from a "veteran leadership" perspective maybe - but scoring >20 for towns and wiggins is arguably more impressive given that they had another 20ppg teammate. plus both wiggins and towns were drafted at #1 overall. the bulls made the playoffs but were never once contenders with butler. those lebron in cle years were crazy weak for the eastern conference.

Those numbers were before they were together, from the previous season. I'm sure all their numbers decreased while they were together or else they'd have been very good that year. I still say that as the oldest and most established player, and the one with a ton of playoff experience to their none, he was supposed to lead them. Also, he wanted out partially because the team gave them more money and he wanted that sort of contract as well. If you believe the practice fiasco, he supposedly told the GM that they could not win without him and in short, "pay me". So I mean, clearly HE thought of himself as the leader too.

Eh, Draymond is waaaay overrated. He was definitely third best on that team last year, maybe even second considering Klay's injury.

Towns was only in his third year when Jimmy joined the team, and the Wolves had not made the playoffs since KG left. Butler had just been to the playoffs 5 times in a row with the Bulls. I think it's ridiculous to think anyone would not have considered him their leader in 2018.

Easily the best finals of these so far. The first one was just... not good, in my opinion at least. The second one is degraded by having Delibird in there, which I don't even associate with Santa. Both of these were major characters in their respective series and fit the theme, so happy with that.

Well, Wiggins has a ring and he was a big part of getting it. Jimmy doesn't have one still.

The thing is, if you put Butler, Wiggins and Towns on the same team and ask the average fan, "OK, which one of these guys is the leader", I'm certain most anyone would say Jimmy was supposed to be the leader. And he failed at being a good captain, in my opinion. I feel like he did later say that his emotions got the best of him and he was only trying to elevate his teammates, but the stories I've read about that practice say he did a really bad job of it. It's a lot of he-said stuff, but the way I view him is that he was upset that the team game KAT and Wiggins contracts but he didn't have a big enough one he was happy with. Which, that's on management, not on KAT and Wiggins. To degrade your teammates in the way he did makes you a crap leader.

I'm not going to forgive Butler for his antics in Minnesota; he's a great player but "deserves a ring" he is not.

I feel like the coaching carousel these days has gotten out of control. Perhaps it was always this way, but I feel increasingly like there aren't coaches closely associated with the culture of a team. There really are just a few teams out there that feel that way. 3 of the last 4 title winning coaches have been fired, and only Steve Kerr hasn't been, who is one of the few that feels like he's part of a team's culture and it'd be hard to imagine him not there. The next coach that is still on a team he coached to the finals is all the way back in 2014 with Popovich, and then Spoelstra. Even if the Heat blow this series I can't picture them firing him over it either, though I could be wrong on that perhaps.

It really feels like the era of the great coaches has gone though. I think once the three guys I mentioned are gone, it might be an endless cycle of hiring and firing with no one closely associated with any one franchise.

Came away really liking the movie. I can't really find anything too bad to say about it. It doesn't come across as dull and dingy; I think the use of color underwater was well done. They were going for realism so going for the huge color bombs like the animated films just isn't going to work, but I think they found a good balance of realism and bright colors. The CGI fish and stuff looked fine; even Sebastian and Flounder look fine in motion.

Song wise, Part of Your World was great. With Sebastian's songs, it's really difficult to replace that VA. He has some of the best songs in all of Disney and redoing them wasn't ever going to be an easy feat, sort of like with Will Smith redoing songs by Robin Williams. I personally found the renditions to be pretty good. Sebastian was very popular in our theater as well, getting a lot of laughs from his lines. Melissa McCarthy was superb in her role, I wish she had gotten even more screentime is all. I also liked the additions and care they took with developing Eric more as a character rather than a plot device.

But yeah, above average film. Way better than Lion King 2019 for sure. Our theater was just about sold out and the film got an ovation after the credits started, which is a fairly uncommon occurrence (though we rarely see stuff opening weekend).

I'm sure what's in there is kinda what inspired this topic to begin with.

Seeing it Sunday evening. Pretty decent critic score from RT; outpacing Lion King (no feat) and Aladdin so far. It has an audience score very similar to Aladdin's too, and I liked Aladdin personally. I'm hoping for more of the same. Some of the positive reviews I've glossed over also say that the dull, colorless world people have been harping about is a little overblown and it actually isn't that drab.
