All I remember is going through Inuyasha, then somehow binge watching Ranma to get....about the same amount in. After watching the 100+ dubbed eps of Detective Conan (the best of these), I forever gave up on long series.

Even Brotherhood taxes me at this rate. I haven't rewatched that in years

I watched Inuyasha religiously until like 130 or something. Some episode about fog that makes them drunk. Also those weird bandits with Jakotsu or what's his name. After that long, I questioned what I did with my life to suffer so much filler shit.

52 or 78 episodes would have been fine....ugh.

The story is told in "Every main character gets a chapter" mode. Aprilis is an interesting character in theory and design, but like the rest of the game, only fleshed out halfway. The main villains are lackluster too, and I never felt this game captured lightning in a bottle like 8 did. It felt half finished, even after taking so many design ideas from 8.

Also, I wish they would decide whether or not they are making Adol fully voice acted. They are straining under the confines of their old traditions by giving him narration, voice line rah rah lines and in battle quips, and even stuff near the end....but nope. Still EXPLAINING THE SITUATION while actually saying nothing. It may help future stories out of they gave me a reason to care why this dork keeps getting he and Dogi in so much trouble all the time.

Outside of Watamote, none of those stood out to me. Sakamoto was fine. Sunday Without God started interesting, then died off. I mean, I'd like to see those shows, but HIDIVE still won't do that PS4/PS5 app (and that's why I can't get those shows).

RWBY is still great to me. They definitely went into a more edgy/angsty tone, but there's only so much they can do with the original comedic tone. Having rewatched it about a month ago, I can't say their ideas are perfect (last season a major character was jerked around like an idiot, redeemed, only for the show to go, "lol nope"Penny, an android, becomes human to escape a killer virus, just to be bumped off an ep later) sort of thing. But they have integrated way higher stakes and feel like they are a few seasons away from finishing. They just need a couple to get through the new arc they introduced, maybe 1-2 more to finish up, and i think that's where they are going.

Also, Konosuba movie watched. Show is so glorious and dumb, in the lovely Konosuba way.

Ascendance is really good in the derpy fun with low stakes way Spice and Wolf kinda was. More character focused rather than anything super dangerous (barring season finales). Also, not saying Ascendance is as good as Spice and Wolf (fuck no). Just comparing the feels the shows present.

I'm not about to completely throw out an interesting show just because the last of it's 5 listed genres is ecchi.

I've watched Tenchi Muyo like 4 times.

Tenchi was my first anime (hello 15 year old me). Still holds up, at least certain shows do (OG, Universe, 1st/3rd Movies).

It loses steam when a bait and switch villain happens, but you know the basic "Find the dude and save the world" plot is done very well. The game gives you a lot of subplots that work without distracting from always chasing the bad guys.

The one main issue I have with .hack as a narrative (both games are repetitive as shit, so I'm keeping that separate) is G.U. apes the OG game way too much. I'm curious what .hack would do with a storyline that wasn't "people in comas." G.U. is definitely an 8 or 8.5 version of said story...but man, I didn't need to see it again. At least SIGN and Roots feel slightly different.

Rewatching .hack//SIGN. Still a lovely counterpoint to all the Isekai stuff 20 years down the road by focusing so much on drama and almost zilch on the whole "game" aspect.

Such a different take that holds up.

Too much focus on Jr./M.O.M.O./Albedo (to the point the entire first disc is retreading that fucking subsconscious place over and over). Shion gets at best two scenes of importance despite being the main the first one. It pulls a "Look where we cut out a cutscene and probably an entire dungeon" recap scene just like Xenogears. Despite the early first part setting up things nicely, and the 2nd disc at least giving Shion something to fucking do, this is a slog.

I heard a rumor that this game is the ending Ep 1 originally was going to be...which certainly begs the question: how much fucking time and energy does Takahashi have to always go overbudget? This guy gives Hideaki Anno a run for his money without even having to try. Episode 1 would have been 70-80 hours if this was tacked on. That said...I kinda wish it was. Outside of Jin's new voice actor, NOTHING in Ep. 2 felt worthwhile. Well...maybe the music and the Jin/Margulis fight scene.

I refuse to acknowledge Ep. 2 exists. So much about that game is wrong on so many levels. Albedo and Jr. are interesting characters, but the rest of the cast didn't need to get locked in a closet for that to happen.

Not much there. 2-4 focused a lot on character sacrifices, and 3 at least had a happy medium between 2's dour stakes and 4's wimping out. Still, there's not a whole lot on 3's bones to make much fuss.

The amount of good atmospheric music in CC trumps the fact the battle theme...kinda sucks.

Scars Left By Time
Fort Dragonia
Viper Manor
Marbule (all verisons, but that freaking concert)
Chronomantique
Garden of the Gods
Radical Dreamers
Another World
Another Termina
Dragon Prayer
Dead Sea

I mean, I love me FF soundtracks, but CC is just absurdly rich in memorable themes. Even the less memorable stuff still makes for great music.

Without this all time classic music, this game would suffer mightily for it's poor execution of MANY ideas that didn't work to fruition. The music carries you through, even if your brain keeps frying the more the plot dies in its own contrivances.

Interviews With Monster Girls is a little over the five year mark, but didn't have a lot of fanservice. At least nothing overt like Strike Witches or the like. I forget if Helpful Fox Senko-San did outside of the one lady fox with the big boobs who only shows up once or twice. It was a great show that avoided the usual stupid by having a premise that was surprisingly wholesome.

Other shows that were so freaking good the fanservice shouldn't matter at all (KonoSuba) should be mentioned, but that revels in the fanservice too much it would probably be a turn off.

But it's KonoSuba! That's an instant recommendation for anyone anywhere.

More I remember
Ascendance of a Bookworm (more of a Isekai than a comedy, but still a comedic tone)
Cells At Work (stick with the first season, second season is played dark as fuck)
Toilet Bound Hanako-kun (think of a horror comedy/yokai mashup thing. Visual style is unique)
Wandering Witch Elaina (though and episode is...um..hoo boy; very dark)

Thinking of rewatching GITS Stand Alone Complex again (both seasons and maybe SSC). I eventually want to dig out the movies, and even try the Funimation stuff for a change of pace.

But my god, my will after 50 episodes would be tested...

Might be a "watch it, stop for a month, dive back" sort of thing. I love me Ghost in the Shell, but "easy, mindless watch" is not a description for it.

Yeah, that ending to Wonder Egg really died a death. Nothing really happened. I get the "have stuff for a second season" or "watch the manga ending" (whichever one applies here), but you would think after the awesome Frill setup, they would have some kind of climactic finale or crazy fight or some philosophical discussion about dreams and death and shit and...

...nothing. Just a bunch of plotlines they need a few more episodes to explore, but just chucked into one episode and said fuck it. Tacking on a recap episode to the beginning and making it a 45 minute episode of blue balls is really bleh. Still something I'm glad I saw. However, this is really high up there on the "wasted potential" scale of endings.
