Noob is like my spirit animal I think. He's so over the top in MK11, definitely one of MK's most improved characters from when he was first imagined.

It was always their choice to write that as their film though. The DCEU was a bit of an unsalvageable mess at this point I suppose, but I've always felt Cavill was one of the best to ever play the role. I just feel sad for him that the people in charge of the franchise never really capitalized on it in the way they should have.

Agreed if you give up the entire cast of FF7 for them.

Definitely was one of the best parts of Pearl, interesting choice. I still don't think they should have dropped Cavill but oh well

Hsu Hao is not good, but I don't really view him as the worst thing ever either. Like there are a lot of boring characters that people lose their shit over just because they came from the 2D era. Hsu Hao is really just guilty of being kinda boring and uninspired. Initially he was named Kublai Khan, and presumably had nothing to do with the Red Dragon, but they reworked it to add more bulk. I feel like they've always done that for the Special Forces related storylines though, but really only Hsu Hao gets the overreaction that he's superbly awful. He had one of the better fatalities in MKDA also.

Speaking of MKDA, I really enjoyed the game's Krypt. Not because it was like really immersive the way they've made it these days, but I enjoyed all that concept art of scrapped characters. Looking at all those drawings was always super interesting to me.

I was sparing the good people of this topic from just alluding to that appearance, but you've taken it a step too far by embedding it!

Sonya is probably the most recognizable and "important" character from MK that's the worst of the lot. As much as I don't feel Scorpion deserves his A+ rating over Sub-Zero, I'm glad you didn't stick Sonya super high out of nostalgia's sake. Just a really boring character.

Also, summon up nightmares and look up Sonya's appearance in MK vs. DCU.

Yeah, he made like the top 30 I think. I'm not sure how that's not considered a success or a redemption. He's only back in this position because he's Wakka and managed to get booted again which negated a lot of the ground he made up with the redemption run.

To be fair the conversation has been dominated by the 2016 election, and a lot of Bernie mentions have been proposed. That doesn't fall in the former category at all because he wasn't even an option in that election.

Well, the Red Dragon were meant to be portrayed as more like a mafia or the Yakuza, and the Black Dragon were supposed to be more like thugs and lower level gangster types. I always got the impression from Mavado's design that they were going for more of a sleek, refined criminal organization rather than one led by Kano, whom you would associate with dirty and grimy.

Sonya and Kano basically had the same storylines for every game they appeared in for a very long time, and it was dreadfully boring. Kano developed the charisma to carry the plot after a while (thanks to Trevor Goddard, really, because that wasn't Kano's background until that version of Kano became THE version), but Sonya too has always been very dreadfully boring. I prefer Mavado because at least they tried with him to make him the antithesis of Kano; Kabal just flat out ripped Kano off and hired two people just as boring as Jarek to boot, so that's doubly awful.

I mean, honestly Mavado is better than Kabal, in my opinion anyway. The Black Dragon storyline had long overstayed its welcome but they were incapable of writing Sonya or Jax in a way that didn't involve them going after some sort of gang. I feel like they could have done more with the Red Dragon arc if they had not caved into people wanting Kabal back, who is again a character that never had a lot of value in my book. They could have put Kabal in Deadly Alliance, but I feel like they basically gave Kabal's entire storyline to Cyrax in that game.

I've always found Kabal to be one of MK's most overrated characters. I'm just assuming he garners his popularity for his gameplay, because ever since MK3 he has been a very underwhelming character. His appearance in Deception was a huge disaster and one of the worst things about the game, because it also brought in cannon fodder like Kira and Kobra. He was somewhat better in the first reboot (saying that makes me cringe knowing there are two now), but he was like a super edgelord too. Noob Saibot is the only edgelord MK needs; I really want to see Kabal more like he was in MK3, where he was a reformed guy fighting on the Earth's side with the heroes. They've always strayed away from that since his debut.
