That doesn't seem to be the case here because the two parties TC is talking about don't represent each side.

One represents the extreme right, one the 'moderate' right, and there are several viable parties that represent the left.

This is the equivalent of saying you hate so-called moderate Republicans, who always end up supporting Trump anyway, more than you do mask-off MAGA. It's not saying that the left is as bad as the right.
This. They used to be on opposite sides but the Liberals abandoned all their principles in 2022. Its like Manchin and Sinema but worse.

Sweden is governed by the so called Tidavtalet since October 2022 (The Tid Agreement) which is named after Tid castle which is where the Liberals, Nationalists, Conservatives and Christian Democrats formed their coalition.

The Socialdemocrats, Green Party, Neoliberals and Far-Left are in opposition.

That's the key difference. You aren't forced to support one party because the other is so fucking awful.

You have a viable alternative to both the extreme right, and those who vote with them.
Which Im very grateful for. The frustration in this case is that the Liberals could have chosen to make it 189 MPs for a broad Center-Left coalition vs 160 for a Right-wing alliance but they willingly made the decision to fuck over so many and give the Right a small majority. One of the first things our current government did was close the Department of Environmental Issues.

This is Swedish politics, I think. So the labels and party dynamics might be different from what we expect.

But it isn't uncommon to be more upset by a friend who let's you down, than an enemy who does what you expected. It doesn't mean they're the same. It just means that betrayal is sometimes hard to take.
The Liberals used to be fairly similar to big parts of the US Democrats but since 2022 they have become a doormat for the Nationalists despite literally having the power to stop those policies. The Right-wing government have the support of 176 MPs while the opposition have 173. 16 of those 176 are Liberals.

And that is exactly it. Being stabbed in the back and let down hurts more than someone you already disliked doing what they said theyd do.

The Liberals broke off from a functioning collaboration with the Socialdemocrats to go hang with the Nationalists. They can go fuck themselves. At least karma seems to be an actual thing since the Liberals are now polling way below the 4% threshold and will probably lose all their seats in the next election which is in September 2026.

A Zionist organisation had invited an IDF-soldier to speak at an event here in Stockholm. A Jewish organisation protested outside the venue because of this since they hate that Israel is conducting a genocide and trying to use their religion as an excuse to justify the ill deeds.

The Conservative group leader in Riksdagen (dunno the English term for this position but the group leader is responsible for making sure that the MPs of a party follow the party leaders wishes etc. Kinda like a Whip) posted on X that these protestors are odjur which is a quite heavy insult similar to wild beasts as well as anti-semites. Our Minister of Foreign Affairs retweeted this tweet.

They were not aware that the protestors are Jewish when tweeting however so now it has blown up in their faces in a glorious way.

On the one hand, the years where Israel have done well (like with Dana International or Netta) have been the years where their acts have stood up to prejudice and the stereotypes of their nation, and I will never be opposed to the power of music, or of Eurovision as a whole, to say "fuck what people think I should be, I love myself and I love you all." The whole point of the show each year is about coming together and about love, and about embracing the our differences and turning them into commonalities for one night.

But on the other hand, fuck anyone who isn't prepared to enter into the show with the spirit of love, and I am fully on board with any protests/boycotts that are going on, because any attempt to subvert Eurovision into anything other than a night that brings us all together absolutely goes against the spirit of the whole thing, and anyone who embraces that can go to hell
Very beautifully and so spot on. Israel is trying to use Eurovision as a way to paint a picture of support for their genocide and therefore they must go.

It is about the Eurovision Song Contest which is one of the oldest TV-shows in the world and the very first international music competition. It has aired every year since 1956 except for 2020, but the decision to cancel the show because of the pandemic came just two months before it was gonna take place so all countries had selected their entries.

Each country sends an original song which cant be longer than 3 minutes and you cant have more than 6 people on stage.

Famous winners include ABBA, Celine Dion and Mneskin. They all rose to international fame after winning.

The Conservatives would possibly not have lost this many seats to the Far-Right if it wasnt for their leader, Erna Solberg, refusing to retire. Erna has been party leader since 2004(!) and she was PM 2013-2021. The Right-wing parties got decimated in 2021 yet she stayed on. The electorate had already rejected her once after 8 years in office and didnt seem keen to vote her in for a third term this time either.
