I say "new" only because I've only recently encountered them in my sphere, mostly because there's plenty of overlap with TERFs as they believe they're protecting women, but I'm sure they've been around for a while.

But yeah, according to them apparently surrogacy is "selling babies". "Ripping the baby from their mother."

Even though it's a process that has to be fully consensual throughout.

They actually did release it kinda.

If they were to make an actual console it would just be a set top android box gutted and made so that it automatically launches this app on boot and cannot be exited.

Ahh yes the app I completely forgot about that part.

Reminder that Atari is not "Atari". They are Infogrames who bought the Atari label and just called themselves Atari.

Intellivision itself is a pretty defunct brand. It had a slight resurgence in the PS2 era when former Mattel Electronics programmers secured the license and started putting out compilation games, such as "Intellivision Lives" and "Intellivision Rocks".

Then the main stakeholder, Keith Robinson, who was in charge of Intellivision Productions and one of those former programmers, died in 2017.

Tommy Tallarico bought a major stake in the company in 2018 and spearheaded the push for a new "family friendly" Intellivision console called the "Amico", which kinda looks like the old Intellivision given a modern "Apple"-style spin.

They were going to release the console in 2020, but the pandemic hit and they continued to post delays to the console's release. It's probably in one of those dead-limbo situations where it'll likely never see the light of day.

Given that Infogrames says they still want to release the console (rather than trying to refresh the brand as another "retro" resurgence), I don't think we can expect much from this, except the continued slow death of Intellivision as a brand.

Really good puzzle game, the latest Simogo joint, the same folks who made Sayonara Wild Hearts.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abx4_UzW-uc

Very much of the "you're dropped into an environment and kinda have to figure out what the puzzles even are". I suppose if I have to compare it to anything at the moment I'd compare it to The Witness first, as the story is kept very minimal, and although there is character interaction in the game, it's pretty muted: a simple scene of a character talking to you and then walking off, for example.

The aesthetic is black-and-white. The environment is a hotel in rural Germany and its immediate surrounding area. The only bits of color are "Danganronpa Pink" of the "might be paint, might be blood" variety, but there's also that same pink color in the eponymous laser eyes when they come into play.

The puzzles are varied, but at least for now they're normal brain teasers: solve this number puzzle to get a four-digit code. Get information in one place and use it in another. Interpret this document because it gives you the solution.

I suppose my only complaint so far is that the controls were purposely made too simple. It is, in fact, a one-button game. You walk around and move around with the stick/d-pad and any of the other controller buttons all do the same thing, either interact with something when you're focused on it, or open up the main menu if you're not focused on anything. This does lead to some frustration as, since it's one-button, there's no "back" button, so if I get four menus deep into the main menu, I manually have to move the highlight up to the "X" to back up, rather than just push a button for it. This also translates to certain puzzles; for example, if I'm solving a combination lock, I push the "one-button" to rotate a dial, and if I accidentally go past the number I want, I have to go all the way back around instead of just having a way to reverse direction.

To the game's credit, it goes to great lengths to keep track of things for you. Your menu records everything you've seen that is important and worth recording, although there's still value in having a pen, paper, and calculator handy.

I streamed it for three hours yesterday and got about 33% through, so this looks to be about a ten-hour game, but that'll vary depending on your puzzle skills. Things might drag out for me once I get to the nastier puzzles, but who's to say.

I'll definitely see it through and my chat convinced me to do so on stream, so we'll see how it goes.

Every time someone says they hated that they had to grind and prepare for that fight specifically, the only thing I can think of is that when you consider the idea that Majima and Saejima are godlike legends, narratively the whole idea makes perfect sense.

(but if you were to complain that you had to go through a mini-dungeon to reach that fight, and had to do it all again after preparing, that's a legit complaint)
