Hobo with a Shotgun is kewl. It's one of the few modern movies to kill children onscreen.

EDIT: I don't like killing children. I'm just saying usually when a movie tries to do this its offscreen or implied. This movie played it straight, and for the shock value entwined to the movie's premise.

Amplitude (PS4)

Utter garbage. I unlocked and 2-bar'd all 30 songs on Intermediate difficulty, I think that counts as "beating" it.

Anyways as I was saying. Utter garbage. I was SO psyched when I found out they followed up the PS2 cult classic but the game itself has become a lifeless shell of its former self. Not a single rock song; everything was electronic. The theme of being inside the brain instead of a trippy parallel universe where music roads are king was at first intriguing until I realized it was an excuse to produce the most minimalist UI I've ever seen. You don't even have an Avatar playing the instruments anymore and instead you have different ships with different names and crosshairs, with no ability to acquire new ships anyway.

Don't get me wrong, the game was fun. But the game's spirit felt exorcised in order to make a quick buck.

Hey that's pretty high already in my book.

I didn't initially get the theme either but it's apparently post-apocalyptic wild west when I opened the box. What's weird is, you even get to play as a cat if you'd like.

The game's real interesting to say the least, and I swear I think it was intentional but one of the robotic companions in this game looks awfully like that pyramid guy from gravity falls

I just played the Amplitude remake on the PS4 last night and I had no idea that Crypteque was a bonus unlockable song! *gush*

But the remake itself was trash. It became a hollow version of its original self and all the songs were mindlessly electronic

I own Cyclades (and Titans) but haven't played it yet. A guy I regularly game with has Inis arriving this week as part of a combined order we did. I'm excited to finally try both, but I don't know if either can top Kemet for me (aka my #5 of all time).

That's awesome! I'm having my first 5p Kemet game next month. It's always been 3p until then.

I tried out Inis at a cafe a few weeks ago. Definitely a different breed and worth checking out.

Wow I didn't expect Kemet to be the first to go. But I do admit that it is a tad generic.

Kemet is a 1-2 hour lite wargame where attacking is the best offense and defense. Like seriously, if you main protoss you get the idea as it gives you the ability to teleport everywhere around the map at anytime, making border tensions useless.

I've had this on my PC for years but was too afraid to play em cos I'm a sissy with horror games. This is the kind of course that doesn't spam jumpscares...so when it does jumpscare you it really sucks.

Okay I know the Org comes back in some shape or form. But that was later. Put yourself in 2005 when the game came out, and see how the Nobody angle was gonna play out. Without ever knowing what it could've been now, wouldn't you think that the Org of Xehanort's Nobodies could have lasted awhile longer? Especially since Chain of Mems showed how much of a threat 3 of its members alone posed to Sora?

Meh...I thought it was kinda cool. It was rather symbolic of their implicated existence as husks of the victims Sora couldn't save. It was a nice fad, I'll admit. Seeing as I was in highschool when KH2 came out, everyone was making OC Nobodies and it was cool. Even I made one. Exact/Cate. Wieled a sniper rifle with a revolving chamber. I was young lol. I actually miss seeing actual character creation threads on the KH2 board.

Barring the OCs that were really terrible. I thought it was healthy; because it implied that because these 13 Nobodies exist, perhaps many more would.

Nope, 2nd game kills every single one of them.

They honestly ruined it as early as the 2nd game. Org13 was suppose to be the Espada, the Akatsuki of the Kingdom Hearts universe. They set them up to be sincere threats in Chain of Memories. Sora couldn't dance with Axel and Larxene and even when he "beat" them it wasn't total victory. It took ALOT of effort to beat Marluxia---literally the last ranking member who had a second form to boot (at the time I had assumed every member had one). And they were actually successful in their plans btw. Sora successfully lost his memories. They were close.

Then KH2 happens. And Sora wipes the floor with whoever remained. Like, all he did was sleep and grow up in a tower. He got new threads from a wizard and suddenly he's a badass? I expected more. I expected the Org to survive over to a next game and make the fights and appearances more meaningful but nope, they're just respective endbosses to the world-of-the-day. The only people who had any significant personality and resilience were Xigbar and Demyx. And I guess Mansex counts for being behind it all but man he was an obligatory pushover compared to Heartless Ansem.

Gameplay is more important than story to me, and KH2's mess of a story isn't enough to ruin its great gameplay. The series just falls off a cliff from there because a lot of players do enjoy the story and so that became the focus at the cost of the gameplay.

Press X to win and Press Triangle to win harder are not amazing gameplay mechanics.

Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin (PC)


When I made my post, I was actually around Nashandra's part. I just powered through and finished it straight away now.

Good luck with the Fume Knight if you haven't beaten him. He's a real pain in the ass like Artorias 2.0

Congrats man, well done! Yeah Dark Souls 2's main game bosses are generally quite easy compared to other games in the series, but I've heard other things of the DLC ones...especially Fume Knight yeah, kind of worried that I'll get my ass kicked.

I think my favorite thing about Dark Souls is the lore. Like you, I was really doubtful I'd be able to finish anything in this game, but what kept me playing was the lore. I love the concept of playing a world that's long dead and you are only scratching the surface of what little distorted history there is. I was amazed when I actually found Artorias' famed sword in DS2 and its description had turned it into something mundane and forgotten.
