Solasta for the PS5.

no free movement outside of combat (you have to click on a spot to have your character(s) move there) and different races needing to be purchased is pretty lame.

I've only played really little, so it's possible I might like it more/less the more time I put into it, but for the time being, I'm not sure if I will.

An assortment of stuff in the NES days because there just wasn't a lot of information. You basically bought everything by word of mouth or blind purchase and if you were lucky you got maybe a blurb in electronic gaming monthly and a screen capture or two or you just hoped the back of the back was representative enough of the game.

This happened a bit in the PS1 era to me as well because I didn't have Internet until 1999 and again, coverage was at a times lacking.

But basically since the PS3 era this hasn't really been an issue for me. Gameplay videos and the amount of information on games lets me judge with perfect accuracy whether I'm interested in a game or not and whether I think it is absolutely going to be awesome or whether I think it will just be "ok" but I go in with tempered expectations knowing it is going to be a mixed bag.

But I have never been so bored playing a video game. It wasn't even "bad" it was just so mediocre in every concievable way that no possible emotional reaction was possible. It was like it was scientifically created to be the most nothing dulling experience.

Dead Rising. I know a lot of people like the time limit, but I'm very glacial and when it comes to playing games, and tend to draw things out. Once I queued up some side missions and realized it was all timed, I didnt want to have anything to do with it.

its more playable with a controller surprisingly, especially with voice commands. the correct way to play is with a hotus, though do you really want to spend money on a controller for a game you dont think you'll like.

Helldivers. It inexplicably enabled mic passthrough, which made my noise cancelling headphones... Not. Very not. Worse than not having ANC on actually. AND THERE WAS NO OPTION IN GAME TO FIX IT! I had to turn the fucking mic driver for the headphones off in Windows. Not that I use that mic, but WHAT THE FUCK?! It went downhill from there.

Doesn't quite fit the topic because it wasn't "instant" but I was like 95% of the way through the game. Had been 100%ing it, exploring everything, doing everything. Having fun.

Then the game broke and my save reverted to the opening for no reason. Losing ALL my data.

That sucks but I'm prepared for crap like that, so I always have several backup saves.

NOPE!

The game is broken and can randomly replace your saves with a fresh file. If this happens, it effects ALL your save data. You have no choice but to delete everything and start over.

I looked it up and this was a common bug that the devs knew about from Day 1 and never fixed. That is utterly unacceptable.
