baby boomers and gen xers had the easiest childhood
When you're young, everyone older than you must have had an easier time than the one you're having; when you're old, everyone younger than you always seems to have it easier than you did.

I'd say the class you were born into, rather than the year you were born in, was a bigger determinant of how easy you had it (or not). Believe me, I sympathize with people who've been hit by a double whammy of being born into modest means and brought up in painful times.

do you have the slightest idea of how much college used to cost 40 years ago? Housing? What about the salary vs cost of those ratio @Vampire_Chicken ?
Very few people I knew personally went on to college after secondary school, because most working-class kids -- like me -- on the estate where I lived had to go straight from school to earning a wage where they could; higher education was out of reach for a lot of us. And for a generation of school leavers in Thatcher's Britain, caught in the middle of one of the worst recessions in living memory, finding and keeping a job wasn't always easy -- and in my experience they didn't pay particularly well, so it was tough to save. So no, I've no idea how much college used to cost 40 years ago. Housing? Dunno about that either, I was born and brought up in rented council housing because my parents couldn't afford to buy; I couldn't afford my first place until I was 30, when I took out a joint mortgage with my wife.

If you think you've got it rough today, trust me: I've been there before. Yes, this is a particularly crappy time for a lot of people, and not just kids either by the way (I was homeless for a spell in 2011), but the 1980s were a lot shittier than any rose-tinted nostalgia might sucker people into believing. There's winners and losers in every generation, every era, sure; but of all the people I knew, a lot of us at that time didn't feel like we were living the lives of winners.

But they don't say "Former Hercules actor Kevin Sorbo." And, as famous as he's sometimes taken for, the headline could have just began, "Kevin Sorbo wants to make Hollywood manly again."

The point is that his name isn't in the headline. It's not in the link.

It's this subtle "you were" effect, because he's not even worth naming in the headline to get the click. Because his name doesn't get clicks like it used to.

And I loved it.

Each of the last five or six generations has had things a bit easier than those that went before. Today's kids will almost certainly be finger-wagging at generations younger than themselves in a few years. But that's not guaranteed, because it feels like there could be some very rough times ahead and this might be the calm before the storm.

I'm an atheist who used to be married to a practising Christian -- the daughter of a Baptist minister. I tagged along to her fellowship group meetings and Bible study groups. I can tell you it feels a little strange and embarrassing when every meeting you attend starts with a prayer for your soul because you're a non-believer. They were nice enough people, but I could never understand how they managed the intellectual somersaults and contortions necessary to submerge themselves in blind faith in tribal myths and superstitions from the Bronze Age Near East.

Clarification I'm looking for is whether cutting off utilities to an embassy is always considered under international law to constitute an "attack" on sovereign territory, or it could be accepted under some circumstances as simply penalizing a bad customer over unpaid bills!

Who normally pays the utility bills for the French embassy? If it's the French government, what would happen if it failed to pay the embassy's bills? Wouldn't the Niger authorities be within their rights to cut off the supply -- sovereign territory or no sovereign territory?

You mean chasers? Yeah they've always been around

I love me some curves but it's weird if someone strictly dates bigger people if they just fetishize them
For me at least, finding fat girls sexy is about preference rather than about "fetishizing". I'd argue that if, for me, it was a fetish then I'd be attracted only to fat girls, and to all fat girls because -- well, because they're fat. That's because fetishists typically fixate on the object of their fetish, and they're not too interested in the whole package. Me, I'm still very much a "whole package" guy.

Any red-blooded guy who goes bonkers for boobs will tell you that bigger is most definitely better -- right? I couldnt agree more. But the way I see it is, why deny yourself pleasures of the flesh by rationing yourself to big boobs only when you can also feast your senses on big butts, big thighs, big bellies?

But it's true, there are some guys out there who are fat fetishists, plain and simple. Believe me, I'm not one of them. Feederism, for example, creeps the living bejeesus out of me. Planning to make someone a prisoner in their own body by using subterfuge, coercion, manipulation, and emotional blackmail -- that's not love, it's not even lust; it's twisted control freakery. That's not me. I've never tried to dissuade any girl from making necessary changes in her life if she wants to make them; I've encouraged and supported fat girls who've wanted to lose weight. And yeah, that's a delicate balancing act, because you need to reassure her that your relationship won't change just because her body does, and even if your relationship does change, you can't let her feel those changes were responsible.

Thank you. I have absolutely no problem with anyone saying they wouldn't sleep with someone whom they don't find attractive. It's not compulsory (or at least, it shouldn't be) to like or dislike anyone or anything; and it'd be absurd, not to say downright damn unreasonable, to expect everyone else to have the same likes and dislikes as ourselves.

The way I look at it, an ability to appreciate ladies of all shapes and sizes is a generous dollop of good fortune: I know its filled my own world that much fuller with pleasures, temptations and opportunities.

Well, it typically took me about four hours to get there by rail (I made the trip a few times) and the fares weren't cheap. Also, it always meant an overnight stay in a hotel since none of us had our own place. But it had its compensations for a while.
