Just remember when it comes to illusion magic you really have to use it a lot to keep up with the perks because without the perks they will stop working. As long as you're using it at least once every combat it should be enough but spamming it doesn't hurt either.

i can just cast an invisibility spell or some shit when sneaking up on an especially powerful enemy right

im terrible at video games dude. the bandit marauders crush my skull in with a warhammer constantly so im spamming healing potions like heck. or the master vampires turn me into a vampire which is annoying.

yeah doing stealth archer in my previous plays it takes so god damn long to get through dungeons crawling with falmer and dwarven robot things

obviously it is OP but its also incredibly time consuming

anyway i've read about the enchanting loop so i guess i can try that. i literally never enchanted anything in the previous 100 hours or w/e i put into prior plays... think this is the third or fourth time i've started the game lol. never did any smithing either and only ever used healing and destruction magic. never did any soul gem stuff either although i collect the hell out of those things just in case

i'm an imperial btw cuz i like getting more gold. i also already have the crossbow but aint used it yet. i never see bolts as loot anywhere and i aint buying no stinkin ammo

i got the anniversary edition for ps5 cuz it was on sale and i never beat the game years ago

i wanna be able to steamroll this shit, just fuckin own everyone, not sneak around those big ass dwarven dungeons for 4 hours. i wanna KILL. i've always been geared more towards stealth but i wanna be more of a jack of all trades.

right now ive been making sure im balanced by getting my 5 trainer boosts each level at something i never really use (illusion, smithing, alteration, pickpocketing, etc) while stuff i typically use (one handed, sneak, light armor, archery) is doing fine. i'm also using UESP to find skill books - i got a trophy for reading 50 of them already and i'm up to like level 21.

still havent found the horn of jurgen windcaller or w/e and have barely made a dent in any of the four major guilds, doing like 0-3 missions for them fyi. if you guys know any cool missions where i get cool shit to help me become the master of ownage...

anniversary edition comes w/ dragonborn, dawnguard, and various mods btw

anyway how do i became an awesome enchanter and get super strong and learn spells and just mow people down. need to do this so i can beat the game and also tackle a bunch of podcasts to listen to while playing

EEAAO is indeed a bad movie

however it will probably win best picture at the oscars and go down as a classic for some reason

lol I should really watch it again. I love David Lynch, but I prefer almost all of his movies over Mulholland Drive. Eraserhead, Blue Velvet, and Inland Empire are probably my favorites. (Well, Twin Peaks: The Return is my true favorite, but that's not a movie.) Which, again, isn't a strike against Mulholland Drive. It's good! But I'm obviously missing whatever it is that has everyone else ranking it so highly.

I more mean an unwillingness to admit more recent films have made developments in the medium as important as old foundational films like Metropolis. You risk more reputation or social capital to endorse something newer and less proven or standardized than you do ancient classics.

Especially in the last many decades, the opportunities for people of diverse minds and backgrounds to be able to create films has greatly increased

i don't really think there has been much paradigm shifting movies in recent memory honestly. what do you have in mind that is less snobby and more recent and in color that should be on the list

this seems like a perfectly fine bell curved timeline. although i think it is very stupid to have 4 movies from the past five years on a best of all-time list - also three movies from 1998-2001 are in the top ten which is absurd lol.

The number of black and white movies is setting off my snob alarm, or else, the list's curators have a high average age.

That said, Infinity War should never belong on such a list. The actual cinematography is pure standard, most of it is green screen and CGI, there's no message or goal besides profit. There's somehow several bad scenes like the 5,000,000 timelines handwave or making Starlord look like the biggest dick in the galaxy. Go ahead and applaud the producers' ability to ship out a bunch of movies with intersecting plots and bringing them together for this one, but Infinity War itself doesn't really do anything to merit the title of 'great film' from a film critic's view.

this list is actually more oriented towards newer movies than ever

although i don't see why a movie being in b&w would immediately make it snobby. is chaplin snobby?

Yeah, I saw Cleo and went 'nice.' I really ought to watch it again sometime, its theme is no less relevant today than it was 50 years ago.

What are some good high-art Latin films? Only one I distinctly remember from school was Black God, White Devil (though I never understood why they didn't go with the literal translation 'God and Devil in the Land of the Sun,' much better title imo). And then of course there's City of God.

i really have no clue. i am woefully inexperienced with southern hemisphere cinema. i imagine the lack of a canon from that part of the world is due to a lot of critics being lazy and just being content with what is streaming on the criterion channel - a service that is currently hosting like 50 of the films in the top 100. even the four films on the list from africa, the middle east, and india are all criterion releases!

and that's the issue i guess. we need to expand the canon beyond janus acquisitions imo. i find it odd that criterion is so heavily represented compared to kino or arrow or whichever other bluray label you like. like, you don't need to have everything be an 'art' film. you can go vote for an arrow release like the 36th chamber of shaolin and not feel guilty - it is a hugely influential film that kicked off the golden age of kung fu films (which have influenced all sorts of other genre films) and a masterpiece at that!!

i've been trying to get more interested in south asian, middle eastern, and african films recently but its hard since there isn't much of a compass outside of the usuals like kiarostami/farhadi, rajamouli/ray, and sembene. not much canonized by criterion for example which has OVER SIXTY of the top 100 s&s movies in their collection. my god. people need to branch out.

I feel like French new wave auteurs always get shafted on these lists outside of the big two and a token appearance or two from others, so it's nice to see Cleo from 5 to 7 so high up. I really love that movie. Now put some god damn Eric Rohmer on there.

its not really contrarian if you were already a consensus top 35 movie ever made lol. maybe if it was brand new to the list but jeanne dielman was already canonized.

also everyone figured with the voter pool expansion including more women that many women filmmakers would go up. which did happen. claire denis managed also a top 10 film, agnes varda had two films very high, meshes of the afternoon made its debut VERY high, julie dash and celine sciamma got debuts (sciamma being a v embarrassing pick however).

no lina wertmueller or elaine may tho. akerman also had another top 100 film.

The Coen Brothers not having anything in the top 100 is absurd.

they probably had the vote split. you could argue that several movies are their masterpiece whereas many other directors have a very obvious pick to go with.

i'm sure when the individual ballots are released in the next week you'll see them get plenty of rep.

Mulholland Dr at #8 is a wild choice. Not that I disagree or agree, just a wild choice.

a lot of people thought it could possibly get the top spot. it is the consensus lynch pick (since these things have lots of politicking in the voting - you vote for your fav director's most popular movie instead of your personal fav) and with s&s polling somewhere between 800-1,000 more new critics (many of whom would be millennials), it made sense to see it make a huge leap.

same with in the mood for love and beau travail.

there are more movies in the top ten made between 1998-2001 than made between 1898-1950 lol

Culture is much, much more fragmented now than it was during the 50s-00s: even the most obscure music is readily available; you don't have to hope the radio or MTV will air it. There are more TV shows to get into than ever before, consumed at viewers' convenience rather than set times.

In the absence of a singular culture, it's harder for a counter culture to form. People just have niches they're into now.
