Reached current expansion with enough hours of playtime = no more sprout.

If you don't finish everything up to Dawntrail, you'll get it back when that comes out.

I think it's normal for this to happen to anyone of any age.

I don't see how the frequency to which you use a certain parking lot necessarily helps with this. What would maybe help is if you consistently parked in the same stall, but I assume that's not necessarily something you get to pick.
TopicWhy do people think random encounters are bad when FF8 solved them yrs ago?
Philip027
04/05/24 11:08:56 AM

Beats me. I never had an issue with random encounters unless the encounter rate was especially egregious (mainly if there was no "safe" range; like if you could get into another battle by taking a single step after the previous battle)

I think the "symbol" encounters of modern games kind of cheapens the experience. For instance, in games like Dragon Quest, it eventually turns into "avoid everything that isn't a metal slime" after some point because there is little to no reason to fight anything else, which trivializes the leveling process.
TopicLara Croft beats out Mario to become the #1 most iconic video game character

Very questionable list. I do think Lara Croft should be in there, but definitely not first place, and definitely not beating out Mario.

Two characters from BG3 are in there, which has me thinking it's just a flavor-of-the-month popularity contest and that they don't actually know what "iconic" means, which is pretty much par for the course these days (pretty sure Jimquisition did at least one video on this very subject)

Is anyone really surprised? It's freakin google.

Even if it wasn't google, I would have assumed the only real point of private/"incog" browsing in general was not to hide from the browser what you were doing (obviously it can still see what you're doing; you're still using the same program) but more to try to hide what you were doing from other users on the same device.

So I take it you never use pronouns for anyone? Since you have a big heart and don't want to accidentally out them?

Why wouldn't I use them? I make an inferred guess based on their presentation, like most people would. It isn't the end of the world if I'm wrong.

Then most people can write them down no problem. I don't see very many people withholding their first name when prompted. Pronouns are no different.

They are different, though. I don't have any issue with identifying socially/publicly by my legal name. But I don't identify with any particular gender, which means I also don't identify with any particular pronoun.

If the fact that I don't care what I'm called and have nothing meaningful to put in a "pronoun" field on a name tag makes trans/LGBT people uncomfortable somehow, tough shit. I am not obligated to have a preferred pronoun, and nobody else is entitled to the information even if I did, either. They are going to need to find some other way to derive their "comfort" from that doesn't involve infringing upon my own.

No, and the idea of it being so is ridiculously entitled.

You do not get a right to know someone else's identity. For all you know, they may be in the closet out of necessity/safety.

People shouldn't be expected to know for sure, but let's face it, most of the time an educated guess can be made because most people are cis and gender-conforming.

I'm glad the relationship helped you, but the concern with those relationships is quite often the older person knows immediately that it won't work out because they are in different stages of life and is using the teen until they figure it out.

For us, the realization didn't really hit the both of us until we met in person (every relationship I've ever been in began online). The internet does a pretty good job of masking that sort of stuff, or at least making it easier to overlook.

Seconding the (flavored) sparkling/carbonated water idea. It will still have the same overall "kick" of soda, without being unhealthy for you.

If the carbonation or flavor is too strong, you can add in standard water (or ice) to your liking.

I never care about the date. Sometimes the milk is just fine for a week or two after the date; sometimes it starts "expiring" before the date. It's a crapshoot, so I don't rely on it.

I go by when it starts tasting off, not the date.

I don't go by the smell, either. Milk pretty much always smells weird to me, whether it's expired or not.

Agreed. As much as I dislike the 4Kids censorship, the voice acting in the original DM dub was fantastic. Then again, that "censorship" also gave us the Shadow Realm, which actually sounds much worse than dying and made the show feel more hardcore by complete accident.

The whole "Never Say Die" trope is always hilarious to me. DBZ had a lot of instances of this too.

I remember Vegeta destroying a building and then openly lamenting the fact that since it was Sunday no people were there working -- pulling triple duty of letting us know that "it's okay, nobody actually died", letting us know just how much of a bastard Vegeta is at this point that he's sad he didn't manage to kill anybody, and leaving us with absolute incredulity as to how this alien dude with clearly no regard for humanity is somehow aware of the concept of "weekends" and how some people don't work on those days.

A lot. If nobody prominent in the story feels relatable (most likely, it's because everyone in the story is an asshole in some way), I usually end up going down the Eight Deadly Words route.

Also for me this is all about behavior and demeanor; I couldn't care less about what they look like or what their ethnicity is or whatever.

Nobody needs to "ick" me over this; it was something that I recklessly started in a very tumultuous time for me, nothing untoward ever happened and we eventually realized we were in far too different stages of life for anything to pan out. What matters to me is that I wouldn't be alive today without them, and they will still always have a place in my heart. I don't have any regrets over it.
