Okay I am glad to find that common ground.

Because again, my goal is not to vilify police. My ideal is to vastly improve police accountability, and step one is transparency.

If we know precisely why some cops get cleared and some cops get the boot, with community communication along the way, then we can learn what practices we might like to criticize or change and go about doing that the right way.

1.) Theyre picking the most exciting arrests

2.) Theyre not accused of murder. Hopefully NO ONE here thinks cops should be gunning down runners from a crack house bust.

There are a lot of stories I could see that if they checked out would have the driver as innocent

The most basic one is that the guy was just driving around with his friends and they decided they wanted to do something stupid on the spot, which absolutely does happen. Guy is just a bystander driving away out of fear after his friends randomly shot a guy more than an accessory.

Yeah. All he 100% knows is that very shortly after a drive by shooting in which someone was shot from the car, a possible shooter ran from the cops from a car with semi automatic weapons on the ground.

I am fine with police shooting people that are known to have partaken in murder and are actively evading law enforcement regardless of whether or not there is any sign of immediate danger to any particular person.

I can understand that, and I might agree if the officer had witnessed the murder.

Im just not comfortable with police making lethal decisions in the moment based on indirect evidence.

They didnt KNOW 100% he fired a gun. They didnt KNOW 100% he was in the car when the murder happened.
