Why are you replacing my quote with nonsense? You might as well have included another one with Nintendo.

Sugar, caffeine, cheese, whatever are not like cigarettes or harder addictive drugs.

Millions, billions of people can consume the former without becoming addicted because there is nothing physically addictive about them. Cigarettes, like some of their harder cousins, start creating physical dependence from day 1. Big Tobacco is essentially a legal crack dealer, hooking a bunch of people on their poison and abusing that harmful dependence for monetary gain.

I'm not arguing that only cigarettes can be consumed to one's detriment. I'm arguing that comparing drug abuse and addiction to eating food is disingenuous.

Caffeine isn't horribly addicting?

And from the logic of "I don't want to pay for others self induced ailments" it certainly is a valid point that sugar puts just as many if not more people in the hospital every year.

Obesity costs UK health care, but at the very fucking least you don't blow obesity in someone's face, smoke does. And by your strawman logic, we might as well decrease intake of red meat and not have people do dangerous things like I dunno, drive a motorized vehicle.

The fact of the matter is, none of your strawman arguments will work when it comes to a habit like smoking, which harms everyone else (sometimes even more so than the actual smoker!) unlike all other bad vices, which harm the user and don't infect everyone within a square mile with that putrid smell and risk of cancer.
