some of us never wanted Squeenix to dump millions of dollars and more than a decade of effort into a remake when they could have just created new, interesting ideas instead. like, FF7 is good, but nowhere near good enough to justify spending 60-80 hours three separate times, especially in disconnected chunks ~5 years apart.

for me, part of it is. when my grandmother passed, she left me money in a trust and i paid off my house with part of it. what's left composes about ~40% of my net worth. the rest is from a lifetime of frugal living / inexpensive tastes combined with a decent paying job ($139k rn).

Apply for a spot?

rehab facilities only have so many open slots. you basically ask for a spot and get put on a waitlist if none are available. i've been to rehab before, they do a 'pre screening' where they ask you questions about what you use, how often, how it impacts your life, etc to see if rehab is appropriate for you.

Nirvanas_Nox posted...
In rehab centers. Some are actually pretty decent but most are total trash and don't help the people who go there.

i found them helpful both in terms of stopping in the short term and for learning tools that help with long term success. my problem was that i didn't want to get sober and i was only in rehab because other people wanted me to be. when *i* finally wanted to stop drinking, it happened.

So if you didn't get caught committing a crime with drugs or whatever and had a clean record but asked for help with your addiction they just cuff ya?
..

not quite. we do have 'free' treatment programs that are paid for with tax dollars. you can apply for a spot, but those usually have long wait lists and are not the best quality.

but if you do get caught with drugs, you are treated as a criminal instead of a patient.

here in America we don't help them. at all. we treat them like criminals and lock them up, then put charges on their permanent record that ensures finding any employment once they're released will be nearly impossible.

we kinda suck in this regard
