XB1 is also significantly simpler to get into as well. Of course, I guess it depends on what you initially didn't like about 2's combat. Aerith will survive, it's gonna be a completely happy ending, hell it's even going to be a brand new story. As for me...I really doubt that'll be the case. I know they'll throw some curveballs but I don't think it'll ultimately lead to a drastically different story where all the notable story beats don't happen anymore. And Zack being alive is in a separate timeline so that doesn't ruin Cloud's backstory in any way. Like, why would the devs be adamant that the story isn't gonna drastically change despite the shit they pulled in Part 1? For that to make any sense to me, here's what I think. My guess is that Sephiroth's ploy in Part 1 was solely to get the ghosts of fate out of his way. It's his fate to be defeated, for his plan to end up the way it did in the original FF7. So by tricking Cloud and the others to defeat the Arbiters of Fate, he's free to do as he pleases. After that, I believe he will keep making consistent appearances to try to lure the party into going in essentially the same kind of journey as before, but with some changes that end up in his favor. As in...Aerith might still die, but in a way that causes even more despair for the party, like maybe causing Cloud to go into a manic frenzy and accidentally kill her himself. There's some speculation that this game may end up being the ESB of the trilogy, so characters might end up in a worse situation than they did in the original, with the bad guys gaining the upper hand and all hope seems lost by the end of this part.
