Note that when I say I'd give Alex biomass, this doesn't mean he gets an aethereal biomass bag that never runs out. He'd have to absorb it and given how Foul overpowers him that doesn't seem like something he'll be able to do.
@Silencer: 15. Mewtwo only barely failed to mercy It.

Oh, no, that ritual works on a lot of stuff. I was just using it as an example because it was an unraveling force of immense power.

Some_Character posted... And what exactly is "sufficient force"? A mere powerful punch or a continent-destroying blast? Does it have to be delivered in one blow or can the damage be built up? Are there any examples of Lord Foul getting defeated?
There's a ritual that 'destroys' him. He doesn't actually die, but it's close.

For the record: this is just my interp, but I'd give Alex a way to absorb biomass in the terrain. Others may disagree, of course, but it wouldn't be a fair match if he didn't have access to fuel for his abilities.

The Rules:-Matches will last exactly 24 hours. Votes after that much time has elapsed will not be counted, even if a new topic hasn't gone up yet. -This is a contest to determine which character is the most *powerful*. Vote only for the character you think would win in a fight, not the one who's funnier, cooler, or sexier. If you don't do that I can't count your vote. - BOLD YOUR VOTE. Unbolded votes will NOT be counted. -Rallying is allowed. Alts are not. -Fights will take place in a neutral terrain. This does not necessarily mean a *featureless* terrain: assume that both characters will have a chance to use all of their skills to the fullest here, barring setting-specific abilities and anything that requires the presence of multiple enemies (but see below). -Characters start the fight alone. They don't bring allies with them, like Kerrigan and the Zerg Swarm for instance. Summons are allowed though, provided they're brought once combat has started. -Fighters retain their usual personalities. They won't fight to kill unless that's their MO, and won't spam their best attacks to win unless, again, that's how they act in their original media. -You don't have to justify your vote, but it helps. If you feel like you can add something to the debate, go right ahead! -Seriously, BOLD THE VOTE. So important it bears repeating. -Bracket Link, for viewing past results and future matches: http://www.bracketmaker.com/tmenu.cfm?&tid=408528&tclass=Past Results:Mewtwo was easily able to overcome his fears, crushing It to the tune of 16-2. (4) Lord Foul Lord Foul the Despiser is the primary antagonist of The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant. An ancient and seemingly immortal being, he traveled the universe planting evil powers said to be capable of tearing planets apart so that later beings would find them and destroy themselves until the Creator was able to defeat him, and establish the Arch of Time to seal him away in The Land, a single continent. Foul possesses incredibly powerful magical abilities, enough that at full power, direct combat against him would likely cause enough damage to destroy the world. In addition to using his powers for direct destructive means, Foul and those he empowers have used a variety of indirect abilities including manipulating the weather, resurrecting shades of the dead, and summoning creatures that induce extreme fear in all who witness them, though these abilities generally require time to use. Foul has an inherent power over the undead, able to perfectly enslave any who violate the Law of Death. In addition, his nature as equal and opposite to the Creator means that he cannot be defeated by any power not guided by free will, and attempts to carry artifacts containing mere fractions of his power inevitably corrupt the bearers into serving his will. Though he is apparently immortal, sufficient force directed against him or he himself utilizing all the power at his disposal can nonetheless leave him powerless for many centuries at a time. (Cont)

(5) Alex Mercer From Prototype, Alex Mercer is an amnesiac with superhuman abilities. Alex has superhuman strength (he can lift cars, helicopters, and the outer shells of tanks), speed (he can run as fast as city-traveling cars), agility (he can flip and maneuver around debris with ease) and durability (he can reform from a nuclear explosion so long as there is something to absorb to reform). He can also glide, is durable enough to survive direct hits from missiles and tank shells, and can leap across a city block. Alex's primary ability is to absorb organic matter of living creatures, which gives him health boosts and grants him all the knowledge, experience, memories and skills of what he has absorbed. He can manipulate this excess biomass into augmentations for various weapons, shields, or full body armor; when he takes biomass to the extreme he can unleash it in powerful area-of-effect attacks called devastators. Alex's offensive weapons include claws, hammerfists (large hammers), blades, and whipfists (a ranged attack of sorts).

"Greatest fear" was never something intangible like "reliving days as a slave" anyway right? It just manifests as a giant spider or some other physical moving thing. Besides, if normal kids can fear nothing, Mewtwo might do the same anyways, especially if he believes himself to be the strongest.
Haven't watched either of the source materials though, (except dubbed Pokemon a long time ago).Correction: defeated by normal humans empowered by The Other, the entity that created Pennywise, and probably Gan (if you ever read Dark Tower). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gan_%28Stephen_King%29More info and a little speculation there.

Man. I just realized it. Playing a carry in LoL is basically all footsies. It's all about baiting an attack, punishing it, and always staying safe from retaliation. How did I miss this before? I need to go watch Sirlin's SFT vids again, and then see if I can find direct example in LoL or the MOBA genre at large of what I'm talking about. I think I could up my game a ton just by doing that.

I'm pointing out this is not the case, because a form of discrimination on the same level as the one that religious people face, for instance, isn't exactly 'terrible'. Could it be better? Sure. If you consider it a debatable subject...yeah, it pretty much is. I just don't think it's worth getting so worked up over.
PS: I stand by the fact you're really not aware of how well off you are though. You think gays are second class citizens in the USA? Nooooooooo, my man, a second class citizen is a dude who literally can't get a job because of his looks and station, dooming him to a perpetual cycle of poverty. THAT is a second class citizen. What gays are is a group in the middle of a transition into becoming a fully accepted minority. No more, no less.

Widely regarded as one of the most powerful Pokemon in existence, Mewtwo possesses telepathic and telekinetic abilities, including summoning a barrier to protect himself; teleporting; an energy attack called Shadow Ball, which is powerful enough to destroy a building; and Hyper Beam, which fires a large beam from his mouth. Mewtwo was also able to Disable almost fifty Pokemon at once, preventing them from using any attacks. Mewtwo has also used his powers to create large-scale illusions of hurricanes, wipe the memories of large groups of people, and unleash large amounts of destruction; he destroys the Team Rocket headquarters at one point. He also teleported an entire island, lake, and spring into a small cave. The human mind cannot perceive It's true form, instead seeing only a gigantic spider, which is capable of devouring a man's arm in one bite. It also possesses the ability to form a mental connection to a target, dragging the victim's mind through empty space and eventually into It's true form beyond the boundaries of the universe, what It calls the Deadlights, the experience of which will consume the mind of whoever witnesses it; The victim can attempt through willpower and imagination to resist the effect, however. Being defeated in this test of wills causes severe, near-"fatal" harm to It.

That's mostly because we do not share interests, AFAIK. I've actually seen you a lot because I'm always interested in your music/current events topics!
But seriously, this topic took a very lame turn, because you kind of flipped over a bunch of responses. Icon's comes to mind in particular - he spoke very clearly from a subjective, personal standpoint and you went into victim mode and said "should have figured you straight people wouldn't 'get it'!". It was really, really puzzling, too, because the first post seemed pretty sane, but then you degraded into lots of crying about an unfair lot in life, not being understood by straight people and lots of very emo stuff. Of all the points you've made since then, like 2 have been legitimately good, out of 12, and the rest has been lots of crying. Speaking from experience, for instance, your complaints about gay people being second class citizens in your society is wrong. I live in the middle of nowhere (as in, not north america, not europe, third world country nobody cares about, etc. etc. etc.), and you really, really don't know what actual ignorance and stupidity looks like, nor bigotry. My society doesn't even have racial or religious divides to speak of and yet it manages to compensate for it and be more prejudiced than your nation is, for instance. It absolutely puzzles me how you went into an absolute, unjustified *****-fest like that when you've probably never even tried considering *actual* life changing decisions and traits as opposed to a simple case-by-case thing like sexual orientation. Have you ever thought about not having a single friend, for instance? As-in, just having yourself, your family, and your own thoughts to keep you company? That's an unarguably life-altering issue that I don't think a single person would contest as not being huge, even subjectively (except people who are already like that I guess). So why take something that isn't on that scale, and flip out like that?

Heroic Common Sense posted... Oh hey, it's Mer's weekly "I'm gay, give me attention please" topic.
Being straight definitely doesn't mean I bring up my sexual preference every 5 minutes on the internet for sympathy and brownie points, and I say this as the gayest straight guy ever who has put up with a LOT of abuse from family and peers over it. I mean yeah I'm not officially gay or whatever, but I know what the abuse can be like and I have a decent idea of how my life would be different were I born gay instead of straight. Gay people deal with some of the worst hate humanity has to offer, but that doesn't mean gay people are allowed to parlay this into treating people like garbage. There's a reason you're made fun of Mer and not, say, Ed Bellis or ExThaNemesis. Ed doesn't act mean toward people and then hide behind a sexual preference afterwards. In fact he doesn't act mean toward anyone ever. You'd do well to talk to him.

Peace___Frog posted... By "low power" I mean I don't think it'll be a lot of burst or anything. If you're using it on wraiths (which is what the animation looks like) then it's not an ability where you go "oh I should save this for when it's good to use" - no, you just use it whenever.
No, it means they're just showing you what it looks like because there's too many changes there. MF's art showed her ulting golem, for reference.

And they don't hold a candle to the better game stories for the most part. Too much melodrama, not enough knowing when to go low or gritty.

For example, seems odd we'll never get another Mario 64.

@NeoElfboy: If you can't say that Crono's death isn't powerfully written I just don't know what to tell you. That's an *excellent* example of a very compelling scene that could go into a text book. It's like YOU died and you're watching it all unfold pretty much.
@Everybody else: The problem is that you can't make a top-of-the-line set of graphics and a top notch world anymore. You have to pick one and go low on the other because the costs of production have gone up faster than the means to create an environment that looks great have had its use facilitated and made cheaper. FFXIII had amazing graphics, but crap for a story both because of a bad devteam and because RPGs cost a TON. Think about it: how many great jRPGs have we had this gen on consoles? And how many are technical marvels, too? Tales of Vesperia looks great, sure, but that's more on its art direction than on its graphical power. It's a tough tradeoff the larger companies aren't entirely willing to make because they're held to a standard of excellence, while smaller groups like Atlus can get away with it, and it creates a large gap in styles. This is why we get a ton of DS rpgs BTW, not because it's a better platform for them or whatever.

Speaking of 'ups', the first topic will go up at 6 PM EST, as I've crunched out writeups for all characters (If anyone wants to submit one for a character that isn't Mewtwo or IT, there's time until their first match though, so go right ahead)! Stay tuned, get ready, and GET HYPE.

Fox sounds SO awful on that first line. The complaints there are valid, I started fearing the worst when I heard that.
Then I went through the rest of the video SHINE posted and I ended up with this massive grin on my face. Slippy sounds better, Peppy sounds the same or better, Falco sounds better. I can deal with a slight loss on Fox's voicing quality when I get such a badass Falco!
PS: Also, need to watch that spanish Star Fox vid later. Seeing how I'll be able to get everything they say it'll probably sound extra campy!

Dauntless Hunter posted... I got plenty of game overs in TP, in fact that's where I stopped the game. Well, where I stopped for good. I had stopped playing for several months while I was in the middle of the Goron Mines because I just didn't like it at all. Later I decided to give it another try. I continued my game from where I left off in the Goron Mines and immediately came up against the sub-boss. There was some trick to beating him that you had demonstrated to you shortly before, but I hadn't played that part in like a year. Midna was all "Do it just like you did in the other room!" and I was like "Uhhhh...?" and I died a bunch. There was a one-way door situation so I couldn't go back to the old room and get it re-explained to me, and I wasn't about to start over and suffer through the goat-wrangling and every other bit of tedious bull**** I had already done. I tried looking up a FAQ but the first one I checked didn't explain it and at that point I'd expended all the effort I was willing to put into that terrible game.
A game doesn't work if you quit it for months? Shock of shocks!
(you really must not like RPGs, strategy games, or decent run and guns either!)

ChichiriMuyo posted... Everyone Since KP = not terrible people.
Yeah, the game has flaws. I dare you to point out a game that doesn't. But those flaws become redeemable qualities the more you play the game. Suddenly remembering which bush to burn or where to drop a bomb becomes a reward mechanic of its own. Instead of just bombing where the cracks are or lighting the torches because there's literally nothing else to do in the palace (I'm looking at you, first torch puzzle I faced in LttP), you actually worked to know something about the game.
And you know what, anyone who loves games like Mega Man and Contra did basically the same thing, but with more twitch reaction required. You learn to do the appropriate thing at the appropriate time and after several playthroughs ('cause the majority of games have generally been rather short throughout the entire history of video gaming) you start to become quite good at interacting with such an "obtuse" (someone else's word for finding dungeon 8*) world.
The 3d games, though, they don't give you that. They hold your hand all the way through the first time and hold your hand all the way through every time after. You don't feel like you discovered anything when your companion is always, every time, yelling "HEY LISTEN!... There's some secret **** right here"
*Look at that bush. Look at it. It screams "BURN ME!"
Work to me implies something like DKC2, a dialog with the designer where he's pointing you forward and letting you put everything together, not "try everything and see what sticks" moon logic. Unless you're the kind of guy who defends pit jumping in the original DKC, or the Bela Ring quest in the Dark Savant saga of Wizardry. The later Zeldas make it too easy, but Zelda 1's flaws are just that, flaws. Not good design in any way, shape, or form.

'Low power' does not compute when you read "gains a percentage of her attack damage". Riven sounds like a posterchild for brut+HoG+Atmogs+Thirster or something. If you can get 300ish AD (and it should be easy to hit 250 at least), even a 30% bonus will mean she'll carry really hard. Make that 50-62.5-75 and she becomes a Yorick-tier carry with her FIVE offensive moves.

And yeah, NP bio, we're cool. I absolutely despised the pirate when he first got megabuffed - trust me, what you're dealing with right now has nothing on the plank who slapped down a 40% slow on you at level 2 with lizard and who got double the gold from each creep. Having seen him at his absolute worse the current version is SUPER strong, but not broken. You'll see what I mean as you go up and fight more Oriannas, Garens, and possibly Brands.
