The last revival sucked because the moron producers spent too much airtime trying to get the audience to care about the personal lives of the competitors. Hopefully Amazon learned the lesson that audiences don't give a shit about the backstories of contestants that appear in one episode.

It'd be akin to if Jeopardy spent four or five minutes giving us bios on every contestant every episode.

Basically, you just want Luke to stay cool and awesome forever. The problem, which we saw in the EU, is that it's boring. He becomes this walking deus ex machina that can just solve anything. Sure, it feels good to see Luke be a powerful, heroic space wizard but if he's always like that then there's no way to have interesting conflict or any real character arc.

I'll take the way he was portrayed in TLJ over wish fulfillment Luke any day.

Sounds like bad writers with no vision needing an easy out.

Why is this a trend now? See for example the latest Indiana Jones film. Btw I didn't dislike the film but most of the film Indiana was just a crochet old man ready to pass on and rid the world of his old man stink.
Like why do this? For Ford I get it is a cash grab but whatever happened to the Chris Pratt reboot? Indiana is supposed to be about andventure and discovery. Sure Ford was always Crochety in his own way but not actually Indiana.

But as I said movie wasn't bad so mainly just this seems to be a trend. Take some character that was beloved during the 80s or 90s and age them up(or same actor) and just have them crochet and done with the world. Do people enjoy this type of story or is it forced?
