There's a lesser known interaction during this where you can bonk Charizard while it's circling, and it will get angry and fly away instead of landing. The Typhlosions go back to doing their regular stuff. Except now, 4* Typhlosion will get synergy from the second Typhlosion being in frame. This is so strange that people have questioned whether it's actually a bug in the game. There are no other known instances of "situational" synergy like this, and it doesn't even affect any other Typhlosion poses other than this 4*. You could take this same shot without doing the Charizard thing and it wouldn't be worth 5k.
This is so weird. Definitely sounds like a bug.

I don't feel like I can rate this one but it really didn't do it for me, at least overall. I was super interested in the first half of the story: the characters are all great, the setting is insanely interesting, there's clear intrigue and high stakes. I've got nothing bad to say about it! Then the second half felt like it just went in a completely different direction and lost me. I got the first two endings (and watched the other two), read all the extra material that existed in the game, and still felt like there were some serious plot holes -- not to mention stuff about the world that I was really looking forward to learning more about but just seemed to be forgotten. Beyond that, I felt like the writing overall took a big hit in the second half, especially when it came to... like, everything involving Kaine.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus (Switch)

I saw the credits roll a few days ago but I wanted to complete the Pokedex, side quests, and post-game.

Overall I loved this game and played it kind of obsessively for the past week and a half. There's a lot to like about it: exploring is fun, catching Pokemon is fun, the boss fights are cool (though I wish there were more of them). There are a lot of nits to pick but mostly it's fine.

The one big issue is that the actual battle system is just. Fucking awful? For like, a lot of reasons. It's incredible that Pokemon has had the same battle system for 25 years, changed it once, and made it worse. Might as well have just not had Pokemon battling in the game at all.

took a break from the game for a bit, but today I finished off (post-game) the weather trio. Dealing with their overworld gimmick just was not fun for me, maybe I was dealing with it wrong but it was a lot of forced time-wasting which is lame.
I liked it for the trio because it felt hectic but doable, but Enamorous (possibly spoilers for you if you haven't caught everything yet?) was just a pain. Eventually I just cheesed her with stealth spray and dozens of smoke bombs.

Oh for fuck's sake. Okay. America specifically intervened in Central and South America, staging coups and installing pet dictators because America was able to do so to maintain their power and authority in the Western Hemisphere. We were able to do this SPECIFICALLY because we did not have any competing regional powers to fend off (either via conflict, or diplomatic alliances), allowing us the ability to run roughshod over our southern neighbors. Happy?

Everybody knows that. The thing is people don't actually want to fix any of the homelessness/environmental/etc problems they cite as reasons to not build new stuff. They just use all that as an excuse to prevent new building simply because they don't want it. Cities are doing exactly what their residents want, even though what they want is stupid.
Yep, and I think it probably all goes back to most of people's wealth being in their homes. Of course they don't want housing prices to drop. It's selfish but it makes sense.

I'm not sure why it should be the college's problem? Those students could all just move to Berkeley anyway even if they don't get admitted. If the city wants to fight homelessness it needs to actually provide more low cost housing, not order a college to admit less people. Very simple solution. Weird that so few cities in America can figure it out.

Shovel Knight: King of Cards (Switch)

So I think this was my least favorite of the 4 campaigns. The stages themselves were fine, but I really did not enjoy Joustus at all and never felt like I got any good at it. Luckily you can kind of brute force your way through with powerful cards and Chester's cheats.

I didn't think I'd end up playing all 4 stories in a row like this, but I wasn't really up to starting some new game and this was simple and familiar. Taken as a whole Shovel Knight is a really, really good package of game(s).
