All these votes for Mega Man 7 are shocking to me. This could be the biggest travesty in these tournaments so far

Mega Man 7 clearly has a much higher play rate than Phantasy Star IV. I don't think any user who has played both would choose to vote the former. One is a bottom tier Mega Man game and the other is one of the best JRPGs of its time.

Considering how I always felt lukewarm about the two Valkyrie Profile games, this looks... interesting.

Plot is just not good at all. It just feels like a sequel for the sake of being a sequel kinda plot. NMH2 felt like a step backwards in every way from the original.

It feels so weird to vote for Mega Man X5 which is a borderline bad game but it is still leagues better than X6 and 7 and slightly better than 8.

I agree with this statement.

Soulsborne fans (I myself am a huge one ) are only matched if not outright surpassed in elitism by none other than SRPG fans with Fire Emblem being the absolute worst of them.

I struggled like hell with Radiant Dawn but managed to complete it without losing a unit after so many restarts and struggles so yeah I loved that they included 'casual' from Awakening and onwards where I don't wanna restart a Mission just because one of my units ended up missing an attack and getting countered with a crit.

Simple answer, I like Battletoads but I can never beat it 'legitimately' as you would call it. Not sure why I did for Adventure Island 1. That game blows but I just did. No real reason. I like beating games and I rather resort to cheating than flat out giving up.

In the spirit of this topic, I remember a long while back I made a topic about how much I enjoyed Fire Emblem: Awakening, detailing my experience with the game. I mentioned in the topic about playing on Hard/Casual, and a user (if I remember correctly it was Tcaz but I could be mistaken. It was loooong time back) acted as if I burned his house to the ground lol.

He kept saying I didn't beat the game and how I beat what was a spectre or a phantom version of the game of something of that sort. Dude was pissed like I kicked his puppy or slept with his girlfriend. It was beyond hilarious.

After that I soon came to realize, that was basically the Fire Emblem fanbase in a nutshell.

As far as beating games are concerned, I have my own criteria for them and don't give a shit what anyone else says or care what they define a game as beaten.

For example, I use save states for many of the NES games that I couldn't beat or find too punishing with limited lives and continues. I usually save at the beginning of a level and when I die or lose my lives, I reload the save state. Battletoads and Adventure Island 1 are prime examples of these. I consider these "beated" by my criteria and don't care what other gatekeepers say.

Kinda funny how more people have played this game than Typo.

The most recent and best example of this for me is Elden Ring.

A lot of people complaining about the difficulty of the game if you don't use Summons, Magic build or an OP build. All I want to say is that, yes Elden Ring is the hardest FromSoftware game if you restrict yourself from the options available to you but in no way, shape or form is it anywhere close to impossible like the majority of the fanbase complain it to be. Yes, you'll likely die hundreds of times before you overcome the hardest bosses in the game but it can be done.

My first playthrough of Elden Ring without using summons and sticking to my build from previous Souls games may have been one of the hardest experiences I've had in a video game but it was also one of the most satisfying ones. My subsequent playthroughs where I shredded Bosses with OP builds like Rivers of Blood and Moonveil Katana were nowhere near as gratifying and rewarding.

So I don't know why that aspect of the game is used as a sleight against the game by some of its detractors.

Edit: Topic-wise, I consider the various features of Elden Ring to be QoL improvements over its predecessors.

The only controversy was Rock Band 2 should have won because of how embarrassing Deus Ex fans were acting despite Deus Ex being the better game.

Final Fantasy VII was my favorite game before Elden Ring and I'll be the biggest advocate for anything FF7 related but even I have to agree that Crisis Core has a ton of flaws especially with their original content. The scenes from the original FF7 were really well done though and I can't help but think Aerith from CC laid the groundwork for her character in the remake which is one of the strongest parts of that game.
