A very fun experience. Tifa is probably the funnest character to control in FF history. The developers understood the important things that made the early part of the game special, and added valuable new stuff as well. That's what a remake should do.

I don't see how the best approach to hearing information like this is to assume it's not happening and do nothing in response. When Biden was up big in 2020 polls and people said that we shouldn't rest easy and should assume we're behind, that was the right approach. Now that numerous reputable polls are saying Biden is behind, why is the response disbelief and apathy, rather than that same response? It's even more necessary now.

The way things are being handled this time has me really worried that everyone is committing the exact errors Trump needs to win.

Yes, it would have to be a different society though. People seem to think abolitionists want the same society, minus cops and that they think that would be peachy keen. That's not it.

The typical argument is that we don't provide for people's needs, and have shrunken the public sphere/social services/social relationships of care in favor of "the economy" and private property so that we now need police to clean up the aftermath through force. The idea would be to take care of people's needs to the point where armed force is no longer necessary to keep things running.

As to whether this would work? I don't know. If it worked, it'd be way better than what we have now. But there's a huge gulf between here and there.

What's with the weird level of venom towards this girl for crying at a song? People have always been moved by music, good or bad, that isn't about them specifically. People charge music with their own emotions.

Organize your workplaces, your local communities, your friends, THEN vote. But voting alone is not the answer, people have been voting the whole time and we still got here. The other stuff hasn't been happening nearly as much as it needs to. Your voting options will be limited and ineffective if organizing hasn't happened to train and influence candidates. Any wins you gain can be rolled back without constant organizing. The courts can also kneecap anything you vote for unless there's a threat of boycotts and strikes.

So the answer is organizing.

I'm not sure how it would've been feasible to make one game with as much content as Remake, Rebirth, and the third game will have in any kind of timely manner. That almost assuredly would've turned into vaporware and would've become outdated in the course of making it. Doing it this way allows them to improve on each iteration, to make each one a full fledged game, and probably to finish the game without it taking 7 years.

I would be mad if we were paying $180/$210 for three incomplete games in terms of things to do. But each game is easily $60 worth of content.

I know you're posting in good faith here, so let me just ask you this one question.

What response could possibly be formulated to this issue that would actually do any good? IMO the best response is to fight back on all available fronts (i.e., Trump is damn near as old, much more addled, is a fascist shitbird, for starters), and also challenge people as to why they are so eager to do Republicans' work for them.

It's not like there is any viable (or even reasonable) way to replace Biden as a candidate, even if it were justified (it isn't).

The shit about Biden's age now is just like Hillary Clinton's emails, and the swift boating of John Kerry -- Republicans going all in on bad faith shit, and most of the rest of the country joining in.

If I knew what the response was, I'd be the king of the Democratic Party and we'd be on our way to a socialist utopia by next Tuesday. My instinct is that it's not focusing on how Trump is bad necessarily. Though his criminal nature should definitely not be ignored. I think we need more focus on the legitimately good things Biden has done and Biden needs to start making WILD promises for the next four years. I'm talking candy, rainbows, and ponies for everyone. Start using any executive authority he has to do anything beneficial between now and the election. Never begin or end a sentence without talking about how Trump is getting women killed through ending Roe v. Wade.

I think that's the way.

I don't even think you actually believe this. I think both you and EPR are understandably reacting with fear and hostility to the anticipated effect of that narrative sticking. But the reality is that millions of people genuinely believe that an 81 year old and Biden in particular are too old. I don't even think that would be controversial if Trump and all that's at stake wasn't involved. Understand that and grapple with that. Don't go around making unprovable and off-putting accusations of bad faith. This is nothing like that feral hogs nonsense.

"Biden is too old" is Republican ratfucking, because the only possible effect of pushing that message at this time is to help Trump win.

Of course I'm not interested in having conversations whose only possible effect is to hearten enemies and dismay allies.

I'd rather we acknowledge it, recognize it, and formulate a response that's not either "nuh uh" or "stop bullying the President" or "it's a conspiracy". I don't see the benefit of ignoring the major sustained criticism of a candidate as if that'll make it go away, especially when it hasn't over four years of a surprisingly successful presidency.

I think it's incredibly dangerous to not formulate a response and instead insist that a very common opinion across the political spectrum is actually a Republican plot. That's not effective politics. That's part of what got Hillary beat. I fear the same mistake is being repeated. We're not gonna brute force our way out of this.

This is simply untrue. It's been an obvious problem that inherently gets worse with time, and Democrats have never developed a response to it in four years. Even attempting to dismiss it this way comes across as sticking your head in the sand.

Doesn't mean Trump should be allowed to win and that he isn't in much worse shape mentally. But it's a real, enduring problem in many people's minds and it won't go away through accusations of conspiracy. Is it really that hard to believe that people might legitimately believe an 81-86 year old, a person who would be the oldest ever in the office, and who appears to struggle with speaking is too old?

People are living entirely different and separate lives and have little insight into how others live because our living areas, media consumption, work, etc is increasingly segregated and atomized. People are living entirely different, incompatible narratives, with each other cast as the villains. And some of these people are doing truly villainous things, but it's mostly for the benefit of the true villains. Capital. All of it is geared towards keeping them on top and keeping social movements that could disrupt them from forming due to a lack of solidarity.

There was an obvious glaring weakness with Biden and so many of you refused to acknowledge it because Trump is worse. That's not going to necessarily save Biden. If Trump wins, it's on the Democratic Party for rallying behind a ticking time bomb and the ONE candidate who couldn't one up Trump on age and coherence. This is like in 2016 picking the one person about as unpopular as Trump.

Yes, I got the Cannondale I linked earlier. You should definitely take whatever bike you get to a shop to have it assembled, unless you're very very familiar with bikes. Mine was fully assembled at the shop already.

Yeah, I considered getting that first one and the Lectric 3.0, but didn't due to the concerns about finding somewhere to get it fixed and support since I have almost no experience with bikes, much less ebikes. But Aventon, Ride1up, and Lectric seem to be the most reliable DTC ebikes and I was just super risk averse.

I second getting some kind of suspension, whether on the seat or the front fork.

I'd also check where you'd be getting your bike serviced and confirm that they'll work on the brand you get, including the motor. Many bike shops refuse to work on the direct to consumer/cheaper bikes, or at least their electrical components. This is why I went with a Cannondale with a popular motor brand. That said, this could just be reddit tier and bike shop marketing based advice as many many many people out there buy cheaper bikes and are happy with their experience.

Jesus Christ, these file sizes are getting out of hand. That's at least 140GBs of forced slow walking and anime moans/sighs.

I wish I could relive that two months or so when I learned about the Persona series and played 3 and 4 back to back. It was one of the coolest gaming experiences of my life, topped only by playing Final Fantasy 7 and 8 back to back as my first RPGs.

I actually don't like the law, sometimes boycotts will be justified and you'd wish they were possible. That said, fuck these guys. Not for boycotting but for their trash ideology and actions.
