In practice, "millennial" doesn't have a particularly solid chronological definition. It's broadly used for pretty much anyone for whom the widespread use of the internet was a formative influence, but that mostly grew up before social media in the modern sense took off (particularly influencing being a viable career option).

In practice it is mostly an insult aimed at those with a certain work mindset (and avocado obsession), right?

I do not have the legal background required to determine sentence lengths. I have trust in the system to work most of the time and that when it did not, the other systems in place can correct for that.

Bonny... First things are made to obvious with the fire bucket (the dust indicates she did not prepare it, basically spelling out she knew before hand the trick was not going to happen) and she gets the shady character theme that is a version/remix of one of the two worst themes from last game...

Also, a random observation that has been bothering me. They either were very lazy with the art, or the Reus in the show, is not the Reus in the poster. The Valant sprite/art for it shows it is a really old picture, but Reus looks exactly the same age then and now. There were also obvious shadows in the recording of the accident.

Guess I am just seeing things again, that the game will point out later while expecting the player to not have noticed it. Like all the "reveals" in the Academy Trial...

Edit: Just noticed Retinz has the same haircut as Reus and looks the right age, so really hoping that is not the big "reveal" of the case...

It's mostly the progression style: Non-linear exploration, with unlocks that open up new areas and let you find new stuff by backtracking. Any other elements don't stop something from being a metroidvania, but they aren't necessary.

Saying that, though, genre labels are often a bit of a crapshoot. You're better off looking at actual gameplay videos and other information about how the game plays than just trusting that you'll like a game because it's a metroidvania.

Exactly. The progression style I just call Metroid-like. When you tell me something is a Metroidvania, I expect that with some sort of RPG elements. Which is why I liked say Hollow Knight, but not as much as I might have if I had not been told it was a Metroidvania.

The question is whether Metroidvania is just the Metroid-style progression, or also has to have other elements SotN introduced to distinguish it from Super Metroid.

I meant the meaning of the term, not the difficulty of the games.

Metroidvania itself is already confusing enough.

Usually when something with a small but dedicated fanbase goes fully mainstream, it does tend to change, in ways that might not be liked by those original fans.

Look at say Code Geass, season 1 is definitely mostly its own rather unique thing, but season 2 was altered in such a way compared to S1 as to appeal the more mainstream mecha audience.

So the situation is just made more dangerous, for no apparent reason, by stopping the bus on the opposite side of the road compared to where the kids need to go?

Transit buses maybe, but not school buses. School buses, at least in the US, have a literal stop sign that opens up when they are dropping off kids to stop traffic in both directions.

Why? You would just drop the kids of in a safe spot right? On the sidewalk and not in the middle of the road where other drivers can hit them?

dang the level design in KH1 is annoying... I did like 20 laps around the jungle and the event trigger was entering and exiting the TENT twice

SPOILERS: The next event trigger was to leave the screen and then come back to the tent.... so that's 3 times you have to do that, in a row.

Yeah, KH1 was a great proof of concept, but also the standout most different game from the rest of the series.

KH1 is a platformer with some Action RPG elements, but terrible platforming.
The rest of the series goes all in on being Action RPGs, greatly improves the platforming capabilities, but mostly moved away from actually being a platformer.

That's normal? Busses usually have their own lanes or small parking havens at the bus stop, which allows other drivers to move past while the bus is letting passengers on and of. Just do not pass the bus when it indicates it is going back on the road.

Continuity? His voice is his voice. So many dubs get Goku wrong as a character and the voice usually reflects that.

I would guess it is "on" for the actual physical landmass, but "in" for the cultural concept?
