The only study they'll trust is the one that says mRNA vaccines are unsafe. They're tired of waiting, so they'll make one themselves.

I can understand the reasoning. They want to win over moderates and independents and the only thing those seem to care about is "the economy." They don't care if their voters think they look weak at the moment because right now all they can do is lay low and attempt to sway the swing states back into their favor.

It's a bit odd that they don't want to get too much into specifics about why cost of living is about to get worse. Maybe they think adding more detail will confuse moderates who clearly can't see the forest for the trees considering they voted for Trump. Trying to explain to them that tariffs caused it might make them follow up with dumb questions like "Didn't Democrats use tariffs?" so it's better just to reinforce that Republicans = high prices.

I'm guessing the goal here is to use tax dollars to buy shares and then transfer those shares to individual portfolios. Because who's going to stop them at this point.

It's only "sad" in that's he's past his prime and has pent up angst in his marriage. He's still rich and it's not like he's turned into a complete asshole, like Ye. His son also started a restaurant that feeds the homeless for free so he or Jada or someone is teaching his kids something right.

It's a physical card that stores a digital license key. The functional difference between them and modern PlayStation/Xbox discs, which require installations onto storage anyway and use the disc as a license key, are that they contain no actual game data.

They exist as a compromise for publishers who don't want to spend the comparatively high costs to release a game on card or who will release a game that's larger than 64 GBs to begin with. They also allow the consumer to resell the game instead of tying the digital license permanently to an account.

Naturally one of the bigger concerns is what will happen in the event the download servers are shut down. It's not an insignificant concern, although it's ironic to see fears that games will be unavailable 20 years from now without acknowledgement that you can still download Wii VC/Wiiware purchases 18 years later.

If GKCs don't sell and a game publisher doesn't opt for game on card, either because of the costs associated and they want to sell at a sub $70 or the game requires a download anyway (as many modern games do), then they'll say forget making any kind of card and push digital only releases.

I have no idea why anyone would even want a game-key card. It is the worst of both worlds - if you're going to download the product anyways, just buy digital. The only people I can see this appealing to are people who don't want their credit card data online, and that is a vanishingly small demographic in the modern era.

You can lend/sell them when you're done with them. That's one of the things gamers wanted real bad with digital games and is a distinct advantage over code in box.

They think they'll be immune to the adverse effects of a dictatorship when it's "their guy" in charge.

Rejecting GKCs means all games with a physical SKU cost minimum $70 and hastens an all digital future. Gamers are truly masters of the self-own.

The games he's involved in are considered highly influential. If nothing else they're very unique and stand out amongst a crowded market.

It's also an osmosis kind of cultural thing. There's plenty of highly influential creators that have fallen into obscurity. It also helps that he's Japanese and nerds love all things Japanese.

Getting enough people to agree to strike means putting their livelihoods in jeopardy. Playing devil's advocate again but assuming a company did decide to eat the cost, which kind of negates the entire point of tariffs being something that's meant to be felt, how long are they expected to do that and how are they to know those tariffs won't suddenly increase again and again? It's not as if Trump hasn't tossed out percentages at complete random day to day.

To play devil's advocate it depends a lot on how much the manufacturing and logistics costs change. I can tell you right now SSDs have annoyingly gone up in price and I can't imagine Sony and others gets that big a discount. The costs and future expenses also have to decrease significantly, probably more than half, before a price cut can be considered.

I haven't really been keeping up though. Maybe PS5 production costs have gone down ten fold and they're still doing this. It wouldn't surprise me.

Yeeeaahh, with Intel imploding AMD is going to get more bold with their CPU pricing. GPUs are already ridiculous, SSDs are holding, cases are bizarrely going up. It's pathetic that the best GPU value is a used 3060/6700XT for $230 all these years later. About the only thing still reasonable are PSUs, somehow.

Democrats don't actually have to do anything. The same swing state voters who thought Republicans would lower grocery prices and rent will automatically flip to Democrats when they notice things haven't gotten any better. Bet on it.

For a laugh I tried 11 on a Chromebook with 4 GBs of RAM, a max res of 1366x768, and a Celeron 2955U. This thing struggled to run Mint so I was shocked when 11 ran perfectly "okay." Point is the hardware requirement isn't about performance but security.

Performatively, for the grandparents. Didn't much care for it outside of the stained glass and Easter potlucks. Only time I choose to go is if there's a free organ or bells concert.

You can read the Bible / pray at home or basically anywhere at any time. Why do you need someone to explain the Bible to you when you can just read it yourself? If you still just really want some pastor guy to explain it to you, why not just watch him on TV?

It's a set meeting place every week for group activities. Back in the day it was a cornerstone of local culture and even today it's still meaningful for some to have a connection with a community. The networking opportunities can also still be very impactful on personal and career advancement.

With the loneliness epidemic I totally understand why the decline in church attendance has slowed. It's indoctrination but something as basic as singing along with others probably has a measurably positive effect on mental well-being. Others benefit when receiving guidance they're otherwise struggling with, which unfortunately can lead to zealotry.

The shift is nowhere near the level of 3.1 to 95 or 2000 to XP or XP to Vista. It takes just as long if not longer to get Linux to behave at all, so pick your poison. Things people rake Windows over the coal over such as dropping support for older software/features and hardware, making old software/hardware incompatible, long standing bugs that go unfixed, forced migration to new features and standards before anything is ready, slow adoption of matured new standards and features, and updates that break your system are all present in Linux world as well as Mac/iOS/Android world.
I'm not a Windows fanboy or anything it's just that historically the alternatives were always much worse. It wasn't until very recently did I use a distro that made me feel like it wasn't giving me shit at every corner. That being said, the microsecond Microsoft requires an ID to use Windows I'm out and there's no going back.

I'm looking to likely switch to Linux. According to ProtonDB, every game I play is supported with minimal to no tweaking needed to make it work.

FWIW ProtonDB isn't 100% reliable. People rate games as gold or higher when there are glaring issues and there are so many forks of proton that are updated so frequently that things go from broken, to working, to broken again on a whim. For the most part however, it's at a point where things "just werk" without much fuss on the experimental branch.

Basically it's catching up to what Nvidia already has.

It takes ~30 minutes to debloat/config Win 11 to being nearly the same as 10 using a combination of the built-in control panel (uninstall/disable/hide unwanted features) and one registry edit (for the context menu).

If you don't want to deal with it on principle you can do an equal amount of work to pirate/configure LTSC or go with Linux. I recommend MX Linux for the basics and CachyOS for gaming as they are the only two distros I've used that actually work.

I really don't think you understand the people we're talking about here. They are not going to edit a registry just to upgrade their os. They likely don't even know how to open the registry editor without someone else doing it for them.

That kind of person is going to be in danger regardless of security exploits by nature of willingly inviting something or somebody into their computer.

Having helped others shuffle around arcade machines which only occasionally see use you couldn't pay me to have more than one. All I need are my digital pinball machine and MAME cabinet.

With that said, I wouldn't mind one or two Bemani/Sega rhythm game machines.

If you're okay with med/high 1080p/60 settings 7th gen gaming and min/low 720p/30 settings 8th gaming there are plenty of used Latitudes, Pro/Elitebooks, and Thinkpads recycled from offices on eBay for around $200. Despite their use case modern ones have decent enough specs for gaming, so long as they have at minimum a 4 core CPU, 16 GBs of RAM, and either an Iris Xe or Vega 7/8 igpu. 10/11th gen Intel run kinda hot and the 12th/13th models ending in P are trash. Ryzen 4000 is fine, but the 5400/5600/5800 series have not insignificant single core performance gains. The one common issue is the screens are usually 250 nit 45% NTSC which look fine until you see a 400 nit 100% sRGB. The other caveat is that the battery life on average will be around 80% of it's total capacity.

Anecdotally I picked up a used Thinkpad with a 5800u and I'm pleased with it's performance. It can handle Doom 2016 at low/med 720p around 60ish fps with lots of dips which is still way better than I expected. I also tried an Elitebook that had a solid feeling aluminum body and pretty good upward facing speakers, something I have no idea why is so uncommon. Screen was noticably grainy though so I passed on it.

If you're looking for something with a dgpu you're going to pay a premium. Personally I don't see the point unless you are serious on using it as a desktop replacement.

If you're interested in longevity, Framework laptops are specifically designed for easy DIY replacement and upgrading of parts but I have no 1st hand experience with them.

Keep an eye on the price of oil, that's usually the best indicator of impending conflicts.
