It's a real mixed bag but I liked the boss fights, at least.

Off the top of my head I'd recommend:

Environmental Station Alpha
Shadow Complex
Rabi-Ribi
Lone Fungus

But our tastes are rather different aside from Hollow Knight at #1 so your mileage may vary!

Order of Ecclesia but that one wasn't really a Metroidvania. Also all the Lords of Shadows handheld games but nobody cares about those and I forget if they even came out around the same time.

I hear "drinkable" more than potable and definitely more than edible for drinks. Slightly different meaning though because typically if something isn't drinkable it just means it's gross, not that it'll poison you or isn't a liquid.

I was there in early June and admittedly I wasn't paying attention to advertisements, but it seemed like any store with video game anything had plenty of FF merch. It's not on Genshin's level but it still seemed pretty popular?

I loved Returnal... aside from the story. I'm okay with the risks it took, I just think the execution wasn't great. Still a fantastic game though.

X/Y were so bland they killed my interest in the series for nearly a decade.

I wonder if 4kids One Piece gets in here. So much crazy poorly thought our censorship. Zoro being changed to Zolo. People being scared of cork guns and rubber hammers. A plot important whale being turned into an iceberg. A dead mom being "put in the dungeon" instead, and then presumably left there after the villains are defeated because the crew stay around for days afterwards and nobody mentions her, including her daughters.

Oh the show seemingly ending with the strawhat crew being killed by falling wreckage.

I dunno, I've always found the criticism of this dub to be slightly overboard. Like when you compare it to some previous dubs like Card Captor Sakura and Yu-Gi-Oh I absolutely feel like One Piece stayed truer to its source material, and that many of those changes had pretty decent reasoning behind them:

-Zoro/Zolo was a legal issue.
-Cork guns and rubber hammers are tonally consistent with Usopp's weapons, and if you straight up aren't allowed to show realistic guns I'm not sure what the other option is (YGO edited them out completely, for instance, so you had people threatening each other with their pointer fingers...)
-Nobody knew Laboon was important at the time (but this one was still a big error and shows why you shouldn't make cuts without really thinking them through)
-They 100% implied Bellemere died or was executed in the dungeon.

IMO the bigger issue here was the theme song that was off-putting to begin with and then got progressively worse each time a new crewmate joined.

I don't think it's all that difficult for the most part (maybe about 5 or 6 levels in the first 8 worlds are fairly tough. haven't really put in the effort to try to beat worlds A to D), if you're playing a version that gives you infinite tries. It's much more difficult if you're playing the original version, where you get kicked back to the beginning of the world if you continue, and can only really stock up on extra lives in the first stage and they have to last you the entire game.

Basically the same situation for me and I agree with this analysis. The difficulty is a little overstated, as long as you're playing a version that lets you keep retrying.

I do remember a handful of levels being extremely tough for me but those were the exceptions.

This but for me it's an argument for Meekins over Nahyuta.

I feel practically certain that the top 5 are SNES, N64, GCN, PS1, PS2 in some order. Then I think I go with Switch, PS3, PS4, Wii, and Genesis for the next 5 with one obviously not making the top 9. I don't think the site really cares about portables or Xbox consoles enough for those to compete on the same level but I'd be happy to be proven wrong!

I didn't find those particularly difficult. A positive inclusion, not really, but less negative than most of Sunshine's attempts to be creative.

I feel like most games don't actually differentiate damage elements enough for me to really have a favorite.

But in a general sense, water I guess.

Galaxy also figured out that you can just make a 3D platformer with good controls and camera, whereas Sunshine did not.

Seinfeld I think, couldn't tell you the exact episode off the top of my head.

FIST was also free on Epic Game Store a while back, if that's useful to anyone.

I did indeed beat ZOE2 though I think it was after this topic was up, not sure the exact time. However you want to count that is okay with me.

It was definitely a game from 2003, with exactly the sort of flaws that would imply (awful dialogue/translation, mediocre-at-best VA work, way more NPC escort/defense missions than you'd like, shit-ass Sonic Adventure-style camera that just will not stop freaking out every time you move). However when you look past those flaws it is cool as hell, and I can definitely fuck with the late 90s anime-ness of it all. ...I think I said basically the same thing about Killer7 but to this game's credit it actually has a fun battle system going for it too.

My absolute fantasy scenario for AA7 is that it's about Mia in between the events of 3-1 and 1-1. They could even make Phoenix the assistant if they really wanted to keep him a main character.

If not that then I'm hoping for Athena, but after she barely got to be a lawyer in her own game and didn't even get to participate in the final trial of 6-5 I feel like I shouldn't expect much from her.

Call of Juarez: Gunslinger beaten

I loved the narrative framing here. Really top notch. The look and music of the game were pretty great too. The only thing I didn't love was the gameplay. I couldn't for the life of me figure out why so many shots that seemed perfectly lined up just didn't register. I wonder if it was a case of little twigs and leaves being bulletproof and getting in the way? The gun play was okay otherwise, just not incredible. I didn't really like the mechanics of the duels at all, they felt super arbitrary whether I'd win or lose. Probably I'd have liked the game more if I had just played on normal instead of hard, it feels like the flaws wouldn't be as apparent that way. This definitely feels like one of those 7/10 on the edge of 9/10 with more polish kind of games.

6-4, because I've never been more infuriated by the existence of a prosecutor. The minute I saw Nahyuta was on the other side of the courtroom is the only time I got legitimately angry at this series. It's one thing to be a bad, annoying character and by far the series' worst prosecutor, it's another to completely overexpose that bad character in a situation where he has no fucking need to be there.

I've never properly played 4 or the Edgeworth games so any irritation towards those is second-hand. So yeah I'd rewrite 6-4 and just replace Nahyuta with like, fucking anyone (Klavier, why not. An empty void. I don't care).

This is a tough one.

2-1 is by far my least favorite case. Utterly irredeemable. But it's short and largely irrelevant to the rest of the game/series so you don't actually gain much from fixing it.

4-4 is the next obvious choice but I feel like the poison runs deeper than just 4-4. You'd have to fix all four of that game's cases to really solve the biggest issues.

I think I'm leaning this way too. 5-3 isn't on the poll but would be another easy one to fix because all you really have to do is write Robin with 2023 sensibilities instead of 2013 sensibilities.

...honestly 4-2 could also stand to just have the whole panty thief plot line changed into something else so that's a contender too.
