on this second playthrough, Im realizing the developers actually expect you to long rest much more often than I was doing it. There are events that only happen at camp at night , and only one will occur each night, so I missed out on some scenes the first time through due to my extreme rest reluctance

honestly, its one of my bigger issues with the game. Based on how many events there are at night, they really seem to expect you to rest a lot more than is actually necessary for healing/spell slot reasons.

Ive started occasionally long resting without using supplies just to try to run through all these scenes.

my first time through, I was very reluctant to long rest because I was afraid there would be some sort of consequence to doing it like time progressing would lock me out of something

it turns out thats only true in a small number of specific situations that generally require you to have initiated a situation before time becomes a problem

an example: theres a building on fire that you can rescue people from. If you find that building and go back to camp before you rescue the people, theyll die. But until you find that building, you can go through as many days as you want and those people will still be alive when you finally get there.

the situations where time is relevant are mostly intuitive like that, but not always. i ended up looking up a guide online at some point just to be safe.

theyre wasting no time getting explicitly into original series continuity. Im so happy that this show is back in some form. I love these characters so much.

its fine. I played a few hours, had an adequate time, then decided I was done with it forever.

On a second playthrough now

i thought I was so thorough in act 1 the first time through

so imagine my surprise when I happened upon a subarea of the Underdark that I completely missed the first time. The Festering Cove.

10/10 area, do recommend

I dont buy a phone very often, and its a pretty big purchase/kind of an effort, so its not hard to loosely remember when it happened last.

in this case its very easy because it was just like three months ago, and I saw GotG3 afterward

before that it had been like. Four years or something. I think it was the summer before the pandemic.

ah, but your mistake was thinking I believe well actually get a better senator (at least better in terms of their politics, obviously I think theyd be better in terms of being able to actually perform the mechanical functions of the job)

jokes aside, I dont think Bernie should run again at this point. He should handpick a successor he believes will basically keep fighting for what he believed in and endorse them for his seat.

even beyond politics, I just dont think we should be making decisions based on the idea an octogenarian will be around and competent six years from now

2) What old age is considered to be changes over time, and frankly I doubt most legislatures would keep updating them. So if there was an upper age limit of 80, 20 years from now that could well be in place yet 80 year olds would be much healthier.

I think this is the sort of thing theyd jump at the opportunity to update since it means they get to stay in the job longer

which is also why there wont ever actually be an age limit. No one wants to put an expiration date on their own career

any limit you impose is going to rule out some people who would be competent. Im sure the minimum age limits do that too. That doesnt mean the limit is a bad idea.

also incumbents just tend to win primaries regardless of whether or not theyre particularly good at the job. The 80 year-old whos been in office 40 years has an inherent advantage over the younger candidate with a more functional brain.

we mostly would not lose out on superior candidates, wed lose out on career politicians who have the benefit of name recognition

I think its good to reduce the choices people have when the choices were taking away are bad ones

is having a bunch of 80 year-olds in charge working out well for us

I think you legally must complete one dungeon (anyone) to access the final boss

unfortunately the patch did not address a crumbled wall in the final sequence of the game that you can interact with to squeeze through if youre small which leads below the geometry and immediately kills you

Im on the middle difficulty and by the end of act 2 I just felt absurdly overpowered. I think I beat the boss on my second turn.
Im late in act 3 now and still just blasting through everyone.

its pretty easy to just cast a few big AOE spells for any encounter with a bunch of dudes. Spells slots dont really inhibit me and Ive got like 50,000 gold so I can just load up on scrolls too.

I might try a second play through on tactician.

Its pretty easy to get animal speaking potions and they last all day, so you basically dont actually need to have the spell.
