the dodge takes some getting used to, but it does work and comes in REALLY handy for a few specific boss fights. it can also be largely ignored through how you utilize the gun powder mechanic to create as much ammo as you need. so if you dont want to bother with it, you dont really have to.

largely the same, but probably 10-15% different elements. new weapons, story beats, some slightly new environments. if you really like 2 its enough to play through again. if you want to move on then its not enough to alter your choice.

if you play 3 make sure to play it on hard. the game is practically broken on easy.

the game is great, but dont expect quite the same level of quality as REmake, the game is several years older and it has aged in ways. also dont expect a difficult game, its notoriously easy compared to pretty much every other game in the series. in terms of scares thats basically how the series goes. the first few hours are intimidating and then they load you up with enough firepower to take down a country. 3 and 4 however do present a consistent intensity/panic inducing feeling through-out.

film can be developed in the save room under the stairs. theres a dark room behind the typewriter.

theres so many factors here that they ignore on in that article outside of the population size. the US has a LOT of factors that go into its gun violence. population size, racial tensions, gang and drug violence, weather conditions (surprisingly, look it up), non-island country, how news and social media work, political divides, (and imo an overemphasis on prescription drugs), the lack of social services and safety nets, nearly 4000x MORE firearms in circulation and a lot of other reasons.

the entire fundamental notion of the firearm is also severely limited. much like the rest of europe if you defend your self with a firearm in nearly any instance you will be punished so many dont even bother and dont see firearms as the US does. the government also knows who owns what and can take them from you for any reason they see fit so technically you dont own the firearm, the govt just allows you to have them. the US is largely the only country in the world who treats firearms how they are supposed to be treated. not just for sport or hunting, but also for defense.

the US' situation leads to more gun violence, but also more violence of all kinds. the bed the US has put itself into has created a unique vacuum of shit, one that we will not be able to fix by limiting firearms which may actually make the whole situation worse by doing so.

because they believe more restrictions will lead to more death and problems down the line. less means of deterrence and defense=more authoritarian control and oppression. the US specifically is in its bed so deep and its situation so unique that some gun restrictions isnt going to pull itself out of its problems, but instead would most likely make things worse. one side is thinking short term while the other is thinking long.

Well, before this topic dies, I have one last question. If we were to ban gun altogether, or heavily restrict them, wouldn't criminals just keep their guns? If their planning on doing bad things with them anyway, they wouldn't bother turning them in.
yes. eventually they would dry up as more confiscations and arrests happened (violent crime would most likely go up as well for a long time). the big problem and hurdle is just the sheer amount of firearms already in circulation. the US easily has 200-300x+ the amount of firearms in circulation compared to either the AU or UK (and thats a very conservative number). to actually get to that point would most likely take decades and thats assuming you magically made them all illegal tomorrow.

another problem is keeping them out of the hands of citizens and criminals. the US isnt an island nation so youd have a serious black market issue with firearms being brought up through south america as the US' supply starts to run dry combined with the ease of development and manufacturing of them (not to mention 3d printing) on top of the US already being massive in scale and not enough bodies to properly police it already. things like school shootings would go down, but pretty much anyone with some will to have one will most likely still be able to get one. overall gun deaths would go down as well everntually, but id wager overall crime and deaths in general wouldnt change much as criminals still remained unchecked and normal citizens were left more defenseless (and imo open to more authoritarian laws and regulations which could end up hurting us all anyway in the end). not until you fix the core problems with why someone would want to pick up a gun and use it nefariously in the first place, youd probably not make much of a dent in overall violence in this country.

severely limiting firearms in this country with its current problems would most likely be worse for the nation overall in its current state. we've made our unique bed.

are they a core or major factor? most likely not. are they still a factor to some degree? most likely. as someone who used to be on zoloft and paxil they do tend to dull some of your emotions and perceptions which could have a bigger or lesser effect on different people. i wouldn't say its enough to easily do something horrible like this, but they can play a factor when in combination of 6 or 7 other elements.

40mm launchers require some NFA work and are classified as destructive devices since they were made with explosives in mind. 37mm launchers and some other lesser types however are completely legal for everyone since they were designed to fire flares and tear gas tho certain types of ammo available for them can be regulated. and while it is illegal without going through the right channels you can make explosive rounds for everything.

you can technically own a fully functional 37mm launcher for around $500 with no other trouble than going through a normal 4473.

most schools have active shooter drills after columbine. never seemed to matter that much. 2 armed guards also wont matter all that much either especially only 2 given the task to patrol dozens of acres of ground, let alone hallways that echo making figuring out where shots are coming from difficult. metal detectors would be a better solution, but those can be gamed also unless theres really only one entrance which is a fire code nightmare.

arming teachers while still stupid to me seems like the only theoretical way to really limit casualties (outside of "ban all guns" and waiting 40 years for the 400+ million already out there to dry up in the mean time). if every fifth or forth teacher was unknowingly armed they could potentially engage a target substantially faster than an officer 5minutes away patrolling the gym. even if people knew to target the teacher first the next 2-4 teachers in the next classrooms down the hall and across the hall can still respond.

Dark_Spiret
05/15/18 3:20:57 PM

and how many other first world nations have the myriad of other problems the US has which aids in gun violence and helps prevent people from lashing out? the US has a level of social discourse thats either not present in other countries or is significantly less (some for good reason, others less so). and even then when someone wants to start some shit in other countries they tend to replace guns as a method to do it. bombs and vehicles currently hold the record of largest single person killing sprees.

other countries tend to have methods of stopping the root causes of violence before it starts. universal healthcare, supplemental wages, better social help for its citizens if they need it ect. however most of these can really only be sustained through a smaller population and even then many boarder on authoritarian construct (such as hefty surveillance and uber harsh penalties for minor crimes and needing to make sure you dont rock the boat in anyway. the US also has 3x the population than the second largest first world country which combined with all of our other problems can lead to some rocky shit). it all comes down to if you want more security or freedom.

even if gun laws were just as loose in other countries as they were in the US youd probably still not have anywhere near the amount of gun violence.

with all of that said theres got to be 400+ million firearms in the US. with 100+ million owners. with that theres estimated to be about 70k people shot per year (not including suicides and this includes LAWFUL shootings as well). lets assume the worst case scenario for everything with each of those people being shot with a different gun and by a different perpetrator unlawfully (which all of course is definitely not the case). that would mean .07% MAXIMUM of all firearms in civilians hands are used to harm someone. and you would be dipping into the .01% or less if you included all firearms in the US. a vast vast VAST number of firearm owners and their guns dont harm anyone.

you also brought up school shootings of which if you factor in all 90k+ schools in the US and the estimated 74million+ people going to school and how many are shot on average each year you are looking at a roughly .0006% chance of getting shot at school. you have about a 10x higher chance of drowning in your own bathtub than you do getting shot while attending class. basically theres a hell of a lot of other things id be worried about than getting shot.

if youre going to live in a nation where 1/3rd of the population is armed and theres more firearms out there than people i dont know why you wouldnt want kids to atleast know the safety of them. its keeping them away from them that leads to more accidents in some kid going over their friends house and finding one under a bed and blowing their brains out trying to figure it out. and there is a difference in hoping that day arises vs being prepared IF it does. i know gun owners who seemingly wouldnt hurt a fly who give to charities, teach children, volunteer at shelters and building programs and in general are great examples of good human beings and yet they still carry a gun because they still know parts of humanity are shit shows.

my great grandfather carried one for ever 50 years and he never used it (had to pull it on a few occasions i know of, but never fired). he didnt even like hunting.

theres a difference in needing to pull a gun and wanting to.
