Trying to find something new. Watched an episode of To the Abandoned Sacred Beasts and liked it enough to be intrigued. I was disappointed the war stuff went by in like half an ep, and they went to a standard revenge narrative. Hoping that doesn't set the trend and they just speed read through things. I was liking all the brutality and shit. Might give it another ep or two before fully committing.

Bookworm S3 and Shield Hero S2 done. I would love a 4th season of Bookworm. Shield Hero fell super flat and really needs S3 to make up ground. God what a bore.

I think wishing death on someone is extreme and says more about how much of a douchebag they are than the person they wish death on. Vince may have done some shit, but pulling a Ryback and saying, "I want him and his old ass mother to fucking die." is pretty classless.

It's fine he's retired to go, "hooray," or whatever, but still respect that he worked his ass off to make WWE what it is. That's the decent response anyway. But this is social media: decency and class can't compete with memes.

I put Fire Force on hold because of vacation coming up. I decided to speed re-watch Konohana Kitan. Just a nice, easy slice of life/yokai comedy to get invested in.

Well...that explains it. Weiss having bitch fits against Ruby was most of Season 1. Her going petty edgelord would make sense.

Have they mentioned why Weiss is the poster girl for this project? Unless they are adding new content surrounding her, Ruby's always been the defacto main lead. Weiss's main story arc really doesn't hit until Volumes 4-7 anyway.

I didn't hate the Bebop live action. It got a couple episodes and characters right (Spike/Jet, the Pierrot le Fou episode), but everything else was weird and off-putting.

And hey, dropping a second season saved us from anymore Live Action Radical Edward.

I couldn't believe it if I thought it, but I think Spy x Family finally unseated Bebop as my favorite anime. The last scene of episode 12 is just so adorable and stupid and fun. I died laughing. I'll have to sit on it some more, but Anya forcing Loid and Yor to bring plushies out in public to buy her peanuts was so adorable.

That and watching OPs and EDs back nearly every 2-3 days probably means something too...

Started up Fire Force/Enen no Shouboutai just now. I'm digging it from the premise alone "Super powered firefighters fighting fire beings with MOSTLY more fire...). Played mostly straight and heavy, with just nice enough dash of comedy.

At least Square seems to have a willingness to revive dead franchises finally. Wonder if they'll have the balls to do anything with Mana.

Yes. Elite has a great premise, but much like Shadows House, it does a lot of stupid shit when it really shouldn't have to.

FFIX also has Daguerreo Library and Dali: subtle town themes that get overlooked because other great stuff.

It's very lightweight fluff, but an easy enough watch. I'm sure it does all the cliche school junk (swimsuit episode, School festival episode, firework whatever thing). I usually chalk these up to character chemistry and writing.

It is really weird re-watching a show with such a heavy Vic McNogna presence being a show about "pleasing girls"...but kind of unavoidable at this point. I mean, can't dismiss Persona 3 or FMA for the same reasons I guess.

Speaking of old shows, I'm checking out Ouran in my usual "nostalgia phase." Just seeing if it holds up.

I want to say left and came back. I know when I first got Funi a couple years ago, I watched it along with Bebop. It has definitely been available. My problem with Trigun is the first...10-12 episodes really paint an annoying comedic picture. When you contrast it to what kind of shit it does in the second half...hot fucking damn. It's kind of like watching Bebop, and having the Spike and Vicious storyline, but you have to watch the Radical Edward focused stuff for like 3-4 episodes straight. That and the goofy old school animation really created a disconnect.

Again, Trigun is great, and holds up, but the older I get, the worse the comedic bits tend to be. Stuff like Bebop and Lagoon are far less wacky and more grounded in the pulpy action.

It was on Funimation forever though...

Shadows House has an intriguing premise, but is played too funny for it's own good sometimes.

Shield Hero is slowly starting to get back to better episodes. More world hopping (and Filo shenanigans) help. God that tortoise arc was so boring.

I will always hold a soft spot for 3. It was the first one that I played. It also had Nel making up for Fayt's sheer fucking derpy vibes. The invention system was pretty expansive, but was let down the randomness factor. I know they had random numbers to avoid spamming "lol, Orichalcum weapons in seconds", but holy crap. And goddamnit that plot twist. I know the story was barebones basic shit...but I knew that was a wet fart in church of a twist, even without context. I've never forgiven them for that. 1 and 5 were serviceable (thought 5's budget led to some weird ass visuals). I'm not expecting much here. I give the series credit for being unabashed Star Trek nerds and dripping in that style. It's not good or anything, but I love the Trek-ness dripping from it whenever it isn't drowning in anime.

But yes. Whoever designs these characters can't make faces for crap. Elena has THE BOOBS...but make a fucking face. Good dub cast though. Unless they have that little girl or robot saying "kay," it'll at least beat as decent as 3 and 5 was.

As for anyone asking, Star Ocean is standalone. Given the spotty nature of its releases, it sure as fuck benefits from not being connected to anything. I'm just shocked they even have the balls to still exist after 3's shitty twist. It was all a video game via a parallel world, the characters were computer data, and the main villain was a stupid programmer dude.

The "psychological test" hook was fine, but mostly superficial. It was a decent retelling of SH1, but nothing amazing.

Senko-san was the right choice for a rewatch. As soon as "MOFUMOFU YAY!" hit, I was smiling.

Twelve Kingdoms finished. I'm normally not one for political intrigue stuff, but the stuff at play here was done very well. Now it's off to rewatch some shows for a little while get some nostalgia pops. First is Senko-san, cause I can always use some happy stress free fun.

Royal is easily a better story than Strikers. Strikers goes for "Persona 5: Cliffnotes Edition" style of writing. There's no character depth at all. It's meant to be a musou game first, a Persona game second (though the new characters aren't bad. The Phantom Thieves are just accessories in their own game).

As for P3P and Golden, I love me some Persona on a platform I don't have to dig out of the closet.

Most places are a shitshow. I'm lucky there are still places on GFAQs that aren't fucking boner contents of trolls. Give me alll the season 2s. Devil is a Part-Timer is my long awaited high mark. Who knew a show about a devil taking over a fast food joint would be so much fun? RWBY: IQ and Shadows House 2 are hopefuls. I would have said the same about Classroom, had they not spent episodes last season talking about a stupid panty theft...

We all need more Weiss in our life. WHERE'S VOLUME 9?

Twelve Kingdoms about halfway done. There was a 5-6 episode stretch where absolutely fuck all was going on. But once the story shifted back to Yoko and two new girls, it picked right back up.

Lots of Season 2s coming. Always good news.

$8 is a bargain. 30 hours of weird visual novel fun.
