Yeah, the plot is generic, but the storytelling and setting is so interesting and what everyone remembers from the game. Flying pirate ships in a world of floating islands was a really cool setting! The exploration with discoveries to find throughout the overworld was great!

In a remake, they should junk the entire battle system and start over. Replace random encounters with Tales Of-style enemies on the map that can mostly be avoided.

Pearl Jam has no trash albums. Their 2 most recent ones are their worst to date and are mediocre at worst. Even their B-sides double album is a classic.

You can already tell from the trailer that the story isnt going to be all that great. Amateur writing and mediocre voice acting. Classic JRPG.

After each chapter, the game had to uninstall the old chapter and then install the new one. At least they had the bizarre fake tv shows to watch during this process.

I know theres story changes. Im mainly wondering if the 2 games are different enough that it wouldnt feel like Im just playing a worse, outdated version of the same game. Turn based vs. hack n slash probably makes a big difference, gameplay-wise

Should I play FF7 on Switch before starting the remake trilogy? Im thinking it may make me appreciate the remake more, but on the other hand the remake may be more enjoyable if the plot is completely new to me.

I havent played Scholar of the First Sin, just the PS3 version with the DLCs and Aldia. Im aware of some of the changes, but how do they affect the game? Ive heard that enemy numbers were generally reduced, except for bizarrely the area before Smelter Demon which was room that needed an enemy reduction the most.

I know Heidis Tower has passive knights that leave you alone unless you provoke them, and an extra dragon. Not sure I like the change to make Dragon Aerie skippable and to drastically reduce the number of enemies in the Dragon Shrine. Battling up the Shrine stairs was a great challenge, especially since theres no boss at the end. Ive read theres a ton more petrified statues; not sure if that limits what paths are available to you more than the original game.

Congratulate him for being right, then discuss which is our favorite areas and bosses. Old Ivory King for me.
