| Topic | I wish orange juice was as cheap as milk |
| wolfy42 07/16/17 11:33:41 AM #7 | You gotta go to Trader Joes. You can get organic non-pasturized OJ other places (even safeway finally carries it), but it's over $10 a quart. TJ's has 2 quarts of it for $5 (I just bought 2 of them yesterday), just stay away from the organic lemon aid, it's horrid (I forgot how bad and bought some of that as well). I used to squeeze my own, and that still tastes the best, but it's messy, takes awhile and is actually more expensive. To make 1 of TJ's things of OJ would probably take about 40 oranges, which even if you can find one of those mexican fruit stands that sell the small oranges for 3 pounds for a buck, would still freaking cost more then $5, require you to spend forever juicing and create a huge mess. TJ's all the way. --- Proud member of the Arv The Great is great fan club!!! Join today by putting it in your sig. |

I'd do a few live shows, a few "specials" on TV etc, to get my name well known, start investing the money big time, and networking with celebs, getting charities going etc, and before you know it I wouldn't even need my powers anymore to make a big difference. --- Proud member of the Arv The Great is great fan club!!! | Topic | I played a good 8 hours of 7days to die with my new friends last night:) |
| wolfy42 07/14/17 6:23:58 PM #1 | So glad to have gaming friends again. We just started playing 7 days to die (it's on sale at humble bundle for $10 btw), and made it through the first 7th night. Still just figuring the game out, so...that is probably an accomplishment (although I think we thinned out the hoards during the day so there was less at night). We totally cheated though, we had spikes all around our house, and destroyed the stairs going up to the second floor, so we had a safe place to run to if needed. Then we just kept doing short runs down and destroying the zombie horde hehe. It was like 2:30 am, and I think day 9, when we finally called it quits (We were all pretty exhausted). Have not had so much fun playing a game in a long time, and it was due to playing with friends and not solo (which I have done mostly in the past 10 years). So, if your getting bored with games, try playing with others, it may make it more fun again. --- Proud member of the Arv The Great is great fan club!!! Join today by putting it in your sig. |

If it gets released on PC AND it has some kinda 50% off sale, or is sold for $20 or less, I'll pay for it just so I have the option to play it on my PC. That would be the only reason though, and honestly I just have too many rpgs that I have rebought for my pc and never played already. I can't ever play even all the good games I already own and have not started yet, let alone the mediocre games. I can and have eaten hawaiin pizza before, but do not like the taste, it ruins the pizza in my opinion, and detracts from the most important toppings (cheese and sauce). Why not on the batteries? Say each battery can run a robot for 4 hours, and they have a dual battery pack (so carry 2), they need to swap out the 2 batteries at any station every 8 hours. Stations are everywhere (kinda like taco bell and mc d's combined), so there are never any lines, you just run through quickly and bam, your set for another 8 hours. Even more, since it's so fast to run through, you can do so while traveling etc, when even 1 runs out, so you have a full 8 hours any time you are traveling pretty much. Meanwhile anywhere your stationary would have the wireless charging, or direct cords to charge or run off (so the bot doesn't use his battery charge at all). Yeah, if they are in combat mode, it would be different, but combat mode robots could have bigger batteries (and probably powerful weapons), run vehicles that could keep them charged etc. It really wouldn't be a problem. --- Proud member of the Arv The Great is great fan club!!! That socialism worked, that America's public schools were worth a damn instead of just providing unionized teachers with a cushy low-effort job, that Michael Moore was legit instead of a fat fraud, etc. You thought Michael Moore was legit? Bog. Still think socialism could work in moderation (not complete socialism mind you). And you can't blame the teachers (not all of them), there are some that take advantage of the system and do the bare minimum, but many work way more hours then required and really try and make a good learning environment. Sadly the current system makes it VERY hard for them to do so. I knew one teacher who spent over 12 hours a day, trying to make the best learning environment she could, and had been doing that for decades. She still had past students who where graduating from HS come and visit her all those years later. She really cared and was a great teacher. It's hard to maintain that when your shoved into a classroom with 40+ kids, including at least 2-3 special needs students, with no teachers aid, no parents volunteering, no budget for suplies, and a fixed curriculum you are expected to teach leaving almost no time for your own lesson plans etc. I taught for 3 years in the public school system, going in thinking I could make a difference and help students who did not have a teacher that cared. After 3 years I threw my hands up and decided I should just teach at a private school, where I could actually make a difference and would at least have another adult to help with classroom management. With more years teaching, I may have become more like the teacher I mentioned above, but honestly it's such a high stress job, and you have to spend so many hours to really improve anything, I just don't have the energy for that anymore, maybe in my 30's or early 40's i could have, but yeah, it's a job for the young (and good luck even to them). So yeah, it's not just the teachers fault at all. --- Proud member of the Arv The Great is great fan club!!! Join today by putting it in your sig. |

| wolfy42 07/14/17 2:40:15 PM #4 | If it hasn't happened yet, it will soon. Dont' even need self awareness to be the cause. What is the greatest threat/danger to humanity right now? Humanity itself. Create a program meant to protect humanity and give it access to the internet (in order to look for potential threats, or solutions to problems). It wouldn't take long before such a program would realize that all the threats are coming from humans and specifically from technology they are using. Logic would dictate that removing those threats is the best way to ensure humanities survival, so the program could start working towards taking over/using all technology to police mankind and ensure their survival and safety. There are plenty of defensive programs out there already, it just takes one that comes to this logical conclusion and we are all ruled by our supreme robot overlords. --- Proud member of the Arv The Great is great fan club!!! | wolfy42 07/13/17 8:30:12 PM #20 | Things like Mytown2go let you order from any of them and never even SEE a human being. You can order with your credit card and state you want the food left at your door, and you would never see a human being. Heck you could probably leave your door open and request they place it on your dinning room table and they would lol. Only costs $5 for delivery too, and most fast food places have no minimum. So for instance you can get 2 double burgers from Mc'D's for $5, add the 5$ delivery fee and a 2$ tip and have that all delivered to your door for $12. Kinda sad to do that mind you, but you could. Or you can get some SERIOUSLY delicious Sessions Teryiaki (Best chineese in the area by far) delivered from freaking 40 minutes away, for 8$ delivery fee. I would VERY rarely drive all that way for the food, but getting it delivered for about $13 with tip? That is freaking priceless baby....priceless. Taco bell isn't one of the places that delivers yet sadly (nor Arby's..which is a good thing or i'd get it alot). Chipotle does, olive garden, Panda Express, Mc D's etc etc. They are popping up all over (not all the same name), you might have one that delivers taco bell and the others you want in your area already. --- Proud member of the Arv The Great is great fan club!!! | wolfy42 07/13/17 7:48:01 PM #14 | Even just people who owe large amounts of money for medical bills etc and have had wages garnished etc. My past roomate (one that just moved out) had her wages garnished due to medical bills she didn't pay, I don't think they can take the money right out of your bank (think it comes out of your wages directly), but they can track the money you make by what goes in your bank. If you get paid under the table and don't deposit anything into the bank, then it can't be tracked, so some people may not use banks because of that. --- Proud member of the Arv The Great is great fan club!!! | Topic | So, I have a dilemma , possible room mates, but.....complications. |
| wolfy42 07/13/17 7:42:26 PM #17 | Lol, no, I'm no tin love with either of them, and still just getting to know them really. I just think they would be awesome roomates. The girl that moved in just moved out last weekend (Still has stuff downstairs that she needs to move to her new place). She didn't work out. She was just too messy, needed to borrow money constantly etc. We are still friends and she still comes over to chat etc, just won't be living here anymore. Kinda on the fence about having anyone else live here, and won't, unless it's someone I like/think we would have fun living near each other etc. It's more like choosing your downstairs neighbor, then actually a roomate, as it's like a whole different apartment downstairs. I literally didn't see my last roomate all week a few times as she stayed out late to drink often. There is no reason why we would ever have to interact, if we didn't want to, but, if we did, there is a large living room upstairs with a huge entertainment center where we could get together whenever we wanted to play video games etc. The dining room where we play DnD every other sunday is upstairs as well (and like last night we are currently just playing a side quest with just the 3 of us once a week as well). So we are already getting together at least 1 1/2 times a week (3 times every 2 weeks), and when we do, it's usually for 6+ hours. Yeah, living with someone certainly changes things, but again, this is more like choosing who you live above, not who you live in the same apartment with. We would never share a bathroom, wouldn't even need to share the kitchen (or fridge), we would have to share the laundry room, but people in apartments do that all the time. Meanwhile they have a freakton of video games as well (and even have the switch which I don't have yet and was thinking of getting eventually), they love/have the same kind of books as me (so we like have endless hours of dicsussions about various series/characters etc), like the same tv shows/movies as me (so we could probably watch quite a few together if we wanted in the upstairs living room and we are looking forward to playing an MMO together eventually. So yeah, they would make a pretty perfect couple to have live downstairs (or upstairs if I decided to move downstairs (it's cooler down there, and you can hear the rain better from the bedroom, but the kitchen is better upstairs and I like to cook). Still not 100% sure though that I even want to have anyone move in (even if they are a perfect fit), and more importantly even if they did want to, it's a risk to give up something like what they have (free or reduced rent) to move somewhere else. It would probably be more expensive for them here even just paying for utilities etc, if they are not paying rent, since it's so much larger (and many apartments have deals on utilities/cable etc). The wife's only job is managing the apartment, and the husband is a manager at gamestop, but seriously, that can't pay that much, so I don't think they are rolling in money. --- Proud member of the Arv The Great is great fan club!!! | wolfy42 07/13/17 2:34:37 PM #12 | Just pay people to do all the work. I prefer crab to lobster, but lobster is much cheaper then good crab. Some shrimp (argentenian) tastes just as good as lobster, with less worth, and FAR less price. You can get the shrimp for as little as $8 a pound sometimes, it's fast to take the tails off, and you can cook it in sauce etc easier (and super fast). So yeah, lobster can be good, but it's expensive (not as much as good crab, but alot), and honestly if I have to choose between crab and lobster I'm going with high end crab any day. --- Proud member of the Arv The Great is great fan club!!! | Topic | Could i adopt a child as a single guy? |
| wolfy42 07/13/17 1:21:44 PM #10 | Bah, don't listen to them. I would LOVE to have a son or daughter and raise them. I care not one bit if they are my "flesh and blood". I personally would prefer to raise a child who would not have a loving family otherwise, and I would rather not bring another life into this world. I'm too old though and will not try and raise a child who won't turn 18 before I'm over 60 (I'm not even likely to make it another 10 years with my family history, I've already outlived everyone in my immediate family). If your young enough, go for it. Just make sure you are finacially secure enough to provide the child a good life, and responsible enough to take the job seriously. Put the child first, and you'll be a good dad. From personal experience when you are taking care of a young child, you will run into a TON of single mothers who may be very interested in you (even if your old like me). Single dads I guess are attractive or something (no clue). So you might meet someone to raise your kids with eventually anyway. That certainly shouldn't be why you adopt, but it's an added long term bonus. Anyway there are tons of kids out there that need loving parents. You probably would have a much easier time adopting an older child though, and would help them more (there are usually plenty of people waiting to adopt babies or very young children). --- Proud member of the Arv The Great is great fan club!!! | wolfy42 07/13/17 1:05:02 PM #11 | Well, they have been over to my house many times and really love it, especially the view. It's a large house with two floors that make it like two apartments . Downstairs has it's own bathroom, living room, bedroom, kitchen and the only reason I would ever need to go down there is the laundry room is at the bottom of the stairs (We would need to share that). My downstairs is about 3x as large as their current appartment. In addition, I shared the upstairs living room and dinning room with my last roomate (and we probably would as well as an entertainment area for watching shows together, playing video games etc). The downstairs living room has a wood burning fireplace (The upstairs has a gas fireplace). It's a small kitchen downstairs, but the upstairs one is a really nice kitchen with a skylight (nice big open skylight where you can hear the rain hit the glass). I also have 2 unused bedrooms upstairs (Well one is an office but could be used as a bedroom), another unused bathroom all at the top of the stairs that go down, which they could use as well (That is besides having a huge basement area for storage). I also have a very expensive air conditioning unit I put in last year ($10k), which costs pretty much nothing to run (hence the expense) but keeps it a nice 69 degrees all the time (they have a little portable air conditioner but yeah, not nearly the same). So yeah, they "probably" get free rent, or at least reduced, but it's a tiny apartment, which fits in one of my living rooms (the whole apartment). It would be a massive upgrade for them. That is not even counting the view of pugent sound with the lights on it at night etc (Everyone mentions the view when they come here). Man worry I have is this is all expensive, and I would like whoever moves in to at least be able to help a bit with the expenses. I spend over $2k a month between mortgate/taxes/HOA and utilities. I wouldn't need them to pay half, but I'd like them to be able to at least pay like the utilities + HoA (so like $700 a month) or something. I could rent the downstairs alone for $1500, but I didn't even charge that much for the friend that is just moving out (I charged her $1000). So yeah, it's certainly not something I think anyone would just turn down. They would still have privacy, their bedroom would be almost as big as their current bedroom + living room, and their living room would be bigger then their whole current apartment. Their kitchen would be...about the same size. They would have a nice big balcony with a great view, air conditioning, their own washer and dryer (don't have one right now, although they would need to share with me). Larger/better bathroom, and that is just saying what they would have downstairs. I just freaking live in my room pretty much, I have 2 TV's in here (one I use for a monitor for my laptop sometimes, or for my ps4 etc, the other is for watching actual TV), my bed which is electric, so it turns into a seat if I want etc. I have my own bathroom in here, and a walk in closet. I literally only go out into the rest of the house if I'm socializing, or cooking in the kitchen. So yeah, I'm pretty sure I could make an offer they would accept, but the question is, do I really want to have someone else live here (Even if I really like them), and if so, do I want to charge so much less then I could? I'm not rich, and not working right now, so even $1000 less a month is a big deal right now. --- Proud member of the Arv The Great is great fan club!!! Join today by putting it in your sig. |

| wolfy42 07/13/17 4:04:52 AM #3 | helly posted... or just don't bring it up at all because they're going to tell you no. I'll probably just bring up casually that I'm looking for a new roomate eventually and see what they say. --- Proud member of the Arv The Great is great fan club!!! | wolfy42 07/13/17 3:56:46 AM #1 | I have these friends, one is my DM, and the other is his wife. They are great. They like the same books as me, same kinda movies, good friends, old enough to be responsible, have a great dog who thinks he's a cat and the husband even freaking works at gamestop. I mean like perfect roomates. I wasn't even thinking about having someone else move in here after the last time just didn't work out at all, but.....we all have the same interests and I think we would have a blast living together. Thing is, the wife manages the apartments where they currently live. I have not asked specifics, but usually you get drastically reduced rent or free rent in exchange (i've had friends who did that in the past). I mean, I could have them live here for just the increase in utilities etc, but if it didn't work out, they would lose the current setup they have, with her getting free or greatly reduced rent. I could leave that up to them and still offer, but I don't want to make them feel uncomfortable if they say no etc. So not sure what I should do. I'm thinking for now I'll just hold off. I'm still cleaning up the home and organizing it after my previous roomate left, and i'm not in a rush to have someone else move in here. Still, would be great to have people live here with the same hobies, interests, books, games etc that I have. Wish the wife didn't have a job as an apartment manager as it would be an easy decision then. --- Proud member of the Arv The Great is great fan club!!! Join today by putting it in your sig. |
| Topic | Would you walk, or bike ride to a gym one mile away? |
| wolfy42 07/13/17 3:50:32 AM #24 | 3mph is considered average walking speed. If you have a decent stride and walk fast, you can double that easily, and maintain it for a very long time. 6mph is a mile every 10 minutes. So yeah, I can totally see someone walking a 12 minute mile no problem --- Proud member of the Arv The Great is great fan club!!! Join today by putting it in your sig. |

Supposedly like 50% of the population has money automatically deposited into their account, then automatically taken out for rent/bills, and has pretty much nothing left afterwards. --- Proud member of the Arv The Great is great fan club!!!
