I hate being a fan of this fucking team, the winning is great but quite a bit of human garbage has been employed by them and an uncomfortable number of other fans just excuse all of it.

Same. It feels awful cheering for this team, but they're the closest we have here to a "home team" in the NFL after the Rams left.

I think Fusion/Link event just means you can only use Fusion and Links and no other ED types

Technically yes, but the unique event banlist changes a lot of other things too. They banned a bunch of floodgates, they hit some generic engines, they hit decks that don't use the extra deck at all, they banned Maxx C, and they hit the very best Fusion/Link decks to keep them from totally dominating the event.

I guess the first that comes to mind for me is Revue Starlight. Which maybe sounds like a weird answer since it got a sequel movie... but tbh I wasn't really that thrilled by the movie and thought the TV series was nice and conclusive as-is

That's funny that you mention Revue Starlight. I also liked the TV anime's ending and thought the sequel movie was unnecessary, but then the movie turned out to be absolutely amazing and provided (what I thought was) an even better ending than the TV series. We'll just have to agree to disagree on that one.

Ohhh, I figured you did the dub Cal, arent you typically a dub or die person?

Not at all. I'm a fan and defender of English dubs, but I still watch plenty of subbed anime just fine. It depends on the show and the situation.

Is there actually no legitimate way to stream Persona 4: The Animation these days? Like really crunchyroll, ya got P5A, a prologue episode to P5, a fucking P5 stage play, and fucking Persona 4 Golden, but not one of the actually good Persona anime?

https://www.livechart.me/anime/1199/streams

LiveChart says that Amazon Prime has it, but when I click the link, it says "This video is currently unavailable to watch in your location" on the Amazon page for it. If that's the case, I guess there currently isn't any legal streaming option for it, so you'll have to use "other means" to find it.

There are a lot of anime out there, but sadly, not all of them get the conclusion that they truly deserve. Some anime have their adaptations cut short with no proper conclusion in the hopes of coaxing people to go read the source material. Some anime are dragged on with pointless padding for way too long, with seemingly no end in sight. And some anime do get a proper ending, but it's one that feels like it came far too soon and leaves a lot of potential still on the table. Cases like these are all too common.

But still, there are those rare and special occasions where an anime avoids all of these and delivers a fantastic ending, one that comes at the right time without dragging too long or leaving too much on the table. For the start of this topic, name an anime that you've watched and enjoyed that you feel ended at the perfect spot and with a satisfying conclusion. For me, the most recent example of this that I've watched is The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady.

https://iili.io/J6KytO7.jpg

In a short 12 episodes, this series told an amazing story between the two leads and ended at the highest point of the story and their relationship. While there is more source material beyond this point, the way the anime handled the ending so well makes me genuinely hope that there's never a second season, because it wouldn't be nearly as good and it would retroactively make the first season feel less special.

What about you? What's an anime that you've seen that you felt had a perfect ending?

I gave Star Rail another try a few weeks ago, but quit before getting to the point I did originally. If it was a normal game without the gacha and item grind, Id probably like it.

I agree. If Star Rail was just a normal console RPG and not a gacha, I'd probably love it.

Speaking of console RPG's, has anyone heard anything about a release date for the Switch version of Reverse Collapse?

So what's everybody thinking of playing for the two events this month? We have a Limit 1 event (every card limited to 1 copy, plus some additional bans) and a Fusion/Link event coming up. On my side account, I'm set on Branded Tearlaments for Limit 1 and Marincess for Fusion/Link. On my main account, I'm set on Sky Strikers for Fusion/Link, but I'm having trouble figuring out what to play for Limit 1. I noticed that one of the loaner decks is a beast deck with Zoodiac, Tri-Brigade, and other stuff, and I do have a Zoodiac deck on this account, so I might throw together something similar to that loaner.

Phil and his team run the division. the higher ups may tell them what they want to see from their investments, but at the end of the day they make the decisions on how to make money off these investments, who to cut, who to close and what to cancel. They are just as responsible for all this, IMO.

https://www.ign.com/articles/phil-spencer-and-the-battle-for-xboxs-soul

I spoke to two former longtime Xbox employees, separately, and both lamented the current state of the business. One told me, prior to this weeks awful studio closures, I had lengthy conversations with a bunch of Xbox founders, and we all came to the same conclusion: its no longer Xbox, but Microsoft Gaming. Ouch.

The other chatted with me at length after the Bethesda bloodbath, and believes Xbox is now too big to quickly or easily get its house in order. There is just too much surface area. You have, effectively, three huge companies at play and Microsoft never really finished [the] integration with Bethesda. [And] Activision is like three times the size Xbox was. They added, Xbox 360 launched with a few hundred people. Last I heard Xbox is now almost 30,000 people.

And that growth has led to, in this Xbox veterans opinion, increased oversight and meddling from further up the Microsoft food chain. The reason this seems so inconsistent with previous Xbox leadership team statements is that these decisions probably aren't being made by Phil. This is all getting dictated by [Microsoft CEO] Satya [Nadella] and [Microsoft CFO] Amy Hood, and it all stems from the Activision acquisition.

The long-tenured ex-Xboxer continued: The situation Xbox was in when they made this call was much different. [They] couldn't keep consoles in stock, making money hand-over-fist with Game Pass growth [the Activision acquisition] seemed like a no-brainer.

"Now, console sales are down. Post-COVID recession. Game Pass slowing. The acquisition was more costly and time-consuming than anyone expected. And the focus on fighting the FTC probably cost them time they would have spent thinking through the people and studio implications.

I 100% believe this is a board-level decision. Xbox was a huge profit center, so Satya approved a huge merger. Now, games are slowing, and Microsoft stock is skyrocketing and there is no way Satya is going to let Xbox drag it down.

This is all my opinion, of course, butI'm fairly certain these are not decisions being made only by Xbox leadership.

Thats not to absolve Spencer for his role in all of this (unlike the tone-deaf Wont someone think of the multi-millionaire executives? response of former Xbox higher-up Mike Ybarra). He is, after all, the person in charge of the entire organization. The buck stops with him. The Bethesda and Activision-Blizzard acquisitions happened on his watch. As such, he is no more shielded from criticism for being, by most accounts (including my own), a nice guy than the star professional athlete is for underperforming on the field/court despite regularly signing autographs for kids before games.

So even sources within the gaming industry believe that there's a power struggle at Microsoft, with Phil Spencer and the Xbox team trying to go one way but Satya Nadella and the Microsoft higher-ups trying to go another way. It makes perfect sense, considering how much praise Spencer showered on Hi-Fi Rush for its success in the past only for this to happen now, seemingly against his own wishes. Obviously as the article says, Spencer and the Xbox division aren't blameless in all of this, considering it was the ABK acquisition that attracted more of the higher-ups' scrutiny on the Xbox division in the first place. But to put all of the blame on him and say that the higher-ups above him at Microsoft aren't influencing things is just incorrect.

Might have been useful like 15 years ago, but at the speed the game goes these days, it's worthless. Barely anything happens in the standby phase anymore aside from resolving lingering effects (which can't be negated at that time) and that extra draw effect is way too slow.
https://i.imgur.com/PmF1p9q.jpg
It genuinely feels like the Xbox division is being pulled in two directions right now. Phil Spencer, Matt Booty, and the games division want to keep making more great games with these studios, but the higher-ups above them at Microsoft were looking for ways to cut costs and saw these studios as expendable. They're not on the same page, and situations like this are a perfect example of that.
