There's a piece of heart mini game in the hole next to the fairy fountain. Kinda late to do it now but if you win on all three days you get the heart. (Or maybe the heart is always the day 3 prize? i forget).

Other than that you can try to glitch yourself out of clock town and grind rupees, but yeah there isn't much to do. I think the first cycle is deliberately light to encourage first timers to get a lay of the land and see as much of the central hub as possible, since so much content revolves around those locations and characters

This game is so good. Just wandering around the evironments is such a comfy audio/visual experience.

I tried pointing this out in other places besides CE so people could debunk it on Christian terms but I was either ignored or people focused on the argument from a secular perspective, which isn't what I was looking for.

It's kinda hard to debunk it "on Christian terms" because the history and tradition of the Christian church is overwhelmingly supportive of his thesis.

The only way to "debunk it" is to appeal to the core of Christ's teachings of love, inclusiveness, and caring for people more than laws or money. But unfortunately these assholes are ahead of the curve there and their whole argument is "Jesus's teachings only count if you use them be to be a bigoted shitstain to minorities". And there's just no feasible way to argue with that kind of nonsense in good faith, because they're not operating in good faith to begin with.

I'm not really sure what would count as exploration by your definition, then. >_> When I was a kid playing Sonic 2 I explored Hill Top Zone and was rewarded with a route that didn't have any lava, lol. Or more skilled players can find extra star posts for earlier access to Super Sonic.

As for adventure games, it's moreso just enjoying that I can play the game, to some degree, at my own pace and initiative while still progressing. Windwaker annoyed the hell out of me because you can "explore" the ocean, but you can't actually do anything if you find places before you're supposed to. (Come on, Nintendo, it wouldn't break the game to let me get the Ice/Fire arrows early!)

When I think "exploration", I think "being rewarded for going off the beaten path". In platformers you're usually rewarded with shortcuts or alternate routes. In RPGs it can be optional dungeons or fun sidequests.

Adventure games like Zelda and Metroid, I think exploration is more "how many variances can you make on your route". Like in OoT you can technically do the Fire Temple before Forest, and Water before Fire, and Gerudo's Fortress anywhere inbetween. Compared to later games where you're largely stuck in one linear story route.
