Ok, so since you mentioned this, and my request to another user for a source on this in post 30 was not addressed yet, Ill post one of my own as to why the dogs mouths are cleaner than humans is kinda BS. From the blog of a dog food company, no less: https://www.tasteofthewildpetfood.com/health/are-pet-mouths-really-cleaner-than-humans/ TL:DR - if youre not brushing your dogs teeth on a regular basis, they could have harmful bacteria and its probably not a good idea to have them licking around your mouth, nose, eyes, or any open wounds for sure. They even specifically mention saliva potentially being the method of transmission, which makes logical sense and I cant fathom how dog saliva is somehow magically less bacteria ridden than human saliva. The article does also make pretty clear that you probably dont need to be super crazy and assume that dog licks are dangerous per se, but a bit of common sense (dont let pets or other humans lick open wounds) could go a long way. It just blows my mind a bit and completely lacks common sense when I hear the dogs mouths are clean myth over and over. | CE_gonna_CE 09/23/23 2:56:04 PM #21 | My cats have been on raw for many, many years. It definitely seems to keep keep them healthy, and their coats are always very clean and shiny. Another plus is that poop is always usually minimal, and they rarely have any issues with mushy or loose poop.
I think they hate it though. Its so nutrient dense that it gives them what they need but not more filler. So they are always hungry and pestering me for food.
