I mean... I've seen a video where a lion took like 6 blasts from 6 different shotguns/rifles and still managed to tackle a guy before wandering off and slowly dying. Obviously if you had a .50BMG minigun you would be OK, but it was pretty terrifying seeing it take all 6 rounds and still almost kill that guy with full ferocity.

I carry a pistol because you can't carry a long gun with you in public, concealed or otherwise. And it would be obnoxious to, even where legal. However, a handgun is not an ideal weapon. It is a backup/concealed gun. As such:

I own a 12 gauge pump shotgun with a flashlight built in for home defense, because it is one of the most ideal close quarters / home defense weapons. 00 Buckshot still has to be aimed, and WILL penetrate dry wall (the extreme spread of shotguns in video games is a myth, unless you specifically have a choke/shell arrangement to get wider patterns earlier) but slightly less so than a rifled slug (such as one fired from a pistol/rifle/carbine.) In addition to that, 3" 00 Buckshot has a lot of stopping power (not "knockdown power". That is also a myth) even against a fit male when hit center mass. I choose pump over the speed of a semi-automatic for the home defense shotgun because the manual bolt control allows me a better chance of clearing a rare jam in a life or death scenario.

I own an AR-15 carbine for extreme scenarios where I need a little longer range than a shotgun, and lots of ammunition that can accurately be laid down. I would almost always go for my shotgun if I heard someone breaking in, but there have been instances on the news where 8+ armed intruders broke into a family's home, and in that case, the 40 round magazine of 5.56mm would give me a better fighting chance.

The rest of my guns are just for collecting, and are all locked up in a safe.

Unless you have a Class 3 Permit Tax Stamp allowing you to own a burst or fully automatic weapon, which has an extremely thorough background check, sometimes a half-year waiting period, and the gun has to be designed before 1986. So no modern M4's, no H&K416s (although I plan on buying the semi-automatic version of that carbine someday, I love it so much), nothing like that. If you want newer higher-tech carbines and rifles, you're going to have to go the semi-automatic route. There is no legal way, at all, to own a modern one in this country.

Nonsense. There are a lot of men and women in my life that come to me for leadership and strength in this world. Protecting innocents and caring for others is largely what my late wife loved about me, and drew her to me originally. She saw me defend the honor of a close female friend, and it had a huge impact on the way she viewed me. There is no weakness in valuing others before yourself. If anything, it is the greatest feat of strength to provide for those who cannot return it. "Give until it hurts", or so my pastor always says. A man will go without food and starve so that his wife and children can eat. A man will suffer every day to provide for his family and loved ones. If everyone in the world did one selfless act a day, everyday, I think the world would be a much better place to live than it is now. Now, I'm not perfect... I have my moments. I used to get into pretty brutal bar fights, and to this day I still struggle with road rage. (When people lazily drift into your lane at 15MPH while texting with no blinker, and you're going 55MPH and engine braking alone is not enough to match the merging vehicles speed... it's difficult to keep your patience.) But we are all works in progress, and I have come a long way over the years from who I used to be. I could have just ignored your comment, instead of spending all this time writing to you. For context, your hands typically rest below your waistband. He also had a gun already aimed, he could've waited a touch longer to see his non-existent firearm.

If I'm holding someone at gun point that was breaking into my house or car, I will warn him to keep his hands above his head and visible at all times. If he makes a sudden movement towards his pockets or waistband, I will be firing into his chest until he stops. This is literally what I was taught in all self defense and tactical courses, including by cops in my town. If there is a gun pointed at you by a citizen or a cop, you don't do something stupid like reach for your waist band where tons of people carry a gun. I will warn them ahead of time that I'm going to shoot if they reach for their pockets. But I'm not going to risk me or my family being harmed because you suddenly got cocky and went for a gun. Your hand suddenly darts, my finger starts squeezing. Period.

Like how in the Task Manager you can see CPU usage by application, is there anyway to do this by GPU? It's at 20% usage even if I close all my running programs. Restarting the computer will likely fix it, but I'm kind of curious who the naughty program is before I do that.

The cop who immediately opened fire on the guy just because he came to the door should be fired and serve several years in prison. The police department should be forced to pay a settlement to the victim's family.

The guy who gave the fake address should get a few years in prison for reckless endangerment or something.

The guy who made the call to police to initiate the swatting should be executed. His estate should be billed for the cost of the swat team being deployed (not the cost of the payout to the victim's family, it's still on the police for being trigger-happy, but the base cost of deploying needlessly).

Swatting is fucking reckless and dangerous, and extremely malicious. It gets innocent people hurt and killed and probably wastes a ton of taxpayer money, too. The law needs to come down as harshly as possible on those who perpetrate it.

Police abuse is also a huge problem and officers breaking the law should go to jail.

Something to consider with mileage is also what kind of mileage. An overdrive gear on the interstate for long periods of time is the best mileage for your car, because physics is on your side and you are largely coasting. Your engine barely has to do any work at that gear ratio and speed, (overdrive means your engine is spinning less than 1:1 with your transmission/final drive/wheels). Stop-go-stop-go is much harder on your car. (Moving 2,500-6,000 pounds from a dead stop is a lot of work.)
