I wonder how long it will take them to upload it after they're done?

I took a break from watching it at the end of 2011, but when I saw today that they were gonna livestream the end of it I've started to catch up, but I'm not gonna make it by 5.

It should be up by tomorrow right?

Just finished Episode 32 (the failed attempts at the Sunken Desert), I still have 9 to catch up on before the finale.

And also Russo booking isn't all bad. Properly filtered Russo booking is actually some of the best in the business. The problem is you have to filter out like 80-90% of his stuff out these days.

Disagree, mostly. I think Russo just had 2-3 years of good ideas in him and hasn't really had many good ones since.

I know the general consensus is "well he just needs someone like Vince to veto all his bad stuff," but really even that didn't work. 1999 WWF was horrifically booked. It was popular thanks to an unprecedented alignment of guys like Austin, Rock, Foley, and Taker who could cut through the crap and draw based on personality alone, but man was it a bad product.

TNA has been a breath of fresh air since he stepped down from the head booking spot and just sits as a regular member of creative. Like, I can watch an episode of Impact and almost literally see the difference.

Edge WAS the modern Flair, but then, well, he retired.

And yeah, they're TRYING to use Ziggler as a Jericho replacement, but they forget that Jericho actually got a fair amount of main event wins. Tainted wins, but pinfalls at least.

Ziggler saying "I beat CM Punk 4 times in 6 weeks" when they're all DQs, Countouts, and tag matches just doesn't hold a candle to "I pinned The Rock and Steve Austin in the same night."

As much as we loved HBK and Taker at Mania they did drop the ball there in not using HBK to make a guy or two be the next guys before he left,

In his last few years they used him to put over Kennedy and to cement Jericho as a main-eventer.

Remember, for all intents and purposes, WM 25 was the end of his career, the time from Summerslam '09--Wrestlemania 26 was like a bonus farewell tour where he just got to pal around with his buddy and have great matches and then go out with a bang.

People just want matches that are hard to predict

Gotta be VERRRY careful throwing that around though. That's the central tenet of Russo's philosophy.

Sensibly predictable is a million times better than unpredictable for unpredictability's sake.

This is also why Cody shouldn't dabble too much in the main event scene until at least after Summerslam, on the heel side.

They've laid a very good foundation with Cody. Years in a high-profile tag team, followed by years slowly ascending the singles ranks, picking up quality wins every now and then, and occasionally some losses when he oversteps his bounds, but he NEVER falls too far.

Whenever you think he might be slipping like after Bryan beat him and then he struggled a bit with Booker T, they always take the time to remind us that he can basically squash people like Ezekiel Jackson and Justin Gabriel.

If they keep this up through most of the year, occasionally poking his nose into the main event from time to time and making sure that he squashes a few midcarders to re-establish his base level after those forays fail, he should be good to go as a believable main-event heel that casuals actually respect by the end of the year. I can easily see him getting the Royal Rumble trial title shot next year, and winning a World Title by Summerslam 2013.

No MitB for Cody, please!

I'm starting to buy into that "the reason no one draws with the casual fans anymore is because they spend so much time jobbing that casual fans can't suddenly take them seriously" theory, though. I mean damn, Ryder's ratings are atrocious, and listen to the pops he gets.

That's one reason why Sheamus squashing Mahal again was probably one of the least crappy things last night. Even if it's the same guy over and over, I can at least respect them attempting to get Sheamus out of this trap and seen by casuals as someone who is strong enough to actually pick up win after win after win.

They may be putting no THOUGHT into Sheamus's direction, but at least they've positioned him as someone of a very high power level, and eventually that above anything else a lot of the time is what gets people to buy into someone.

There aren't a whole lot of stats to update from last year's version.

They were very careful not to disturb any records in the 2011 version so that they wouldn't have to add caveats in the future when they went back down to 30.

Some ideas I need some votes on:

1.) Do it the same as last year. Everyone randomly gets both a number and a wrestler.

2.) Everyone gets a random wrestler, but it's a Draft for the numbers--I would randomize a draft order and you would then select your own Entry Number to be eligible to win with.

3.) Mixed Draft: I select a Draft Order randomly, then in order everyone selects EITHER a number OR a wrestler. Double-winning is not possible this way, and now everyone only has one rooting interest instead of two, but more people control their own destiny.

He's on my list to be in it!

I just think he'd be one of the first guys cut to make room for a mystery entrant. <_<

EDIT: Basically he has no direction now thanks to Bourne's abrupt suspension, Hunico and Gabriel are getting more of a push in the Rumble season buildup, and since he just lost to Epico and Primo you would think they would both be in over him.

Kofi being tentatively in is based entirely on his past resume. If you just had me look at the last month of shows and pick the 30 guys most likely to be in, he might not even make it!

So let's say they still had one last year at WM instead of at the PPV.

At that point you scrap the Corre 8-man tag match, shorten up something else (ROCK'S PROMO), take JoMo and Dolph out of the Snooki match (Trish/Snooki vs. LayCool works just fine), and have MitB look like this:

JoMo
Dolph
Bryan
Sheamus
Barrett
Kane
Kofi
Show
Zeke
Santino

I think that improves WM, and it certainly doesn't hurt anything those guys were involved in post-WM.

It said "Randy Orton returns, next week on SmackDown" in the promo commercial for next week.

Not everyone on the Definitely In list has been stated as a Rumble participant. But if Randy Orton is back (as has been promoted to happen), wouldn't you ASSUME he'd be an entrant?

Looks like WWE is still not done screwing around with the PPV schedule.

The outlook NOW is that they've dropped MitB, to bring the match back to WM and only have 1 per year again, and have replaced the PPV with TLC.

Royal Rumble
Elimination Chamber
Wrestlemania
Extreme Rules
Over the Limit
Fatal 4-Way
TLC
Summerslam
Night of Champions
Hell in a Cell
Survivor Series
Vengeance

is what the schedule says now.

I'm not sure why Hunico, Justin Gabriel, Hornswoggle, or Heath Slater are on the top section of that list. Don't really seem like locks to me unless WWE officially announced them in some form.

Slater and Hornswoggle have been involved in segments that heavily implied that they would be in the Rumble.

Gabriel and Hunico are more tentative, but given their exposure levels recently they seem like safe assumptions to me. IMO there's no reason Gabriel takes that match against Rhodes except just to remind us that he exists before the Rumble, and Hunico and DiBiase are intertwined now, so either both are out or both are in.

Even taking everything at face value and presuming that Paterno didn't have any prior knowledge of Sandusky's alleged actions (which is a stretch), it still sets a very bad example for someone touted as a leader of men to just do the bare minimum of what's required when something this serious is at stake.

Legally, yes, Paterno covered his bases, but "just following school policy, no more no less" is not the sort of example he should be setting from his position.

He won national championships and became un-firable from a football perspective. Don't see how that's somehow different from what I was saying.

College Football is very much a "What have you done for me lately" business. If Nick Saban somehow managed to go .500 or worse over the next 3 or 4 seasons, even he would probably be on the hot seat, despite winning 2 National Titles in the last 3 seasons.

Paterno wasn't kept around through the '00s because of his past successes at football, and certainly not because of any sustained current success.

Why is he the face of the university? Because he's good at coaching football.

Crappy football coaches don't become the faces of their universities, they get b****ed at, fired, and forgotten.

Initially, yes, but because he was so well-respected and loved by all who he coached and mentored, that got him a lot of leeway and kept him his job through a lot of extremely mediocre seasons that many coaches would have been replaced for. It goes both ways.

He made some horrific lapses in judgment with regard to a man he considered a friend, and he rightfully got fired for those blunders, and his reputation got rightfully tarnished by it. But his reputation was strong enough to still be overwhelmingly good in spite of his grievous mistakes.

Well I'm sorry that you still seem to be unable to comprehend what Maniac is saying and are completely misinterpreting it.

Wow, the venue they did this set of ROH TV tapings from looks 10x better on TV than any of their other venues.

Nothing about Maniac's post had anything to do with "did good in football."

In the opposite direction, I feel like if Matt Hardy died this year that his career wouldn't get the credit it deserves, because of how HE self-destructed.

I feel like if you went up to a casual fan today (older than a little kid who doesn't know either guy, I'm talking the middle-aged manchildren) and asked them who was better, Eddie Guerrero or Bill Goldberg, I'm guessing Goldberg wins 80-20.

Also I think the fact that Eddie remains in your sig influences my perception that lots of people still care about him and rate him highly <_<

You said you were granting that smarks already loved him!

But him remaining in my sig has a lot more to do with him coming back from the brink of self-destruction to ascend to the top of the industry than it does with how great of a worker he was.
