I really don't think his students supposedly not seeing or otherwise being aware of The Matrix is actually the problem here, and I am curious as to exactly what "reference" it is he's trying to make. I feel like it's the reference, not the film, that is more vague than he realizes.

It almost certainly had a hand in spawning Youtube Shorts, which is also something that my YT experience would have been better off without (why would I want videos that I can't rewind without going all the way back to the beginning? why are we getting rid of functionality?)

Whats the point of torturing yourself to get these? Can you not beat the monster arena bosses without them? Penance?

You can make weapons that have similar (or even better) mods, but celestial weapons all have a hidden property of ignoring the target's defense, something no other weapons can inherently do and is helpful when trying to hit for 99,999 (which Break Damage Limit lets you do and is inherent on all celestial weapons as well).

Of course, if what you're using the character for doesn't involve using their weapon to physically attack, that hidden property may not actually be useful.

Blitzball is one of those things that starts out very rough (the storyline required match, that you luckily don't have to win, demonstrates this readily to most players) but gets easier and easier the more you do it, assuming you know how to work its XP system.

I don't remember all the fine details behind it, but I do remember that you want to pass the ball as much as possible. Even if it's to the point where you're not scoring and not winning the matches, every pass you do is XP for your fielders. Just hot potato the ball inbetween whoever doesn't have opponents immediately near them, potentially pausing only to lure opponents away from other fielders. Nap skills, if you have them, can help with keeping the opposition off of you. As long as the opponent isn't interfering with your pass, it will usually succeed, unless their PA is low and the pass is of particularly long distance. All the passing you're doing will get you XP (using pass skills if you have them, even if they aren't necessary, also gives more XP), and all the time spent by the opponent not being in control of the ball will mean they don't get as much XP. Gradually you will level past them and you'll gain an edge.

The goalie can't get in on this action unfortunately, so make sure to shuffle the positions around so that they don't lag behind.

Yep. They coded in the GS Ball event to occur after becoming champion (by going to the Goldenrod Pokemon Center), which ends up with a Celebi encounter. It's only for the eshop versions of Crystal specifically; Gold/Silver won't get it.

The Celebi is also not shiny locked, if you care about such things. You're going full original odds for it though, meaning 1:8192. I went for mine recently and got it; I didn't count my attempts but I don't think it took me much more than around a thousand, so I lucked out.

If you actually want to keep your shit after your playthrough is done (or get Celebi, if it's the eshop version), then Crystal. Otherwise, HGSS will probably be a better overall experience.

I mean really depending on the game even Strength and Endurance won't get the full scoop. Sure, Strength lets you hit harder in melee--does it also increase your carrying capacity? Does it increase damage for thrown weapons? For bow and arrow weapons? Does it increase your grip duration? Your climbing speed?

Does Endurance just increase your base defense? Your maximum HP? Your poison resistance? Your elemental resistance? The rate your food/water/sleep meters decrease? Your sprint duration?

Most games will tell you the main thing it does, or maybe a couple. Few will tell you all.

Not the full scope, sure, but it is not at all unreasonable to expect that Strength will affect your melee damage and Endurance to affect your HP/survivability (they may affect other things, but these are the most consistent things to expect), and in most cases you will be correct on at least those things.

No other stat that I've come across has that level of consistency.

Strength and Endurance (NOT Vitality) are pretty much the only consistent stats in terms of being able to expect what they usually do, in my experience. Every other statistic varies depending on the game/genre. For instance, in most games I've played with an Agility stat, it doesn't affect chance to be hit at all. It usually affects turn order, or dictates a resource allotment (AP in Fallout, etc)

Luck doesn't really deserve singling out here.

what does this have to do with anything lol

I'm trying to understand what the point of the topic statement is. The only context in which I could see anyone seriously trying to use it as some sort of argument against something would be a pro-abortionist trying to claim that we only celebrate birthdays specifically because life doesn't count/begin prior to that point.

The thing is, that actually has nothing to do with why we celebrate birthdays instead of conception days. We do that because we can easily tell when someone's birthday is, whereas loads of people have no idea exactly when they conceived their kid. Some people can (somehow) go for months without even realizing they're pregnant. Therefore, if that's the argument being made, it's kind of a bad one.
Topic$75,000 or free food for life?
Philip027

Food. Even if you usually eat cheaply enough to the point the $75k seems tempting, you can easily up your food game and go for fancier/healthier stuff that would normally be a lot more expensive, and that will easily add up to way more than $75k in just the span of a few years. Someone really going gung-ho on this offer would probably break $75k in savings even before one year.

It's still going to result in far easier day-to-day living, simply because you can take food out of your (personal) budget.
