The armchair shitposting philosopher in me thinks it might be because typical male culture is much less forgiving of appearing "weak", and believing in fortunes and moon signs and shit is considered weak. Most of the type of men who would otherwise believe in that stuff are probably roped into major religions.

Also, purely anecdotal, but most new-age and pagan women I see have a severely hostile opinion of traditional religious structures, usually because they themselves were abused by them or know someone who was. It stands to reason that a lot of these people who believe in spiritualism, but are exposed to the evils propagated by mainstream religions, would seek spiritual fulfillment through alternative means.

Haven't played the Witcher so I can't comment on it specifically. But in general the appeal of RPG gameplay is that it's pretty relaxing and simple.

Like I actually prefer Mass Effect 1 to the later style because you can just casually stroll around the map, dropping abilities when you need to, and the action elements are very forgiving because you're expected to be investing your points into stuff like HP and Shielding that absorb most of the damage.

Same with like, Final Fantasy. A lot of the gameplay is prep-work and then the combat is basically just sailing through with whatever build is most appealing to you. You can spam basic attacks or try to be clever with spells etc, there's no real "wrong" way to play.

The killing curse is actually a pretty demanding spell and as simple as it should be it doesn't get cast much in live combat. Iirc most of its uses in the books were in assassination scenarios where the victim was ambushed or otherwise couldn't defend themselves.

It's a really fun show so far.

I'm baffled that everyone's so mad about the twerking scene, I thought it was funny. Star Lord does a dance off with the main villain in the climax of the movie, it's A+ material, but Jessica can't shake her ass in the privacy of her own office.

To be fair, the specific dance move in question can also be a factor.

That was a bit forced but it was technically the only way to free Superman from mind control. It's stupid when you think about it for more than two seconds, but that's the way they wrote it.

Most of the time she tries her damndest to go for non-lethal/submission victories. She just doesn't have editorially-mandated neuroses about killing people in defense that most other DC heroes tend to get saddled with. >_>

Tbh they've been periodically reinventing her and adding to her character since the first crisis. Since the 80s she's gone from a normal amazon that's been around since WW2, to a clay golem given life by gods that only entered man's world recently (using her mom as the WW2 era Wonder Woman), and to a demi-god daughter of zeus. They've destroyed and restored Amazonia a couple of times by now and keep tweaking her purpose in "man's world".

But I do sort of agree on the "Geoff Johns treatment". As much as I hate his Silver Age nostalgia wankery, his treatment of Paralax and Reverse Flash gave those titles a sort of anchor that was fun to follow.

Kinda funny, Justice League Dark did this Witching Hour story and I feel like they could've established Hecate as something of that role. But they treated her as a sort of one-and-done event villain. >_>
