This is a topic that deserves some light given the circumstances. Not everything about CE was toxic.

I voted yes GameFaqs needs to get back to talking about gaming and nerd culture. Get rid of the toxicity and weird internet culture stuff.

Back in 2010 nobody cared who voted for who, we bonded over a common interest of whatever game we were playing at the time.

I would recommend you start doing a slight conference tour of the various gaming conventions around the country. GDC just ended, but you still have PAX, South by Southwest, Summer Games Fest and others.

You would be a good panelist for the various talks that go on here, and it will open up job opportunities for you. It is great networking.

He was a Board 212 regular. This was my eulogy to him years ago

Flamazide is an old school user of Board 212, he's been around since the early TUF days.

His Board 212 claim to fame was betting 10 thousand (his entire life's savings) and Nate Diaz to defeat Conor McGregor, after Nate stepped in for RDA on less than 3 weeks notice. This board called him mad, but because he was able to catch Nate at +450 he made $45,000 to collect a grand total of $55,000 from the pay window.

Flamazide was also an avid boxer with an extensive amatuer record, and at one point had aspirations of making the 2008 Olympic Team. He stopped boxing sometime around the Rio Olympics.

Flamazide was a very helpful user, and was known for giving his old games away once he was done using them. This is how he became known on CE, as he would simply mail all of his X-Box games to other users once he was done with them. Flamazide was an active member of the CoD community as well as CE, especially its Discord channel - but Board 212 was always his home.

Like many users who have been long-time staples of this community but then suddenly fell off the map (Whemer, Dart, BendoHendo, Kadd, etc) I just assumed that he evolved past the need for GameFaqs as so many do, and was enjoying his life with his Diaz winnings.

Sadly this was not the case, and Flamazide passed away on October 18th, 2019 from persisting heath problems. His final GameFaqs login was the day before.

Not a CEmen, but J_Koch of Board 208 passed away in 2018, I actually helped pay for his funeral.

It is a weird feeling when someone youve known for decades but never met in person happens to pass away.

Its hard to explain really.

I'm not saying this to put you down, but have some respect for yourself. Because anyone date/potential partner ignoring you, ghosting you, then popping back up in your life days/weeks later without even apologizing and acknowledging it happened, doesnt respect you. Man or woman, if the person you just started talking to just stops responding for several days, they need to at least acknowledge they ignored you for days.

That would be nice, but thats not how modern dating works.

Ghosting is just a part of it its actually the recommended (by mainstream magazines and their relationship therapists) technique to severing ties with someone you arent interested in.

So, thats just how dating works these days. There is no point complaining or fighting it. Just accept thats how it is, adapt, and move on.

You guys are seriously disappointing me. @STEROLIZER thought that like half of y'all fit into the permanently single group and I thought it was better than that. And it is better, but I thought it would be about 30% and it is currently higher than that. Seems in between what we each thought.

To be fair this poll is vague or equivalent could mean a lot of things. Where do the folks that are single but not are not forever alone, but also simply not looking to date right now fit into?

What about folks with online relationships? GameFaqs did a poll not too long ago and a bunch of users were dating folks they met online through gaming.

Was this place always so introverted?

I'm 27 and never had a GF. It's hard... can't lie. But i'm slowly giving up tbh.

But that doesn't mean that I'm not going to take care of myself. I have tons of hobbies, go the gym several days a week, very social, etc. I'm actually happy being single for a long time. But I would like to have someone to spend time with.

I hate to be a downer here.. but the "go to the gym bro! be more social! take care of yourself! use dating apps!" doesn't really guarantee you a GF nowadays... sure, it can give you more chances, but it's not a 100% guarantee (duh). This is what I've learned and it hit me like a train. Been taking care of myself since my early 20's. Still no GF.. lmao.

Doesn't help that others around me are less social, no social hangouts like bars/clubbing (even tho I don't drink), etc. Only place I can meet someone is.. my gym.. hahahah.

• Learn to drink.
• Get a nice place.
• Decorate for guests not yourself.
• Get a nice car.
• Get a second social circle keep it separate from your first one
• Pick up a cool hobby like jiujitsu or surfing.
• Maintain your social media like you would a resume.
• Dont be so damn nice being nice is not synonymous with being a walkover.
• Move to a larger city if you have too.

Also having some career aspirations wouldnt hurtif your just working a normal job, hide it for as long as possible, and make sure you actually are working towards a greater plan, so the job appears (and eventually ends up being) temporary.

That is correct. You would need to make a conscious effort to fix those things but if it just ends up making you more miserable then whats the point.

That is the paradox everyone needs to figure out. What makes me more miserable being lonely, or completely changing my lifestyle for the rest of my life so that can attract someone else and put an end to said loneliness?

You cant have both. So its a choice that needs to be made.

Of course there are. Thats why its up to the CeMen to put themselves into a position where one of those women would want to date them.

That means changing up their lifestyles and becoming more social easier said than done for many of the folk here.

Deny. Seeing happy couples out and about together is wholesome. Just remember to focus on what you do have that makes you happy, rather than what you don't have.

That is not good advice.

If you just concentrate on what makes you happy then you end up stuck inside playing video games all daywhich is why so many users are in this predicament in the first place.

The correct advice is to concentrate on what you feel would provide you with long lasting happiness, then develop a plan to get it.

That could be a better career, a girlfriend, a family, home ownership, or simply finding a way to legit be able to just play video games all day without any of the other negative emotional baggage that comes with doing that.

Everything is possible with a realistic plan, but just distracting you from your depression is not a realistic long term plan.

Well. The thing is to not be lonely and to find someone to spend your time with you need to make an effort to do extroverted activities.

Those are probably things you dont want to do. So you gotta decide what makes you more miserablebeing by yourself, or completely changing your lifestyle?

you be surprised. You might legit just rather stay lonely. The act of even getting or maintaining a girlfriend might end up making you even more miserable.

But that is a choice you need to make.

What would one categorize the need to be in a relationship and spending quality time with said significant other?

You need to leave the house to meet people. So the chances of finding a same age, anti-social, awkward virgin is a pipe dream because youd need to both still conquer those things to go outside and even meet each other in the first place.

Which means by the times you meet eachother you wont be so antisocial and awkward anymore.

Gosh that's true. Like there are tons of legitimate reason's to dislike me. But I feel defaulting to "he's a trump supporter" is the default when CE doesn't like someone...and considering I'm clearly not, it often tosses "glitch" into their matrix and they don't know how to proceed.

As for the matter at hand. If someone is remembering something I did two years ago, I'm going to apologize for it, it obviously left a scar. But like, there is just no way for me to actually remember it so...I'm just apologizing as a gesture.

I barely go on that discord. When I do its just to yell at all those weird Reddit people to stop being so terrible

they keep on trying to adopt me like Im some type of house cat. No matter how many times I tell them that I support all that woke stuff that they hate.

It's like they just ignore it. Theyre so desperate for some form of leadership that they keep on placing on a pedestal because once upon a time I made a subreddit to complain about a moderation that overtime they managed to twist into their own personal hate group.
