I'm not sure if companies can just write off executive compensation as "operating costs" but it wouldn't surprise me if there is some shitty thing they can do in order to do that. It also wouldn't surprise me if a lot of the "research and development" budget was just personnel costs. Big companies have found all sorts of shitty ways to dodge taxes and cook their books in order to look less profitable (and thus less taxable) than they actually are.

Absolutely. With gig work and endless subscriptions, the GDP is counting more and more things that don't actually produce value, just rent-seeking making things more expensive. DoorDash absolutely makes money. How could they not when all they do is provide an app? They don't have to maintain a vehicle fleet or even a large workforce, that's all provided by the "contractors". They suck up a huge portion of the prices that the customers pay. The reason why they don't show a profit on paper is because they pay ridiculously high compensation for their executives. They also allocate lot of money for research and development to find ways to increase their margin and because R&D gets beneficial tax treatment.

The "gig economy" is just techno-feudalism and it skews the unemployment numbers low because technically gig workers are working, even if they're earning less than minimum wage, don't enjoy standard worker protections, and have to bear the costs of vehicle maintenance, insurance, fuel, etc. It's one reason why the rosy economic numbers don't agree with the economic realities of workers. It's been an issue since the great recession of 2007-2009.

MIDI isn't really an audio format, it's more like a sort of digital sheetmusic. Has the notes and the durations and the instruments to use and then it's up to whatever is playing it to actually be able to convert that into sound.

That's still an audio format, it's described differently than a waveform, but it still describes audio.

It's all software emulation of a MIDI device at this point on all platforms, as far as I know. It's too bad iPhones don't have one built-in, it's still a useful format and it's still getting updates (MIDI 2.0).

Grew up with both, still use both. Just whichever i happen to grab. Only really use it for cereal so dont really notice a difference at all.

The higher fat content of whole milk goes well with the often low-fat cereal.

Exclusively skim milk. Not that I ever had more than my one "required" glass a day and even that was full of chocolate because I hated plain milk. I just don't drink milk anymore. I'm not sure any of my family does after realizing that all ads about it were dairy lobby bullshit.

Growing up, my family went with 2% because of the "FAT = BAD" bullshit that was big in the 80s and 90s. We didn't go with skim because that shit is gross.

I don't know if we can trust Famitsu ever since they relaxed scoring standards around two decades ago. A 34 is pretty low given the kinds of scores they give since then. I wish so hard for this to be a great game because I want the series to thrive, but I've been used to disappointment from this series, with the only standout game to me being Trials and its remake. Legend of Mana gets praise too, but it wasn't my cup of tea at the time. I should really give it another go.

The aid to Ukraine almost died in the house and passed by a hair. The stalling of that aid by the republican party cost thousands of lives and might even yet cost the war.

and the democrats kissing israel's ass is costing thousands of lives in Palestine as we speak. The likely outcome is that israel occupies even more of Gaza, if not all of it. Many will die and many more will be removed from their homes. It's obvious their goal is to completely eradicate Palestine and make it all israel. It's likely not going to stop there, either.

The key difference is that the US is actually doing something about Russia's invasion and continues to do so. In fact, a number of speakers at the DNC have highlighted how strong the US's commitment is to this cause and contrasted it with Trump's stance. That's great, however, these protestors who want to speak up for Palestine aren't even allowed a word on stage about the genocide happening in Palestine that the US is actively aiding in. The best they get is being told off with "Trump would probably be worse". Can you imagine if we let Ukraine fall and then shrugged our shoulders and said "Trump would aid Russia even harder"?

They've publicly called for a ceasefire but are not sincere about it. There have been a number of proposals that even hamas has agreed to, but israel doesn't want to go through with any of them, so the US continues to claim that they're pushing for a ceasefire deal without intending to actually agree to one. Additionally, while a week or two pause to the genocide is better than nothing, it is pathetic compared to what the US could actually force, which is an actual end to hostilities.

The democratic party emphasizes party unity above almost anything else, so them settling on a candidate this quickly shouldn't have come as much of a surprise. It's true that it could've been screwed up and democrats often are great at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, but coalescing around a single candidate is usually something they excel at. They previously did it for Biden, after all.
