From: ScareChan | #375 So this Chikara, ROH thing. How do I get into it because it sounds awesome
I would say "Buy the DVDs" but that's gonna be awkward because ROH DVDs take months to come out while CHIKARA's are available within a week after the event.
...seriously, what's up with that?

The worst thing about Sting vs. Hardy really is that TNA knew Jeff was in no condition to compete and still threw him out there.
If Bischoff had just made up some BS about Jeff having travel problems and inserted Upper Midcard Heel X to improv his way through 10 minutes with Sting, it wouldn't be half as bad.

From: Bidoof | #371 See, I think just voting for Hardy vs. Sting overlooks the main problem: the belt should have never been put on Jeff Hardy. Hell, Jeff Hardy should have not been hired in the first place since he was still under indictment. That main event was a horrible way to end an already horrible show, but did it really do any more damage to TNA than anything else TNA has done?
Well to be fair, Jeff didn't screw anything up during his actual title reigns. The Victory Road incident was his rematch clause after losing it to Sting.
Hardy vs. Sting takes the cake for me because I actually PAID for that show. <_<

Cole is probably the best winner in the SPIRIT of the award (basically the most embarrassing creative decision of the year) since Hardy vs. Sting was not intended to go down that way. I can admit that.
I just think that Hardy vs. Sting was the absolute worst thing to happen on-screen this year, even topping all of Cole's garbage combined.

I still maintain that Heel Cole actually was worth experimenting with back at the beginning of 2011. They just don't seem to realize that it didn't succeed. <_<

-- At this point we appeared to be headed for an intermission when all the arena lights went out, and standing at the ramp was former Winnipegger Y2J Chris Jericho, dressed in his awesome lighted jacket. Crowd went nuts for Jericho who came to the ring and did his usual posing for the crowd for 5 minutes. Jericho finally grabbed the mic and it seemed like he was finally going to speak when....
-- David Otunga comes out and says Jericho is not welcome on his show, even if it is his hometown. He demands that Jericho remove his jacket, as it is a safety hazard and may cause epilepsy.

From: SythaWarrior | #348 I rewatched the 2004 rumble and I have to say I think from the stretch where Angle comes out to the end has to be the best stretch in a royal rumble. Like 2k2 and 92 might be better rumbles but the end of 04 is really good. Or maybe I'm not remembering a really good section in another rumble.
The absolute best "section" in any Royal Rumble is 2007, #28-finish.
But I'm not sure where you get the impression that 2004 is underrated. It's consistently rated as a Top Two Rumble, either ahead of '92 or right behind it.
I think you're thinking of 2001 that's also considered a great Rumble, not 2002 which is only good for the Taker/Maven stuff and #19-finish.

If he can make it to Extreme Rules, though, he'll pass The Miz by one day and be the longest-reigning WWE Champion since Triple H's 2008 reign that spanned from Backlash to Survivor Series and carried over from Raw for the first few months to SmackDown for the last few months (as a way to artificially make the reign seem fresher by injecting new challengers)

And even though his turban is still culturally appropriate, I have severe doubts that WWE added it to his wardrobe with cultural sensitivity in mind. <_<

I guess if you want to limit who you ally an English wrestler with to "wrestlers of nationalities that England has never pissed off," you'd have a pretty short list.

From: SmartMuffin | #322 Also with Sheamus, with all the feuding he's been doing with Wade, it seems crazy to me that nobody is bringing up the natural hatred between the English and Irish. I assume this is because nobody on WWE staff actually knows anything about history or other cultures whatsoever.
Speaking of which, Jinder and Wade being such easy allies seems weird. <_<

Well the last time SD had a Golden Age was the Summer of 2009, where the angles and the wrestling were both top-notch.
Punk's second cash-in and slow heel turn against The Charismatic Enabler Jeff Hardy Chris Jericho vs. Rey Mysterio feuding over the IC Title and Rey's mask Edge and John Morrison rounding out what fans affectionately call "The Second SmackDown Six."
Meanwhile on Raw you had: Randy Orton vs. Triple H vs. John Cena in various permutations from June through November over the WWE Title Kofi Kingston doing what he does best in the midcard, grabbing the US Title and sitting on it, defending it randomly without feuds. And then to end the summer you had the return of DX and their feud with DiBiase/Rhodes.

From: SmartMuffin | #312 I feel like this is the first time in MANY years that Smackdown has been prohibitively better and more interesting than RAW across the board.
Heck, IMO this was true as recently as October.
And you're probably right about the televised World Title matches, especially if you count TNA.

**JUST SPOILER TAG ALL MY POSTS UNTIL I SAY STOP I GUESS**
The really weird thing about this is that (for now at least) it's centered around a CHIKARA pairing teaming up to go after the ROH Tag Titles, and if there's anything "to prove" they would be the ones proving it, but they aren't the CHIKARA Campeones.
In fact, the current Campeones probably wouldn't be able to be used in this feud for the exact same reasons you just gave for Ricochet (and there's also Gargano's mystery illness but hopefully that clears up).
Kinda awkward!

From: Wanglicious | #305 think they can drag in PWG too?
PWG and ROH share too many guys for that to really work. I mean, yeah, people like Steen and the Young Bucks would probably flip to PWG but as far as bringing unique guys in for an angle it would be who, Super Dragon, Ricochet, the RockNES Monsters, and Joey Ryan?

Tonight's ROH card in Philly (essentially their first canonical card of the year since the TV tapings haven't aired yet) and my thoughts on the matches and guesses on how good they will be:
ROH World Title Match Davey Richards (c) vs. Jay Lethal I'm actually very interested in this match not due to the outcome (Davey retains) but for the clash of styles, and to see where the crowd support lies. Lethal works a very crowd-pleasing style, and Davey captures every crowd through pure grit and workrate. This could be a **1/2 semi-trainwreck or it could be a ***3/4 fresh change of pace from recent ROH main events, with not a lot of ground in the middle (and I wouldn't wager too much on going over **** either).
No Holds Barred Eddie Edwards vs. Roderick Strong This weekend seriously needs to be the end of the 3-way Davey/Strong/Edwards feud. Eddie's got this blowoff match tonight, and then Davey gets Strong in a tag match tomorrow night, and then PLEASE let this group be done with each other. ****1/4 MotN, but it'll be the same MotN that's been happening for months except this time with some more brawling.
Proving Ground Match The Briscoe Brothers vs. Jigsaw/Hallowicked Always glad to see that ROH doesn't take itself so seriously that CHIKARA can't co-exist in the same universe. I don't expect the CHIKARA team to last the 15 minutes and get the title shot. Briscoes pull it out in the 13th minute, ***1/4
Four Corner Survival Tommaso Ciampa vs. Andy Ridge vs. Grizzly Redwood vs. Mike Bennett What a weird grouping. I'll say Ciampa pins Grizzly, Ridge pins Bennett, and then Ciampa pins Ridge. I have no clue how they expect to branch Bennett off into any new direction given these opponents unless it's a feud with Ridge. **
Chris Hero vs. Michael Elgin Should hopefully be Hero's final ROH match as he moves to the big time, and with Elgin's title shot coming soon, tanking Hero's elbows should be a great way to keep building him as Unbreakable. Elgin wins, ***1/2
Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team vs. Future Shock Haas/Benjamin will cement their heel turn, Cole/O'Reilly will continue to tease their breakup, WGTT win, ***1/2
Kenny King vs. Kevin Steen Could be ***3/4, or could be more angle than match. Hard to predict anything with Steen these days and that's what makes the angle great. Steen presumably wins to get him back on the road towards a title shot, although ROH finding a way to screw him wouldn't be out of the question. I think they'll save that for later though. Steen wins, ***3/4

For those interested, this week's WWE house show events feature:
Punk vs. Ziggler for the WWE Championship in a continuation of their house show series. Show vs. Henry vs. Bryan for the WHC in a cage, reverting back to this matchup after a couple weeks of just Show vs. Bryan. Cody vs. Ted for the IC Title (a sign of a future challenger for Cody?) Barrett vs. Orton (Sunday only), in Orton's return to action from his injury. And of course the long-running Cena vs. Kane match they've been doing since December.

Just finished NXT, we should definitely synchtube it later.
NXT Heel Cole on commentary (the only place his unique brand of burial really works) with his old foil Josh, a really goofy heel turn, a pro wrestling wedding, HEATH SLATER, security camera footage, and finally an answer as to how Heel Cole and Heel Bryan can co-exist.
Just a beautiful show.

Right, but to say "Well that cleared up these feuds" and then two months later start new feuds between the exact same people doesn't exactly put over the concept that "Hell in a Cell is the END to all this."

From: 14_and_counting | #246 The only feuds that carried over from EC1 was Shawn and HHH, which makes sense, they feuded for ever, and one was the previous Champion. All the other feuds more or less stopped intertwining, the whole point of the match.
Disagree. RVD got an immediate title shot against HBK, Jericho and HBK continued to feud after HBK dropped the title, Booker ended up fighting Triple H for the title at WM, RVD and Kane ended up teaming together soon after, Triple H ended up unmasking Kane...these 6 remained intertwined for the next 8 months.
As for 6 man HiaC. Rikishi and Taker were completely dropped, Austin and HHH continued to feud, as did Angle and everyone, but it was not like the multi man feuds continued.
Disagree. Austin, Rock, Taker, and Rikishi were treated as HUGE Rumble favorites and all targeted each other. Rikishi dropped out of the picture after the Rumble, sure, but No Way Out and Wrestlemania both had 2 matches each consisting solely of Armageddon HiaC opponents. HiaC settled jack squat.
