I rewatched Pirates of the Caribbean a while ago and totally forgot about that random black lady pirate who slaps Jack Sparrow (and is the only woman in the whole movie he kowtows to, and is arguably his second in command during the last act of the film)

I do have a lot of fondness and nostalgia for Hank Henshaw though. When I was a kid I my parents got me this massively thick Death/Return of Superman book that I read all the time, thought he was cool.

Ghostbusters as a film franchise died with Harold Ramis as far as I'm concerned. But even then I've never been "into" Ghostbusters that much besides the original movies. I think I kinda liked the animated version from the 90s when I was a kid but even then it wasn't something I was dedicated on like Batman or Beast Wars. >_>

is it deliberate manipulation to deflect from their actions?
have they convinced themselves that when *they* do it, it's a temporary failing and that they're not "really" a pedo?
do they believe they've been "forgiven" by a religion or something and that it's ok to keep doing it so long as they maintain a specific ritual?
are they just really stupid and manage to completely compartmentalize their predatory behavior from their speech, never making the connection in the first place?

I've also got a huge soft spot for janky licensed fighters. Digimon Battle Spirit for the GBA and Godzilla for the GameCube had a lot of charm.

I'll give you the professor (the only point in the game I caved and used "switch" instead of "set") but other than that everyone else sucked.

I really liked its gameplay loop for filling out the pokedex. Once I did that though I never felt any desire to go back to it. The campaign was weak, the map was boring to navigate, it had some of the weakest boss trainers in the franchise, and literally no actual villain.

The little endgame quest was really cool though. Wish...the entire damn rest of the game could've been as good as that.

Also that one salaryman gym leader who was entirely over everyone's shit and was just clocking in to get paid was cool. I liked him.

What is the point of doing things in any order if levels are going to be scaled? Lower level areas being too easy is the trade-off for doing higher level areas before you're ready.

Do agree on the catching mechanic though. If a player takes the risk of entering a high level area they should be able to get the rewards. (Especially since the obedience mechanic is supposed to be the thing balancing that out)

On one hand, how shitty this is largely depends on tone.

On the other hand, I don't think I could ever word it in such a way where I tell my kid "shut up about (thing you like)". Maybe it's just because my parents were so dismissive and flippant of any interest I had, I eventually stopped talking to them about anything lol.

The Joker teaser was interesting in that he seemed much more composed and methodical than he's normally portrayed. Curious to see what direction they go with him.

Was disappointed they killed off Two-Face. Would've preferred to see him turn full villain, though I think this might be my favorite depiction of his origin.

I think my favorite episodes were the scifi/supernatural ones. Clayface, Gentleman Ghost (can we please see more Midnite?), the carnival. Genuinely surprised Hugo Strange never showed up. Maybe we'll get to see the monster men in season 2. >_>

The cop drama is well done but I don't prefer it to the pulp stuff. Would prefer to see less of cops not named Gordon and more Bruce Wayne detective work. <_<

I dunno much about BG3; is it possible to just play a pure bard? Like, you're a dude just wandering around playing your tunes and trying to talk your way out of trouble; maybe the other party members end up being your bodyguards, but the bard is not a fighter in this idea.

Bard's spellcasting stat is Charisma, which overlaps heavily with a lot of speech and roleplay-related skills, so that's a very easy playstyle for them.

Harley Quinn is A) fantastic in this series and I'll be surprised if the next DC universal reboot doesn't skew her closer to this interpretation. (There's no reboot planned AFAIK, but we all know it's just a matter of time >_>)

B) a very interesting thought experiment in the context of superhero fiction with regard to what levels of violence are acceptable for a vigilante, and the threshold of societal harm that has to be reached before a vigilante is seen as justified.

Though, while Harley Quinn's story is extremely cathartic, I question the efficacy of forcing old men to dress as babies and hit people with hammers. >_>

I mean, to be absolutely fair, there definitely are occult/witchcraft communities who (think they can) cast spells and hexes on people. I'd be less than surprised if some witches were targeting politicians.
