luigi13579 09/17/17 10:47:57 AM #2 | Good to hear, but I hope there are some interesting sequence breaks in there. I don't like the lava draining mechanic in 2 (and probably this remake too), since it makes it a bit harder to add in sequence breaks. |

luigi13579 09/17/17 7:02:11 AM #32 | Back_Stabbath posted... oh snap auzziegamer is still going strong? his blood money vids were the best. Well, he came back after disappearing for ages, but he doesn't make new vids that often. I think he said he became a teacher or something and has less time to make them. He did a series for the latest Hitman game, but I haven't watched it yet since I want to play the game first. Shit, looks like his last vid was 6 months ago. He tends to disappear quite a lot. |

luigi13579 09/17/17 6:37:03 AM #29 | As someone who likes (some) Let's Plays: - Interesting / funny commentary (e.g. TheAuZZieGamer for the latter... when he actually makes videos) - Learning about glitches, different ways of doing things, etc. (and seeing them in action) - High level play / gameplay challenges (e.g. speedruns, low % runs, etc.) |

Topic | Next Final Fantasy will try to recreate how players felt with Breath of the Wild |
luigi13579 09/16/17 3:18:37 PM #23 | yusiko posted... maybe you should just go back to the formula that worked for you for years I would like them to do that. With modern hardware, they could make an awesome world map. There could still be a decent level of open-endedness, but without the large, empty areas that true open worlds often suffer from. They wouldn't need to populate it with generic quests either to try and make it seem not so barren. Basically, have a world where every area has a purpose and populate it with meaningful content. On combat, go with a turn-based system, but improve the presentation and add some bells and whistles to make it more exciting (e.g. some small real-time elements, like in Shadow Hearts and/or an SMT/Persona style Press Turn / One More system). Have characters that move around and fight between turns rather than just standing still. Or, go with a real-time system, but expand on the ability to pause it and micro-manage a party and add some more strategic elements. I appreciate that they need to be seen to be innovating and embracing modern trappings to attract new players, but they can meet the traditionalists half-way at least. Blue_Inigo posted... Guys I'm not a fan of FF15's combat. To be honest, I even prefer Type-0's combat. At least you have a variety of characters with their own combat styles and can switch between them easily. |
Topic | Games with the same feel as TWEWY and Persona 4? |
luigi13579 09/16/17 7:58:47 AM #9 | Aside from the other SMT/Persona games, Killer7 sort of gives me a similar feeling, even if it's a different kind of game. There are similarities in that both have modern-day settings, take a lot of inspiration from Japanese culture, have that trademark Japanese wackiness, etc. Story-wise, it's a bit darker, i.e. more like Persona 3 (and TWEWY?) than 4. The soundtrack sort of strikes me as similar too, albeit without the "J-pop". |

Topic | Ethically, is ad-blocking wrong? |
luigi13579 09/14/17 12:30:42 PM #45 | No. The most convincing argument for me is that you should not be forced to receive certain data on your own computer and connection that you've paid for, especially when that data can be (and often is) malicious and especially when it eats up your bandwidth (several Megabytes worth on some sites). Now, if it leads to creators not being able to support themselves and having to charge money up front (or do something else we might not like), then you can't really complain (as much). That's the risk you / we take. Basically, consumers are free to do what they want (within reason), but that naturally applies to creators also. |

Topic | What incentives can developers give to make people not pirate their games? |
luigi13579 09/13/17 2:04:32 PM #45 | Setting aside the morality / legality of piracy since that's a separate issue: - Price: Allow games to come down in price / go on sale to a decent extent. - Convenience: Offer different ways to access games (e.g. let physical games be downloaded too), fast download speeds for digital games, pre-loading, easy backups, etc. Eliminate disincentives like intrusive DRM. - Availability: Ensure physical copies are available in large enough quantities and/or offer digital versions. - Compatibility: Allow games to be played across multiple platforms, newer hardware, newer operating systems, etc. so that you can always access a game even if one system breaks, gets shelved or is otherwise unavailable. - Extras: Soundtracks, art-books, maps, other games, etc. - Content/features: Online modes (e.g. Battle.net), leaderboards, achievements, modding support (and platforms like the Steam Workshop), cloud saves, etc. CADE FOSTER posted... abandon pc problem solved You're naive if you think it's not a problem on consoles too. Plus, profitability can be just as good if not better on PC, due to the lack of license fees to platform owners, among other things. |
Topic | Young Turds: Companies have 'all the right in the world' to issue false DMCAs |
luigi13579 09/12/17 11:44:19 AM #20 | I think PewDiePie deserves all he gets, but the DMCA system is a mess. It's so easily abused for censorship. This seems like a case of supporting something that's wrong just because it seemingly rights an injustice. You can bet that if it DMCA strikes were launched against TYT's videos/channel, they'd flip-flop instantly. I'm just waiting on someone doing that to teach them a lesson. To be fair though, they're correct that it's within people's rights to do it (and it shouldn't be IMO). |
