

No. The items don't come automatically equipped by default. I didn't claim them until after the 1st battle.

As someone who has this as a top 3 game of all time, This is so far and away the best version of the game.

Love all the QoL updates

I never realized how ingrained the muscle memory is for navigating menus. I'm misclicking all over the place because the menus are different.

I would say getting rid of the feature to unequip all the gear from a person was a mistake, I used that a lot.

Also wish they'd have kept the OG death screams. Minor pet peeves at the end of the day, still enjoying it.

Anyways, I'm on my way to Dorter. I think I'm gonna grind to get Ramza and my males to be Monks first and my females to be Black Mages.

It's so good! Beat Dorter, barely. I did like 1 battle of grinding. I usually don't plan out my units, but maybe I should do that.

on PS5 during any voiced cutscene you can press the touchpad and then square and it activates Auto-Progress so when the voice line is done you dont need to press X

but it turns off after every cutscene currently and I cant find a way to make it permanent

Man. I just took a closer look at my order. I pre ordered mine June 5 and it's still sitting in ordered status. Hasn't shipped but I got my promo code email. But still says arriving Friday. This is my first time going through Amazon. I usually do best buy and have no problems, but I wanted the poster.

What do these two numbers mean? First might be chance to hit but I can't figure out the second. I've seen it as low as 75 and as high as 125 I think.

I believe the second done is zodiac compatibility.

Anyway, up to Goug and i'm liking it so far. The ability to skip random battles - or initiate them yourself - is some nice quality of life. Fast forward would be a pretty sweet QoL addition if it was a toggle; having to constantly hold R1RB is almost as tedious as just letting the game play out at normal speed.

Holy shit every move you take in battle is autosaved. You can quickly reload if you miss a move or something similar. This game is insanely ggez if you abuse it lmao

How do you reload the autosave? Is there an option or close the game down entirely

Go into the menu while in battle, go to the option tab and then click on load. You'll see the autosaves.

Ive been using the same 4 units. Is that a bad idea?

i feel like later on theyre going to permanently die and its going to screw me over

You may want to level up other units to build them as other classes. Once you get some unique characters you're gonna use them more prolly. Agrias is number 1 babe.

mucked around with autosave and it doesnt seem a sure thing. I reloaded a few times to steak Wiegraf weapon and each time it overwrote the save.

If they permanently die just load and redo the battle.

The main reason you don't do this is because of enemy scaling but at some point that stops being a problem.

Pretty much the only reason to use other units is to level up a couple of the relevant unique-class characters for the oddball times that they become relevant (such as Worker for his "lol magic" bit).

Eh late game you get some units with unique jobs that are really good so you might want to switch anyway.

I hear they ported the PSP Meliadoul buffs which would make her pretty damn strong.

I was more just meaning for people who aren't interested in switching. Like, Orlandeau is famously one of the most OP characters in all of gaming but even then Arithmetician is *easily* the best class in the game. Plenty of late-game unique characters are really good, but in the end the biggest reason to run them outside of the oddball situations is "because I want to."

I had major doubts but its grown on me. Especially with the auto progress option you basically sit back and watch a little film for every scene. The timing is perfect for each line to hit the audience.

My only complaint is they replaced the death screams with VA and its lackluster imo. I get why they did it but Im just not getting the same emotion when they sputter out their little line. Plus if the kill action is too quick youll get both the killing blow line and the death line basically on top of each other and you cant tell what either person said.

Still pretty easy with Monk preemptive counter. Might need atheist buff for a few bosses too but otherwise a barehanded Ninja with the monk preemptive counter skill is basically invincible.
