It's basically his journey from playing Sim City, to Age of Empires, and eventually Age of Mythology. That being said, once you look past the character development given for the side characters, the story is ultimately the same generic power fantasy found in most isekai stories.

I suppose the web novel has time to go into goofy side adventure stuff, such as Rimuru building a dungeon and controlling bosses inside it along with Milim and Veldora, 'terrorizing' adventurers within just for the lulz.

TopicWhat's the quickest non-harmful way to get fired from your job?
DuneMan
11/29/22 8:35:35 AM
#15
The quickest way is to work for an arrogant and entitled boss in a non-union job.

If the job involves production in some way, an accident in the workplace that spoils the product can have you fired on the spot. If the boss asks you to do some business travel planning, make a mistake on the hotel or car rental booking and you might be fired on the spot. If you need to travel from one site to another, get lost while driving and end up several hours late...

If you aren't looking to be fired on the spot then what you want is to be selected for a 'lay off'. Getting fired looks bad to prospective future employers. Being laid off though could just be the result of downsizing. The quickest way to get laid off is to just work slower than everyone else. People who are good in conversations can cover for that, allowing them to get by while doing less work. If you don't build up that workplace network though you'll be susceptible to lay offs.

It's a mashup of that and a simplified version of the tabletop rules.

It doesn't quite adhere to that set of rules as strictly as Solasta does the rules for D&D(though Solasta is a great interpretation of 5th edition in that regard) but it's close enough that you can get a good feeling for the tabletop from playing Battletech.

There's also the element of mech design to consider. Which models do you use, how do you equip them, and the big consideration of heat sinks and heat generation, etc...

I'll spend $3-4 on a frozen pizza then customize that a bit. For example, a Rising Crust Supreme pizza from Safeway's Signature Select line. That'll give you a good amount of pepperoni, sausage, onions, peppers, and olives for under $4.

That's way more cost effective than trying to make it from base ingredients. Super markets like to upcharge every last ingredient for that process.

For one fight, maybe two. If you're burning your third level slot right away and spamming Shield to boost your AC you're going to spend half the day being as effective as a level one character.

DMs will usually find ways to coax spell usage out of the spell casters. E.g. you might encounter a situation where Fly would incredibly useful, so you'd actually burden the party for a day if you're saving it just for Fireball.

There are also means to boost melee characters if that is desired for high power level play. E.g. hand out a Flametongue weapon. Now they're adding Fire damage dice to their attacks. Usually DMs should be hesitant about exceeding power bands, but if the campaign is supposed to be high impact, high fantasy, it might fit.

Yeah, this includes remasters of games too, but only some of them.

For example, Borderlands includes the newer edition with HD textures, customization options, new loot and chest locations, etc. The same holds for Skyrim, both the original and Special Edition with its 64-bit engine upgrade and newer content.

But Mass Effect's Legendary Edition is NOT included for some reason.

Melee, Fighters especially, simply focus on single target damage. If you need to pop a boss like a balloon, a Fighter with Action Surge and 4-6 attacks(maybe more in some circumstances) is the way to do it. Of course a bit of teamwork to give the melee character Advantage on each attack makes things all the better.

Without going into too much of a tangent, you can do other things with melee classes through Feats and the like. E.g. if you have Polearm Master one of the abilities is to use your Reaction to cut down approaching enemies. Since you have a 10' threat range with a polearm you can screen incoming enemies along a 20' line. This can help cover for those squishy casters.

On One D&D, I'm sure people are telling them that some of the nerfs in playtesting are too harsh. Like, IIRC Evasion for Rogues got bumped up to being s high level feature. Rogues were already bad enough in combat that they don't need nerfs. I.e. if they aren't dealing sneak attack damage then they're a liability. At least in the current rules you can eke out extra bits of damage on other people's turns, whether through Commander's Strike, an enemy fleeing an ally, or some other feature.

If you go by the PHB, Half-Elf has that sweet customizability since you get to choose which stat gets a bonus. If Feats are allowed along with the Variant Human then that wins out due to strong feats available: GWM, Sharpshooter, Polearm Master, etc. (Incoming nerfs are suggested from playtest material, but DMs can homebrew nerfs like making the damage boost tied to Proficiency Bonus instead of a flat +10.)

One potential upside to the One D&D testing is that they seem interested in the idea of all Feats providing +1 to a stat, so you don't have to completely sacrifice an ASI for a Feat. Personally though I'd rather Feats just be part of progression alongside ASI's.

One Arm is fun. Give him the biggest shotgun you can find and fire through entire groups.

Engineer is fun in doses, but it probably helps that I like pet classes in games like the Borderlands series. Find some medical turrets as you go and he can become almost unkillable thanks to the rapid healing.

Knight is an interesting idea, and ends up being a relatively strong class despite the melee limitation.

Depends on the type of vampire, as some can feed from animals. Even World of Darkness vampires can feed on rats; well, depending on their clan, a Ventrue trying to do that would have a really bad time...

But I wouldn't worry too much. Humans keep multiplying, we've officially breached 8 billion now, and even if civilization collapses there should be pockets of surviving humans to hunt/feed from.
