Well I know what you mean but Ohtani is actually a unique case because he wants to come over before turning 25. He can only get a signing bonus from a team's international spending pool and he has to get on a 6 year rookie contract. He's gonna play for the league minimum and take like a 3 million dollar signing bonus because he wants to come over that badly. It'll still be the Yankees because he wants to DH and they have the best situation for him for a variety of reasons besides that. The Dodgers are usually number one for Asian players but he wants to be a two way player and the Dodgers can't offer him that

He's legitimately probably got a bat that would play as a regular but he's a much bigger pitching prospect for MLB. I was reading about his hitting chops and the comps for his skillset were all great players. Charlie Blackmon was the top one I remember. Imagine if he could pitch like Darvish (he's probably better than him is my understanding) and do everything else like Blackmon. He's got legit raw power and that wacky Asian approach where you're running while you swing.

He's almost definitely going to DH on his off days sometimes. Outfield seems unlikely.

Battle Chefs Brigade. It's cool. It's iron chef as an rpg where you have to hunt your own food but with hand drawn animation and a ton of fun world building. I really like it so far.

As for sports, Shohei Ohtani might get posted tomorrow. It sucks that he won't get a ridiculous amount of money but I'm excited to see him play <sp>for the New York Yankees </sp> in part because he seems to think he's the GOAT. I'm more excited to see him hit than pitch because he's all but certain to be awesome at pitching but if he can hit even as well as Hideki Matsui he'll be perhaps the most interesting player of all time.

I'm also mad that in fantasy they split him into two different guys. It's funny that they had to but I would have preferred they force the owner to play him as a hitter or pitcher day by day. The hitter version is going to be all but worthless due to playing time.

Hey I have a new coworker who is from Minnesota and a big Vikings fan as well as an ASOIAF freak. It's like we're finally working together

We went to a gift shop in the Ozarks and there were 500 confederate flag items (which you'll all have seen if you've ever been south of the Mason Dixon line) and also there were kids Halloween costumes of confederate soldiers. I did a few dumb things to sabotage their racist business by putting some of their stuff on the floor and hiding other stuff

I've only been to the Lake of the Ozarks once and it's extremely redneck. Beautiful lake though. I heard the show is decent and people here like it in part because of the familiar setting.

I'm sure we've discussed this before but I think my high score for all time was a pathetic 120. I've probably played fewer than 15 times since I stopped rolling granny style. I don't dislike it but once I had to start paying for it myself I found it to be an unacceptable expense

I've only heard of crunch at Japanese developers, though I wouldn't be surprised if Western ones do it too.

I think a lot of why this Hollywood scandal hits so hard is that the industry as perceived as this one big entity. With sports you have so many different leagues and bodies, and with games so many different developers all over the world.

Literally every developer crunches. The Shovel Knight guys worked like 16 hour days for over a year

I definitely agree Ultima that there's both probably hostile work environments in a lot of games and that people wouldn't care if it came out. It's already kind of an ugly industry with crunch being a thing (for those who don't know that's when the developers have to work like 100 hour weeks near the end of their development cycle) as well as other labor issues, e.g. the voice actor strike we just had in the past couple years.

Also a male employee at Naughty Dog quit because he said he was sexually harassed by a person there. Naughty Dog, probably one of the 10 or so most famous and talented Western developers, and the story barely even got anyone's attention.

More evidence that whoever gets Stanton will be getting him on the cheap because the Marlins are becoming more crassly profit based under Jeets

The Wii U UI was definitely incredibly bad. I guess I hadn't really thought about it in a while but you're right about how bad it was with the plaza screen. It was just a weird console in a lot of ways.

The Switch's gets the job done if all you want to do is play whatever game you have. They're short on bells and whistles (even themes would be nice) and it just feels very boilerplate to me. I predicted they would relaunch it on the one year anniversary with a big update and I stand by that prediction

Well, I beat Super Mario Odyssey tonight, though I'm far from finished with it. This game is too much fun.

Skyrim and Doom are also coming out this month, WHAT? Well, I knew about Skyrim, but for some reason I thought Doom was going to be early 2018. Too many games! I should probably stop dropping money on full-priced games until I get a job. And yeah I know they aren't really new games, but they're exciting to me

You know how sometimes when you look up a hottie on Facebook their whole profile is public so you have to carefully read a ton of stuff they posted without smashing the like button on accident? Well I didn't like any of her posts but she posted about the women's March because while she considers herself a left leaning feminist she hates that feminism has become about free birth control and tampons and then went into a multi paragraph rant about how tampons are a luxury item. Without giving away who or what becomes playable I'll just say that you have to think some of this stuff will be coming as dlc. I don't expect this to happen for example but I wouldn't be shocked to see Wario or the frog dude from SMB2 pop up as the bad guy in dlc.

Yes I've played with it a bit but I haven't shared anything anywhere because I don't want to spoil anything for anyone. I finished the main story last night and I can safely say it's my favorite Mario. It's also maybe the most creative game I've ever played. I can't play it for five minutes without being surprised and/or delighted by something.

We gotta make chewy buy Xenoblade 2 so that this can remain the Switch discussion topic so that Socky stays angry forever.

I say that this never happens in sports but it's actually pretty similar to when the Saints won the super bowl

They haven't won since 88 and their front office is full of interesting intelligent people. It's not just money, they're also the savviest team by far which you have to at least respect. Also they are specifically a likeable team right now. Oh and they aren't rooted for by Boston fans.
